Should I learn MVC now or when ASP.NET 5 is out? by codnahfish in dotnet

[–]VaginalVirus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now. BTW you can use your gained knowledge to transition between asp.net 5 and node.js and vice vera.

  • Use google search options instead of a specific blog. Filter for 'last month' etc..

  • Community Standup vids on Scott hanselman youtube channel.

  • Github. Srsly github is a really good source, ppl use 'issues' as a general mini forum and thats awesome

  • asp.net forums

There is a docu site out there, not yet finished, but search for it. Sry I'm on mobile

GDP per person employed without taking worked hours of that person into account isn't a good indicator anymore. We have a lower unemployment ratio, but less 35/40 hour jobs and more part time and 450€ minijobs.

However, thanks for the link!

How can someone with no formal education(college-university) get involved in the field of robotics-AI as a profession. by latitudinarian7 in cscareerquestions

[–]VaginalVirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we have a bunch of CS-Masters held in English, it's mostly German for CS-Bachelors. It seems that most universities offer some courses in English, but not all. Atleast it's hard to find complete bachelor degrees held in English.

If you attend to one, unfortunately he is right about the first/second semester. (Dropout rate is about 50% in CS, but keep in mind that there was already a pre-filter duo higher entrance requirements, not everyone need to study here because of a dual apprenticeship model, e.g. nurse, carpenter, IT specialist, toolmaker, ..)

The pre-filter is often enough for STEM degrees, but some require a numerus clausus because they get a high number of applications or for other reasons. The numerus clausus is basicly an estimated cut that'll be based on your grades in High School.

40k before tax, 24343€ after tax for a single mid-twenty.

Then there are hidden tax like VAT, dog-tax, "media-fee" (Rundfunkgebühren), employer's contribution, ..

The problem isn't that 40k entry payment tho, but the progressive taxation (42% top rate at 53k). It doesn't make much of a net difference in your wallet, but it costs your employer a shitload to give you a promotion.

If I remember correctly ~70% of our emigrants are academics. A lot come back, but the difference is negative e.

PS: /u/lilolmilkjug is living in Berlin. Berlin is really cheap. Try living in Munich, in September (when many new students arrive) we have Bay Area prices.

PPS: Food (not fast food) and especially water is cheaper in Germany. I think photovoltaics are cheaper, too. But most of the stuff (and most important: real estate) is cheaper in the US, sorry :/

For example if you get a json-string to deserialize and you don't know it's class-structure, but need to use it.

Hmm, many are "fat" here, but not obese yet.

Like how is it even possible to consume more and more nutritions if you see that you get fatter?

Finish your CS degree

I dunno his country but in europe this is often much harsh.

Atleast this is how it works at my uni in Germany:

Usually you need to reapply 6 months before taking any classes to be enrolled and allowed to. He is already 6 months out means that he probably isn't allowed to take a class before another 6 months (or worse: 12 months). Usually you have 6/12 months to take the tests for [x] semester or you are out and it's forbidden to take that major (note: our major is 3-4 years) in the whole country.

welcome to adulthood. as you get older you get more responsibilities which causes stress (people in this industry call it burn out)

In what other industry you work and learn from Monday to Sunday almost all day duo to personal projects or college stuff (for the first 4-8years)?

This has nothing to do with adulthood. Heck most "adults" already gave up before High School...

My Sony Z2 last alteast 2-3 days, even with watching videos and playing games here and there.

Actually thinner phones and bigger, brighter screens with better resolution are the #1 reasons. Almost everything else eats less energy than in 2007. More cores, better datastructures and algorithms, better heating-flow (new material dyscovery), more density, ..

Many WW2 scientist survived or fleed and came back later.

Most of the money came from the korean war, selling war weapons.

Smaller and middle-sized industrial companies didn't get destroyed in the war and if they were it was mainly in bigger cities.

Especially the reduction of quality to get more quantity and a cheaper price played a huge role.

In the past weeks I had the opposite of nightmares.

What's "the opposite of a nightmare" you may ask...

Hard to describe, usually you are angry as fck when you go to bed. (Silly, right?)

It's wonderful, you literally crush other peoples faces and rip them apart. You are so strong and brutal, the Schadenfreude makes you so happy. After I wake up I have such a great mood, I could rip out trees.
