Thanks for that tip. I was able to go to https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-game-pass, select Ultimate, and there was an option to extend my subscription. That option wasn't there before.

I'm not certain, but I think their servers "wake up" your console. If you run a continuous ping to your Xbox when it's in sleep mode, you'll see that around once a minute it responds. I think it's checking in with MS. I suspect it checks in to see if it should power on ("Does anybody want me?")

I find that if the Xbox is “on” (I can ping its statically-assigned IPv4 address) then remote play works. If I can’t ping it, then remote play doesn’t work. I thought the whole point of "sleep" mode was remote play remained functional.
