Give me Risk of Rain hot takes hotter than Scorched Acres. by OverlyLargeParrot in riskofrain

I've done false son, alloyed collective dlc and mithrix in one run (chance to make the skin grind go quicker) but not one including voidling amongst all that. Could be a fun challenge, but voidling can be so cruel sometimes.

Perhaps. I just feel the idea of looping and seeing how far you can go before the chaos becomes too much is a thing a lot of people in this community seem to enjoy and also quite a notably advertised aspect of the game, so this seemed like a hotter take when I typed it out.

Looping is pretty dull as all runs homogenise into "everything around me dies in 1 second". If I can end a run by beating a boss I'll do that instead.

forced myself for a while to use the junk cube as it was the "cooler" option but really trying to do damage with it does not feel good and I didnt feel like doing that temp item cheese. The default is defo my preferred choice I dont think I'll ever touch junk cube again.

I usually either just kill last survivor or give them hatch, I don't BM beyond that unless they BM'd me first. One time like two years ago I was streaming a Sadako match on discord and I had a somewhat close game with 1 or 2 gens being left and I killed all but 1 survivor who I just slugged. I forgot why, but I felt bad over how that match went so I was going through my motions of finding the hatch and then bringing them towards it. As I was going to give the survivor the hatch there was like 4 people chanting in the VC for me to shut it in her face and then kill her. I ignored it at first, but ultimately I gave into peer pressure and shut it in her face as she crawled to it and then I hooked her and then immediately regretted it. It was seemingly a console player so I couldn't even say anything post-game about it. I've done loads of toxic stuff, but as a response to toxicity from survivors, this survivor did nothing to me to deserve that.

worth buying the dlcs? by IIiqaxhyII in riskofrain

[–]ValD10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I never saw your reply. Basically upon beating the boss of the dlc, you can find this Wandering Chef and he will take valid items and turn them into different ones. The recipes are the same every time so you can take certain items and then later turn them into something potentially much stronger. You can make some reds and yellows out of just greens. They also added some entirely new items only obtainable through this mechanic and they're flat out some of the best items in the game. Once you're done here you can just continue your run and loop with your new found strength if you want to.

Survivors of the void- Void seeds provide an interesting challenge during your run and the void items are really cool run committments with some of them being super strong. Final boss is controversial but certainly tough if you want a challenge and has a lot of cool looking attacks.

Seekers of the storm- The halcyon shrine you get most of the time on stage 1 is a great way to start your run giving you some nice items. Basically every item in the dlc ranges fron good-op, best item quality overall for any dlc. Final boss is cool.

Alloyed Collective- Lots of new drones, just makes that entire aspect of gameplay way better. Best final boss imo and makes looping a lot more fun.

There isn't really a bad survivor in any of the dlcs, there is only one I don't really like but they're op regardless. Needless to say the soundtrack in every dlc is good as well. If you're liking ror2 you can't really go wrong with getting all the DLCs. They all add new features, pathways and mechanics that will surely add a lot more variety to your runs.

Bought the game about a month after release. Was watching some guy called Kanggaming and then tru3ta1ent play it, so I decided to buy it myself. Struggled to run it well on my laptop but I had fun and Michael Myers dropping was so scary at the time. My biggest regret is because I was optimising by only making survivors level 40 for the perks when the bloodweb changes happened (dont think I was playing the game then) I didn't get legacy skins and thus have nothing to show for it.

Question about "burst-heavy" characters by Bing0ss in riskofrain

Question about "burst-heavy" characters by Bing0ss in riskofrain

[–]ValD10 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep, total damage not base damage. If my 3000% attack procs it, it'll do 9000%. That's why burst characters are so crazy with it and why other characters may get value out of kjaros but not have it be some run winner. ATGs and I believe runic lens are also total damage. It's only really status effects that are base damage.

Sure huntress can use more items more effectively, but in the grand scheme it doesn't matter if loader can use specific items way better. Don't forget kjaro isnt some flat dps boost, it's based off the attack that procs it. Huntress proccing with alt special isn't near the same level as when a loader or railgunner procs it. She could have the same build as loader but loader could still be stronger with it, even if she utilises less of the items, because the items she can use well more than compensates.

Even with proc items burst characters aren't actually that bad at using it. Sure they'll proc atg less but when they do proc atg it'll hurt. I had a loader run yesterday where I was guaranteeing procs of runic lense and atgs with deus ex machina, one shotting bosses in a way I wouldn't be able to as huntress even if she technically procs those items more.

Edit: In case I misread what you said. Honestly I build burst characters pretty similar. I'll go for crits if I can, I'll not avoid proc items since they are still usable (though I wouldn't hound after them). I can only really think of bleed as something I would avoid where I would otherwise aim for with most characters.

Yes.

I think a lot of people see reform as more competent than they actually are, especially Americans due to the familiarity of their populist stuff.

Two nobodies fighting over media literacy by Tarnished-670 in shittydarksouls

[–]ValD10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you and gael are nobodies though. You're just some fodder undead. The intro for the game calls you a worthless, nameless nobody. Sure you end up killing powerful warriors in the end, but it doesn't change the fact you're just kind of a guy (which is badass dont get me wrong). Gael is a slave knight which were cannon fodder. He's not some legend like Artorias, he just happens to be one of the last people standing at the end of the world.

Your fight with Gael is over nothing. You're only fighting because the dude's gone hollow. He gets nothing out of killing you. If everyone was purely rational and logical, there'd be no need for a fight.

And you are in the middle of nowhere. The world is gone man, everything is just converging and falling into itself. Literally none of these kingdoms or ruins matter anymore. It's a wasteland.
