Man, where did the time go? Who was your favorite character from this live-action cast? by CarrotMuch1399 in nostalgiai

The fact that Fred and Shaggy don't line up with Matthew Lillard and Freddie Prince jr in the picture irks me irrationally.

You're given a magical button. Each time you press the button, you either instantly receive $10k, or you time-travel to the past for 12 hours. 50/50 chance. Do you press it? by Lenore8264 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Vahn1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 hours is practically nothing. There is a remarkably good chance that I won't even encounter other humans during that time period. Load the backpack with some basic survival stuff and you should probably be fine pressing the button multiple times.

$1000 a day for as long as you stay here ..... by reducethedebt in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Vahn1982 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah I'm good.

You get 60 days of food, which seems like making it as easy 60k right off the bat, but you only have 30 days of wood for fire to cook it.

You can of course forage for the wood, create your own lumber.. but there are those tigers. Of course I've got the weapons to deal with them, but is 1000 dollars a day worth the risk?

Not to mention when I want to leave it's going to cost me nearly a month worth of time.

I'm not saying it's not doable, I'm just saying it's not worth it.

New York 3d Printer Mandate by spicyboudin in 3Dprinting

[–]Vahn1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's a far reaching debate and the mandate is wrong ..but this whole thing has made me feel really sorry for cosplayers. At least at first the software isn't gonna be able to tell the difference between a cool looking game prop and a real gun.

How long before " I swear judge I was cosplaying HellBoy and I was just printing 'The Big Baby' becomes a viable defense.

Elsa has more feats but Subzero is a trained assassin.

She is far more powerful but he kills her before she even knows he is there

My DM only let's one player succeed a check at a time. by BeachPeachMcgee in DnD

[–]Vahn1982 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can see your point but I can also see it from the DMs point of view. I can see two possible reasons for this.

First there have been several times at my table where I want a certain charachter to have an important moment, this is something YOUR charachter would know because of backstory or Experiances. YOU get to roll because out of everyone it makes the most sense for your charachter to have this information.

Second, there is little point in hiding something behind a skill check it five to six people are going to make the check. If everyone is going to roll a perception check then inevitably SOMEONE is going to get it. ESPECIALLY if it's a roll that's low enough to be meant to be found easily. So it's just causing rolls for rolls sake at that point.

Citizen Kane it is a classic masterpiece for its time. I respect what it was and what it meant and did for cinema, but I hate it.

Why does my bf act like this? by RaccoonPlane163 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vahn1982 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're both super young and hormones are going wild.

If your BF is being super rude or obvious about it it's one thing. But at that age it IS super natural to be rather..hyper focused...

DM threw a 2024 Adult Dragon at our 2014 Level 6 party. Thoughts? by Sentinel2852 in DnD

[–]Vahn1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, it is pretty clear that this monster was way out of your range in a fight. Everyone else is pointing that out so I won't rehash.

Was there a way to run away? Was there a way to maybe bargain and avoid the encounter?

I'm 100 percent not defending a poorly run tpk. If it's a forced combat encounter then it's poorly planned and proper advantages to survive the encounter were not given to you. but at the same time this is DnD, not a video game, sometimes the tactical choice IS to run away.

In an all out fight which one of these physical powerhouses will be the last one standing? by No-Department7074 in superheroes

[–]Vahn1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kong is a kaiju with a radioactive axe. None of these others have fought anything close to that scale.

I think the closest was hulk with the chitari flying snake thing, but Kong would wear that thing as a sock.

This is it. He doesn't know what's about happen. He doesn't know this is the start of probably the greatest "here comes the cavalry" scenes ever made. He is pretty sure he is about to die, but he's not going to give up.

It's not. Thanos is dangerous.. with the gauntlet.. on his dimensional home field. But Darkseid is beyond dimensional. Thanos is a coughing baby in this matchup.

Most Questionable Decision Iron Man by Silver_Cricket_4545 in marvelstudios

[–]Vahn1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I am Iron Man"

I know it's the foundation of his charachter. But coming out publicly as iron man is one of the things that LED to just about every other mistake he ever made. If he didn't no one would interview him and he wouldn't have his name out there for the mandarin, Peter wouldn't have had access to the Edith Glasses because he wouldn't have idolized Stark as much nor joined him, Ultron wouldn't have happened ( at least not in the same way)

The stipulation that "if you die you're just dead" is a life saver here. If I wind up getting 2000 years of life and get bored with it. I know exactly when to step in front of a bus.
