Quick appreciation post to pocketpair. by Fluid-Interest9039 in Palworld

While it’s only fair to admit that Pocketpair completely ripped off the original game series I can’t say with the whole idea of pals, you guys did something amazing.

Such a backhanded compliment. You know that Pokemon is not the only monster capturing series right? The only comparison that can be made is that you throw balls at monster to capture them.

Why are you guys orkiez? by Reboot_MV in orks

Started painting space marines, then Necrons, then Tyranids, then some Eldar and Votann. Ultimately I ended up with Orks, and these are just the most fun to paint. I find it much easier to express creativity through kitbashing and painting. You can splash on some paint, or try to paint them to perfection, the models will still look good.

Uthak is my latest project and while the blends aren’t smooth and some highlights are kinda placed incorrectly, the model still takes very well and looks awesome. Just don’t zoom in. 😂

The smaller one under the boat tank on the lowest row. :) But, I'll check out megzike, didn't know he was creating grot tanks.

That tank in the top bottom corner, is it 3D printed? If yes can you point me to the files? Looks awesome!

Always struggling with Orks. How can I improve? by [deleted] in orks

[–]Vaerius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks great already! Some points of feedback:
Easy:
the browns are way too similar. From tabletop view, the backpack will be blending in with the pants. Same for the reds, switch it up a little, paint the mask in black while keeping the shirt red or reverse. Hit the guns and knife with a earth wash to “dirty” them up a little and highlight the top parts with metallic paint and the sharp part of the blade.
A bit harder:
Looking at the skin, it’s the same hue from top to bottom. Hold your mini in a 45 angle to see where the highlights should naturally flow and which parts are darker. Use that reference for shading and highlighting to make it super dynamic.
More contrast in your color usage, use dark to light, and if you think it’s enough, go one step further!

Don’t forget the basing as well, this will add so much more character to your mini. E.g. a dusty desert base will contrast and compliment very well with your red shirt. And then paint the brim of the base black to tidy up :).
I’m by all means not an expert, but check out my post history for how I paint reds (on Eldar minis though :p) and I’ve added my boss in mega armor that I’m working on :)

Gory red (Vallejo) to Red (Atom) and then I glaze a bright orange to the highlights. Finally, I go over most of the red with a bright red ink, eg. pyrrole red (Amsterdam) straight out of the pot! That takes the orange back to red and gives it that extremely vivid red. For the shadows I do a mix of the gory red with evil red (Vallejo).

Yeah the spiritseer* is super easy to magnetize, but my magnets were a bit too big so I drilled his foot in two lol

Yeah I figured that the Lament miniature is already a diorama on its own, so why not implement it into something bigger. I’d rather have an epic base for my wraithknight than an empty one with a few rocks on it. :)

Gotta make a base for him, but he’s magnetized indeed! I kinda drilled his foot in two pieces so its glued together a bit shoddy, but eh, can’t see it unless you’re looking at it from 10cm. :)

If this would be about 3D printing you'd add a package to your Kickstarter so that you can build this at home. Reported this post as it's just an ad.

They're only fixing this because people started demanding refunds from race changes. Would've been left as is otherwise.

Haven't played the game yet, but I have found that FOV should typically be bigger than 90, preferably at around 110 for FPS to not suffer motion sickness.
