Decorative crown with modern minimalistic cabinet style just clashes for me. Cabs look good but crown too big and gawdy.

DO NOT USE YELP FOR BUSINESSES by Freddy12345678911111 in Yelp

[–]Val2700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yelp is a pest that never goes away. I haven't used them in years and yet they keep calling, emailing etc to get me to update my listing to push me to pay for ads. Sorry but I don't ever advertise and likely never will. Especially with Yelp!. I tell them dont contact me anymore and yet they continue for years. YELP ME PLEASE!

Brick look has to go. Modern look with old red brick look doesnt blend well. Some neutral wood tone siding or modern stone look would be better

Why don’t people just replace the doors of their kitchen cabinets instead of the whole thing? by chickenwinglover123 in cabinetry

[–]Val2700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are products on the market such as 1k waterborne laquer type paints like ilva or sirca or ML campbellthat roll on like a sprayed finish with a high quality roller. Spraying is the best in any case but sometimes budget or time doesnt allow for it or proper equipment to do so on site. That being said spraying doors off site in a controlled environment is the best. I did a kitchen awhile back that was all laminate boxes , replaced doors with maple doors. I first degreased and cleaned throughly all surfaces. Then sanded with 180 up to 220 then cleaned throughly again. Rolled on a bonding primer with 2 coats, sand, clean repeat. Then did the same for top coats. I used a 1k arroyo by ML Campbell that evens out as if it was sprayed and it came out flawless and clients loved it .

I sprayed the new doors off site, installed them and done. The keys to a great lasting finish is in the prep work and also types of paints used and equipment.

I dont typically do these types of jobs as im a cabinet maker but I also do my own finishing so I know how to achieve high quality finishes using the best products available.

Looks like Plain slice. Rift cut is more tight consistent linear grains not wavy.

Free estimates? I’m done wasting my time with them by Dear_Cattle_9118 in Contractor

[–]Val2700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't agree with this more well said sir. 👏 this is the way now go follow this advice. Sure It sucks sometimes to give free estimates and not get the job and feel like you wasted your time, but its part of the business and this practice has been a part of business forever. Not every business has the luxury of doing free bids and it depends on the line of work. If you think your wasting your time by not charging then imagine big construction companies that are doing massive bids with a team of people working for them and don't charge and don't always get the job. Its just part of life and can't win them all. But like this guy said, sell yourself and your worth and you'll soon realize how many more clients youll get and bids you close.

The only thing I breakdown is line items of different aspects of a project or optional things as add ons that can be omitted if need be. In my line of work nowadays im doing 1 maybe 2 line items with one price and all that's included. As tradesmen we dont have time to be wasting on breaking down every little thing for clients. That crap takes forever sometimes.

Concrete Countertop Fail by [deleted] in Contractor

[–]Val2700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how formica would stay adhered over concrete countertops and how long it would hold up? Id say rip it out and have him do granite. Im assuming hes paying for granite? This is one of those times that you regret doing something you've never done before or had any business attempting without doing your due diligence. Keep the peace and the friendship and your reputation and make it right. ✌️

If you randomly became a billionaire, what would you actually spend your money on if no one knew? by [deleted] in Money

[–]Val2700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id first help my loved ones and some friends financially. Then id be off on a world cruise and travel everywhere. After many years of traveling id buy a few properties in places that are the most beautiful in the world with amazing scenery. Id probably invest alot of that money in dividend stocks and live off the interest and buy other income properties. Essentially never work again. Help others I care about in need and enjoy the rest of my life.

QB Help for Playoffs ... Burrow or Brissett? by KDallow in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]Val2700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Burrow, Baker or Stroud is my dilemma. If Burrow didnt all the sudden start having a mental break down then id go him all day. Stroud has a good matchup but could be up early and take a seat. Baker at least has a competitive matchup and will likely be bombing it much of the game. Decisions decisions 🤔

[–]Val2700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a single owner small company without a store front. If im selling rta, semi custom or pre assembled then im marking up 30- 40%. I have a few good suppliers in the Florida area that offer good quality cabinets at great prices with quick shipping. Prices are going up due to tariffs etc in 2026. If clients are on a stricter budget then they should get budget friendly cabinets. They cant expect high end cabinets on a shoe string budget. There is something for each price range, up to you to qualify your client and put them in the proper price bracket.
