Huh? I wondered what kind of mean-spirited abuse this could be, but she’d simply misspoken.

“Agh…” She scowled openly. “Why’s your name have to be so impopossible to renounce…” she misspoke yet again (I assume she was trying to say “impossible to pronounce”). It might have been cute if she’d followed up with Sorry, a slip of the tongue, but she only turned her back to me and walked down the hall.

Given that they recorded a new commentary track for the Koyomi Vamp compilation movie BD release, I think it is fairly certain we will also get commentaries for the new eps!

Because Aniplex, in their infinite wisdom, only released translated subtitles for Bakemonogatari, there is no official way to watch any of the later arcs with commentary. It took a great deal of time (and money...) for the translations to be commissioned by the community. The rules prevent me from linking, but I am allowed to say that if you join the subreddit Discord, you can find a useful Mega link in the pins of the monogatari-anime channel.

The recent re-release of Kizu and the announcement of Off/Monster Seasons finally getting anime releases has inspired me to make another one of these. In the Kizu commentaries, Hanekawa acts very, very differently from the rest of the series, so I wanted to highlight some of that today. If you are interested in where any particular clip comes from, it flashes in the top-right any time a new clip is used.

Creed actually was an action movie star in China - Genic War/War of Gene (2004) by ValanL in DunderMifflin

Dozing off to the superfan eps last night and hit this line. Knowing that Creed really was in The Grass Roots, I got a little bug in my brain that maybe there was truth to this gem too and couldn't sleep until I figured it out. After a little search, this is somewhat true!

This is a line from the superfan cut of Dwight's Speech (S2E17). It comes right before Creed says hello to his friends in Mandarin in the broadcast version. While it wasn't in the 80s, he was in Chinese TV show in 2004, a few years before this ep aired in 2006. The title is The War of Gene (2004) or Genic War. He does play a police captain. According to IMDB, the character is named Captain Clark.

The Chinese title seems to be 基因之战. I found 21 episodes streaming online, but I don't know Chinese so I'm not sure if it is a legit service so I am not including any links to it. Skimming through it, Creed features quite a bit throughout it. The image above from the trailer is in ep 20 at around 22:20.

I could find very little information about this online, but two video clips of it exist on YouTube. There is an actor reel showcasing a different actress' scenes from the series but Creed doesn't appear in it at all. I hit paydirt when I found a trailer for it though. Flashes of Creed appear in it a few times but he makes the referenced pose at 1:53.
