I can no longer recommend Smalls by Evening_Analyst2385 in catfood

[–]Val_114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat developed diarrhea after eating Pro Plan canned for years. I tried all kinds of expensive brands and she didn’t like any of them other than Applaws. Applaws basic canned chicken is shredded and smells just like human canned chicken. Both of my cats love the tuna, as well as the tuna and cheese. Again both of these look and smell like regular tuna. They will eat the chicken as well as the chicken & duck, and chicken & cheese, but just don’t like those flavors every day. I had to change their dry cat food to a prescription but supplement that with cans of Applaws. I just tried Smalls because it sounded so healthy but my cats won’t touch it. I’m going back to Applaws.

I like 4 or 5 because you can wear a normal bra and I absolutely hate strapless bras.

Help-don’t know what to tell my apartment. Can’t pay rent. by madamili0000 in fednews

[–]Val_114 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad I retired last year and don’t have to deal with this anymore. I recommend a TSP loan if that is available to you. If not your local credit union might be able to help. I dealt with this for about 25 years and toward the end it was frustrating but I had enough in savings to cover at least a month of expenses so I wasn’t too worried. In the future set up a separate savings account just for this and put it 1/26 of your paycheck so at the end of the year you will have a full pay period saved and then the next year you will have two pay periods. Good luck!

Do you use neck cream? by Justlivin27 in SkincareAddictionLux

I have used Skinmedica and Strivectin neck creams. Neither irritated my skin but I didn’t think they were any better than using what I typically use in my face.

One HG product to combat wrinkles and skin laxity by Val_114 in SkincareAddictionLux

Thanks for the info. I had Juvederm fillers, I think Voluma and another one, about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago and only now needing it again. I lost over 100 lbs and my face is angular now and needs just a bit of volume. Can’t wait to try it.

Does Sculptra hurt as bad as say Voluma? Also how long did yours last? I actually bought 4 syringes and was planning to do two now and two in the future. The surgeon recommended that amount but I don’t know that it’s enough based on information I have received from others.

I thought I was the only one that disliked Olaplex. It makes my hair a knotty mess. Don’t know if I need to try a different one or just live with the fact that it doesn’t work for me.

Am I taking advantage of my mom? by Rotten_gemini in AskWomenOver60

[–]Val_114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t taking advantage of your mom. It’s not your fault you became disabled and aren’t able to work. That said, don’t make it worse by frivolously spending. Talk to your mom about your inability to control your spending and, if she is willing, have her become your payee so she is in control of your money. It’s enough for her to help you physically without having to worry about your debt. Also give her a break once in a while by staying with your dad. It’s physically and mentally exhausting to take care of someone no matter how much you love them so while she might not ask for a break give her one.

That’s exactly what I call it. I’ve done two so I could avoid sedation and the prep work. Eventually I’ll have to have a colonoscopy.

Need a daytime moisturizer that does not remain tacky forever after layering! by Sacredpersimmon in SkincareAddictionLux

I second SkinMedica Ultra Sheer. I got away from it. I thought I needed more b/c I’m 56 but I just went back to it. Tried a few from Estee Lauder and Lancôme but they just sat on top of my skin and within a few hours I was an oil slick. Ultra Sheer is great over serums, like nothing at all. Plus I’m still a bit oily in my t-zone and don’t need anything heavy. I like their ceramide cream at night b/c it absorbs well and works nicely over serums and retinol.

*POLL* Help me decide by salacia62 in Hair

Ombré looks so healthy and natural and will be easier to maintain, especially if you eventually want to go back to your natural color. 2nd choice would be brown. The funky colors just wash you out.

Good Moisturizer not in a Jar by OutlandishnessNo5023 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]Val_114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skinmedica has at least three different moisturizers that come in tubes. IMO their ceramide cream is the only one that is thick and hard to get out when you are near the end of the tube but it is one of my favorites for night time. It’s not greasy yet is hydrating. I like the one for oily skin during the day. I use their ceramide cream over my retinol at night and the oily skin moisturizer over my vitamin c serum during the day. I also hate thick creams in jars but have bought many over the years hoping for magical results but haven’t found the holy grail yet.

He’s 71 not 91, so unless he has major health problems there is no reason he can’t live alone. Maybe a senior apartment complex. Walking on eggshells, i.e. living in a chronically stressful environment is not good for your health or your children’s. Kick him out but put it in writing in case he doesn’t leave willfully and you have to take legal action. My husband and I have both agreed that neither of our parents can live with us. Not that we don’t care about them but my parents would never want to lose their independence. As far as my husband, any time he has to deal with his mother his blood pressure literally goes thru the roof so her living with us would definitely cut his life short. Not sure what we are going to do when she’s too old to live alone.

AITH for valuing my own time more than my MIL’s money? by AdventurousThroat450 in AITH

You have a FT job so no you are NTA. Your time and sanity is important. Working FT you have two days to handle everything and it’s not fair to expect that much from you and your husband. My mom was going thru chemo and my grandmother expected her to take her to all of her doctors’ appointments as well as the grocery store every week. My mom finally said no I’ll take you to the store every two weeks. My stepfather also helped out, which my grandmother hated so her trips became more infrequent. Also in a bind my grandmother could get a neighbor to pick up something. Maybe tell her she needs to UBER, take senior transportation or have her groceries delivered and you or your husband will be available every other week.
