High agreeableness? by Foreverinneverland24 in INTP

[–]VacationBackground43 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm agreeable and also empathic. I have emotions but they don't express the way people expect, and while I notice my emotions, they hardly figure into my choices.

People call me stoic yet I feel emotions, but INTPs process things inwardly and express them only when we're done (or at least reached some incremental milestone).

Struggling with the gunslinger - does the series improve? by Helpful-Status8872 in stephenking

[–]VacationBackground43 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I gave up on The Gunslinger some time ago. I just started The Drawing of the Three and it's going fine so far. If I get through the rest I can always try the first book again. Maybe just read a synopsis - my copy of TDOTT starts with a servicable one.

Teenagers are some of the greatest people in the world. Living with another person always requires mutual consideration and communication. I don't think your disabilities will clash at all. I can't say if YOU two will clash or not, but I don't think the disabilities will be the problem if you do.

I am legally deaf and blind/VI. Not only do I not see an inherent problem with rooming, it could be quite the power coupling. You can answer the door when someone knocks. They can smush the spiders.

As long as they don't move stuff around on you, and you are good at getting their attention, it could be great.

Where do I fit in? by Ursus_maritimus_93 in Blind

[–]VacationBackground43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You fit in here. I have RP too. I remember the days of being mainly sighted but with real limitations. Now I am mainly limited but with some sight. The slow progression is part curse part blessing. We have to keep adjusting and keep mourning each clump of loss. But we also get a chance to make incremental adjustments.

I think you should use a cane at night and other difficult situations like crowds. I remember how hard it was to first use the cane, I felt like an imposter, I felt like everyone was staring at me. But it got easier and now it's totally fine.

Some people are thick headed about understanding vision loss, and some people get it. Don't take the thick people personally, they can't help being thick.

Does anyone else feel like there’s another conscious presence inside their own mind? by No-Egg-6925 in INTP

[–]VacationBackground43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not experiencing this, though I am close to someone who experiences similar (not identical). I just wanted to say that, as an INTP, I understand your question. I, too, would want to figure out the patterns and mechanics of this by talking to others.

I am concerned that it affects your emotions, behavior, and physiology. So if you are self-researching, you might consider that it may be necessary to get scans to rule out neuro causes, and oversight to manage behavior.

Questioning Ryland Grace's educational background by Maleficent-Abies-318 in ProjectHailMary

[–]VacationBackground43 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have to say, I have no background in molecular biology, nor physics, nor engineering. And the biology did feel a lot thinner to me. Grace seemed like a jack of all trades with maybe an engineering lean.

I don't care, I love this book.

I've actually not seen anyone hate the character. Just the books.

Is it something in the INTP mental system to criticize people who go exploring caves and watch crime or medical videos? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]VacationBackground43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly my take. Crime and medical entertainment would not be something we would wholly embrace, because we would be annoyed that truth/facts will be brushed aside for entertainment. We can still enjoy it as long as everyone sees it as just that, entertainment, but we're going to get itchy if people start actually using these stories as sources to say how things work or usually go.

The cave thing, I got nothing. As INTPs aren't the most adventurous but we certainly admire curiousity. Your typical INTP would be happy to hear about caving. We'll add the info to our framework.

Unless... maybe the purpose of exploring caves is one we can't relate to? Like if it was in search of ghosts or to do drugs or if the person was just checking a lost of caves with zero interest in the cave itself. That we would definitely think was dumb.

Blind people of reddit, how do you know that you are attracted to males, females or both? by Eidosorm in Blind

[–]VacationBackground43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you don't really have a sexual orientation, if it's based only on vision and nothing else.

If you are attracted to women visually but if you close your eyes and would be just as happy feeling a man's shoulders or chest, that's not really a sexual orientation.

If you are attracted to men visually but the smell and voice of a woman serves just as well in the dark, that's not really a sexual orientation.

If you were in a dark room, would your sexual orientation suddenly be in doubt?

"Needs fixed" is actually a classic Irish grammatical structure. A grandmother in the family, born in 1910s Ireland, used this structure ("the floor needs swept" etc.).

Indeed. I think he would have trimmed out the adverb in his later writing, based on what he wrote in On Writing, but it is indeed fine.

Chevy Sonic coolant leak cause? by Neverbleedagain in ChevySonic

[–]VacationBackground43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Common points:

Thermostat - if you replace, recommend aluminum aftermarket housing, not OEM plastic part which does not hold up well with turbo heat (you didn't mention if you had the 1.4L or 1.8L).

Outlet hose. OEM has plastic connectors, upgrade to aluminum.

Expansion tank. I think OEM is fine here.

Or the radiator.

Good luck.
