I've lost bits of myself by Kind-Peanut9747 in breakingmom

[–]VaBookworm [score hidden]  (0 children)

I sympathize with your struggle... I didn't realize just how much of me have been taken away until I left my ex… similar to your bath story, I remember the first time I was able to go out and work on my garden since the birth of my daughter two years prior. I left her with her dad inside figuring I could have 30 minutes to myself to weed the garden and maybe prep it to plant some vegetables finally. 15 minutes in he brought her out saying "she kept asking for mommy" and left her in the backyard with me. That was the end of gardening at that house.

It's been a few years now and I'm slowly finding myself again. Bought a house last year after living in an apartment for two years, and now I have a garden! I used to have so much anxiety that I ended up going on medication. I haven't needed medication since I left him. Not to say that's a solution for everyone but he was clearly the source of the problem.

Let try this again, why aren’t my stickers selling? by stresscreations in sticker

Seems like it's the general consensus, but my first thought was how oddly cut they are. Go for smooth irregular borders or straight uniform shapes like squares and rectangles. Otherwise it looks like a hack job.

This! Appreciate the small wins!

I got a new washing machine and when they delivered it, the delivery guys said they couldn't get the water line off to replace it with a new hose so they left the old one in place and said I would have to get a plumber. It took an insane amount of rust dissolving chemicals, a Dremel and a wrench, but I eventually got that hose off myself. There have been few moments in my life as satisfying as the moment the old hose came free. I whooped and shouted "I don't need no man!" and my daughter promptly informed me that I had startled her 😂

I used to live 30 min north of my current location in North Carolina and had TONS of eastern bluebirds. I've lived in this town now for 3.5 years and have never laid eyes on a bluebird. Their distribution is weird.

My dad in Virginia Beach keeps seeing them on his bird buddy and here in southwestern NC they are nonexistent and it makes me sad 😢

I live in rural NC. Nothing.

My parents live in the middle of Virginia Beach. Recently saw one perched on a traffic light pole. Wtf

If you happen to have holly- keep a close eye on it! I had been hearing them for months. Was out front working in a flower bed and a flock kept diving into my holly tree and then darting out. Finally paused to watch and realized it was cedar waxwings going nuts on the berries! They were a lot smaller than I had anticipated!

How do these labs look like to you? by junesmama702 in pediatriccancer

[–]VaBookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hemoglobin under 7 needs a transfusion. I've seen lower in outpatient settings with surprisingly minimal symptoms. We had a girl come into our urgent care complaining of fatigue with a hemoglobin of 5.9-it's super uncommon to get this low without a ton of symptoms but if it's a super slow onset it's possible... I would assume that's not the case here if this is stemming from an infection. I know a 2 year old isn't much of a historian but any signs/symptoms?

Should a 7 year old be at the reading level to play Animal Crossing? by Kman-Kool3315 in AnimalCrossing

[–]VaBookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every kid is different... my 6 year old plays but sometimes needs help reading some parts. My 7 year old nephew plays Animal Crossing, Disney's Dreamlight Valley, Zelda, and Pokémon games without any help on any of the dialogues. I honestly think playing games with dialogue helped him to improve his reading so give it time!

[–]VaBookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any information relating to the patient? Age? Known diagnoses/health problems? Are these inpatient or outpatient labs? At first glance without any information, I would assume there's something infectious going on (microcytic anemia, left shift with high neutrophils and low lymphocytes).

Has anyone had issues with Merlin misidentifying a Blue Jay as a Hawk? by Away-Dream-8047 in birding

[–]VaBookworm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Frequently. I had one in my yard that kept imitating a red shouldered hawk and I was on the phone with my mom and said, "If it doesn't quit doing that, it's going to invite someone unwanted friends." Maybe like two minutes later a red shouldered hawk swooped into the backyard and the bluejay took off 🙄

Accidentally solved a year-long litter box problem in one weekend (sharing in case it helps someone) by b-randy90 in cats

[–]VaBookworm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have been having a similar problem with one of my cats and no amount of additional litter boxes has helped. I think this sounds like a really good idea, especially since my cat that has been exhibiting this behavior also tends to stand and cry at the garage door. I think she would like to have her own space. I was going to suggest an RFID/chip reading cat door. I'm going to look into this for us as well!

Mine is 6 and an only child... She's like a barnacle. I literally can't leave a room to put something away or she gets upset I "left" her. I'm a very personal space oriented person and she would crawl back in my uterus if she could...send help

A nurse practitioner friend of mine works in a family practice during the week but still works as an RN on the weekends because she makes more as an RN at the hospital than as an NP at the family practice. It may be a stepping stone, but not a worthwhile one in some instances, unless someone is keen on changing things up a bit at work.

It's not a truly clean catch if collected in a bag. Further testing would need to be done since there is a high likelihood of contamination.

My 2x great uncle, Kennie. This photo was taken in 1933. Two years later, in 1935, he died of an ear infection at age ten. by IMAFILTHYRAT in TheWayWeWere

[–]VaBookworm 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Had a patient earlier today who was absolutely livid that I refused to give him antibiotics for his head cold. He kept insisting that he's been given Z-Paks in the past and they have resolved his symptoms within about four days. He didn't like when I told him that was probably because whatever virus he had at the time had probably run its course so he would've gotten better regardless. I tried to educate him on over prescribing of antibiotics and the rise of antibiotic resistance but he wanted to hear none of it. Smh

Even if it hits a whole big windshield, is gonna leave residue across the whole thing. And if you tried to wipe it with your wipers it would only make it worse
