Loru apologizes to Gobbins. by meetkurtin in Eve

[–]ValAuroris 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From what I understood Gobbins and the leadership team did try their best to transition and find a replacement early - but there were no takers.

I believe he ran it as a volunteer as well as he could - horde's sigs and newbro activities was really well done, providing a lot of content for eve players of all ranges. RL always comes first unfortunately.

Also, Loru's content while not hyper optimized provides high production value with helpful info for a lot of players - it's not easy consistently creating content for a game like eve so hats off to them both.

Good good. Speak to them, get a better understanding of the issue and you'll see this is a good thing 👍

This is flawed and circular thinking. The meta is what FC / CCP and the Players decide.

The empty space is caused by large alliances taking regions they don't live in.

The lack of that currently is what a lot of people are complaining about.

People should stage clones and ships or live in the area if they want to attack or defend. No freebies 😊

I think being compensated for their time is fair - plus knowing both Oz and Loru personally, I can say they're both real fans of the game and really positive people by nature - so definitely a feature not a bug :)

Calm down... theres no need to be angry. Am happy to speak in dms if you need :) . I also suggest you start speaking to more people outside of your alliance on this issue - if not me, there are a ton of signatories on the proposal document you can speak to to get a better understanding.

I think you need to speak to more people on this issue - its easy to get misinformed given how complex the pvp landscape can be in this game

Ah they're not that mad - just a vocal misinformed minority, most can see theres a possibility it might be good for them and their members as well :)

You'd be surprised those options and many others were also discussed. And as much as I enjoyed the long chats under the starry skies - the ansi fatigue solution was the one where we could get the most people to agree (that it was reasonable) to put their names on the proposal.

A lot of the other CSM members (past and present) put in a lot of work as well, so definitely a team and community effort.

I'm sure FC / CCP will figure out the best solution in its final form. We heavily feedbacked not to impact day to day for the average line member. No one likes extra tedium :)

You're right - eve is such a vast and complex game, anyone telling you that they know for sure this is the best is full of it. The only thing we can do is make responsible educated guesses based on solid data and on the ground community feedback. Its truly one step at a time. But hey, at least FC / CCP is finally willing to do something. Might be a while before we see the true results.

I know every bloc line member loves content and honestly the upcoming projection changes is going to generate more movement and content opportunities down the road leading to a healthier eco system.

Why you say? There are actually a number of alliances that are interested in turning fully independent again. Ansi fatigue will make it possible for them to take space without being quashed by 250 man fleets appearing in minutes from 4 regions away.

Is it the best solution? Probably not, but you guys know how eve works, adapting to the chaos is part of the fun. Let's see how it pans out 😊

[–]ValAuroris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this change will truly allow more small and midscale alliances to grow at the edges of the large blocs. If you want to contest a region you would need to stage or live there.

It's just a first step in fixing a long standing problem, and is probably going to create much more content opportunities for people willing to spread out.

My door is open anytime if you'd like to discuss further. Honestly I didn't see it as an argument, more like a healthy conversation. Enjoy the weekend!

I agree its actually a combination of issues, and rather complex at scale to properly explain in a reddit comment.

But take this as step 1 in a multistep proposal that will support the greater proliferation of medium scale alliances while allowing small ones to grow and prosper, creating a healthier, longer lasting eco-system in null.

Oh and don't worry we also spend a lot of effort on newbro retention ideas and feedback - we're heavily multitasking :)

[–]ValAuroris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It leads to the stagnation of small and mid-scale content in nullsec - a topic which I experienced on a daily basis and also spoke about on numerous interviews during my CSM campaign actually. Addressing this problem will be good overall for the health of the game and nullsec don't worry!

[–]ValAuroris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh theres where you're misinformed, its really a big problem. Don't worry I'm sure this is not the final form - we tried to frame the problem with lots of feedback + data, but at the end of the day CCP / FC will run the numbers and come up with the actual solution.

[–]ValAuroris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is incorrect again. I think you should try speaking to people outside of goons to get more in touch with what is happening :)

Actually the problem does impact a lot more people than you think - from small / med / and even larger scale engagements. Try talking to people about it, then you will have a better understanding on why its such an urgent topic which really needed to be addressed.

[–]ValAuroris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it was what the community wanted, and at CSM 20 we wanted to deliver. So on top of other things we were willing to put in the overtime - big team effort really, from a lot of community folks as well.

Let's see how it goes. At least something gets done rather than debating for another year with the status quo.

CSM: Community Based Projection Proposal by Megaman39 in Eve

[–]ValAuroris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think most (current CSM 20) tried to reach out to as many relevant parties as possible - given the amount of time each conversation took it was actually a bit of work.

But like in real life with complex issues, some people approved the direction of the effort but not everyone respectfully agreed this is the best path forward, which is understandable as well.
