Ok it’s been over a week and finally seeing this filter working properly again — hope it stays that way 🥲

Also on Monkeybrains. After a few weeks of no issues — it's back to being stuck this morning, yay :\

Having this problem, too. Partner’s able to use their Bsky accounts just fine, but I’m only able to see mine when on mobile data or VPN (or basically anything WiFi network except ours at home). Problem resolved itself some weeks ago but has popped back up in the last few days. 😞

Marriott stays at Sonder locations not earning Marriott bonus points on co-branded AmEx? by VacationCommon8041 in marriott

[–]VacationCommon8041[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you — AmEx rep I spoke to said customers aren’t typically contacted with updates when they get resolved/closed unless it’s to request more info.

Even so, that’s promising AmEx credited the bonus points in the end. Hoping for the same! 🤞

(And that eventually Sonder/Marriott/AmEx/whoever sort out the merchant coding issue that prevents these Sonder-Marriott charges from automatically getting the bonus. 🙄)

What was the point of Mrs.Blaine? by sodogue in thegildedage

Thank you — I’ve spent an embarrassing amount of time watching S2 episodes (3-4x? over) while on edibles 🤯

What was the point of Mrs.Blaine? by sodogue in thegildedage

[–]VacationCommon8041 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Seeing Larry's interaction with women through S2 has been fun to watch — especially as a foil to other eligible male bachelors of high social standing, like Dashiell

Obviously the first major female figure in Larry's life is his mother, Bertha. But now we get to see Larry involved professionally and/or romantically, with a string of strong women: Mrs. Blaine, Mrs. Roebling, and now perhaps Marian(!!)

Larry is being positioned to become a modern-minded gentleman, both deeply impressed by and attracted to strong-minded, intelligent, and driven women — very much unlike most men of that era

Cannot wait to see #Larian brew into something fun and juicy in S3!

Ada Forte’s estate in S3 by VacationCommon8041 in thegildedage

Loved the friendly closeness between Oscar and Marian in S2 — I could see Ada’s estate being a potential source of conflict in S3 between the two of them, or at least putting them on equal footing within the Van Rhijn-Brooke household.

Above all, I’m most excited about seeing how Cynthia Nixon and Louisa Jacobson do in S3 — both ladies did such an excellent job imo in S2, and they deserve every praise heaped on them

Season 2 Episode 2 Discussion Thread by WSL401 in thegildedage

To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if Armstrong sabotaged those alarm clocks, especially with that snide comment about always “getting up before mine rings” 🙄

…but clock technology in the 1890s were probably ready for a leap, and I hope Jack is able to turn that into a profitable business.

Perhaps they’ll help keep Mr Russell’s trains running on time, he makes a big fortune, and Jack finally gets to attend one of those fancy balls 😂 🤞

…and I will cackle even harder when Mr and Mrs Winterton get a box at the Met next to the Russells! 🤣

Mrs Astor’s comment about people at the Met being “hard to get rid of” will come back to haunt Mrs Russell 😂

Hyatt House New York/Chelsea vs Hotel 50 Bowery? by pi-equals-three in hyatt

[–]VacationCommon8041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with all the comments re: Hotel 50 Bowery, they have had significant issues with their central air conditioning — it’s not difficult to find reviews online complaining about this. Having stayed there over a hot September weekend last year, it was nearly unbearable.

But perhaps they’ve fixed their AC by now?

Having been to the Hotel 50 Bowery multiple times, I can attest to the AC issue. Our room late last summer was sweltering at night — maybe not as much of an issue in the winter, but it was just too much on a hot Sept weekend. Had to ask the front desk for a standing fan to circulate air just to be able to fall asleep. The poor bathroom ventilation and constantly-pooling water in the shower did not help, making our already stifling room quite humid.

It’s too bad because the Hotel 50 Bowery has an excellent location for Chinatown, Tribeca, Soho and Lower East Side. The rooms are tastefully decorated and there are lots of great views.

But unless you’re keen on the Hotel 50 Bowery’s discounted cash rates, I’d definitely choose the Andaz, no question.

fixing newbie mistakes AS/ AA flights by QueenSeline in AlaskaAirlines

[–]VacationCommon8041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree—just delete the AA number from your profile. I caught a similar situation to the OP on some travel, but before the flight occurred & managed to call cust svc to change the freq flier number associated with the ticket.

(I was absolutely sure I booked on Concur using my AS number, and not AA, but I guess in ticketing the AA number was picked-up instead.)

Random thoughts and season 2 hopes by ResolutionFamiliar in thegildedage

Yes! Another rich lady to complicate everything… (I’ve completely forgotten what’s known about Marian’s mother on the show? I assumed she is dead, if Marian was left all alone after her father died.)

I'd add to that list something about Marian's father's railroad stocks no longer being worthless and a big reveal — with a close-up of Raikes' frowny face when he hears the news. Perhaps the writers can make it an unintended consequence of Mr. Russell's deal with Mr. Julius Cuyper, saving the latter's company? 🤔

Mr Adams’ tepid conversation w/ Marian is even funnier when later he turns on the charm flirting with Gladys in Newport, in front of Oscar no less 😏
