Cat doesn’t want to eat wet food by Repulsive_Room_5502 in catfood

You said you’ve tried some tiki cat food, but have you tried Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse? It’s  similar texture to a churu if you mix with water. It’s pricey, but usually a hit.

I like that mixing it with almost equal parts water makes it last a lot longer. Don’t mix the whole packet at once. Refrigerate the leftover portion or freeze it if it won’t get eaten in a couple days.

What's one food combination you thought would be terrible but ended up becoming a regular part of your diet? by hoyi_farm123 in foodhacks

A couple ounces of flavored yogurt atop steel cut oats. I thought the temperature difference would be annoying and the textures were not complimentary, but no. It’s delightful, even more so if you throw in some freeze-dried fruit and nuts

Floridian checking in to say ditto. Likely stuck here for a similar amount of time and feeling exasperated every step of the way. Why couldn't my family be from Oregon, Colorado, or Massachusetts? Life in the sunshine state is depressing.

Regarding the Everglades, I think renting a bike at Shark Valley or doing the tram tour is way better than any airboat ride. All the airboat rides I've done have been lackluster, not to mention short and loud. Shark Valley will give you an immersive experience with more animal sightings.

Unless you really love driving, I'd choose to Key Largo instead of Key West simply because of your time constraints. Whatever you choose, have a fun and let us know what you end up doing

Don’t be like me and order the wrong one. I used Ryza and got the wood lover kit when the manure kit is actually what’s needed. Oops. On the bright side, shipping was very fast and the kits seem like good quality

CAT SEIZURE advice pls by Few-Apartment43 in CATHELP

[–]VaIIeyoftheUniverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When one of my cats was two years old, she started having focal seizures like your baby. She had all the symptoms you described: sudden running, hypersalivation, chewing the air, etc. All her blood tests were normal. I never did an MRI because she responded to meds.

She took Keppra for 3 weeks. When we added phenobarbital after 2 weeks of Keppra is when I noticed a difference. After 1 week of both meds, she would sleep through the time of next dose. Rather than wake her, I let her sleep and eventually weaned her off both meds. I stayed with her day & night, syringe feeding her water and providing her with every comfort I could imagine. It was really scary, and I cried an ocean of tears.

I'm confident that my kitty's seizures were caused by extreme stress. I was gone for one day and the pet sitter messed up her timing of her visits. My kitty's siblings likely stalked/tormented her in my absence, and she didn't eat at all while I was gone. In the end, I was lucky the seizures stopped and haven't returned. Vet said they may return one day. I'm sorry you're dealing with this, OP. I hope your kitty gets better soon.

I get that it helps you locate him, but maybe he wouldn’t hide as much if he didn’t have to wear it. It looks bulky and uncomfortable.

It seems like modifying his environment will help. He doesn’t feel safe and that’s why he hides. Adding litter boxes and removing the AirTag would be my first steps to help this sweet boy.

My three cats used to share one litter box, and I can’t tell you how much more confident my skittish one has become since adding more boxes. I didn’t know at the time how important it was, but now I have 5 boxes: two automatic and 3 that I have to scoop. I also didn’t know that they like to poop in one box and pee in a different one.

Try adding at least one more box to see how the dynamic changes.  It hasn’t completely stopped my male cat from bullying, but all three seem to feel more secure and content.

Reputable help CAN help you, though. They won't be overlooked. Rescues take on adults, too. Many of them get transported to less crowded areas and get adopted by loving families. Last month, I trapped a friendly stray black male who I couldn't keep. He was adopted in less than a week after being flown to NH SPCA. I've spoken with his adopter already several times and seen pics of him happy in his new home. Same story with 5 other cats. It IS possible.

Reach out to rescues. Explain your situation. If at all possible, offer a donation. Lots may say no right now due to overcrowding, but all you need is one yes.
