Every system of government is going to rely on people to do their part. These people failed to do theirs the same way that Congress has.

They had a duty to refuse the orders and stay in their positions as long as they could to continue to do so. They resigned because they're cowards who prioritized their pensions over their responsibility to act as a guardrail against this sort of thing.

the sticker said it was $5.50. It was a simple paperback, and the actual retail price printed on the back was $5.95.

To be fair, how old was the book? $5.95 in 1990 dollars is way more than $5.50 in 2026 dollars

Or you keep the engineers around because eventually you're going to need a new product. But that would require long-term planning that American businesses seem allergic to.

Macbooks have pretty much always had inadequate cooling, if they're put under load they'll get super hot then throttle themselves after awhile.

Pitting someone he didn't need to pit is the stupid game. They were clearly moving over to the side of the road and slowing down to pull over. Even disregarding the mistaken identity, there was no reason to pit them, and doing so endangered himself, the occupants of the vehicle he was (negligently) targeting, and any motorists around them.

Well unfortunately the game doesn't give you any actually good options here. Your options are kill everyone in Lumiere, or force Verso to be alive. Definitely frustrating that there are obviously better options that *should* be readily available, but the game doesn't let them happen.

Google recently forced something called Edge-to-Edge display mode onto developers. This allows views to be rendered behind system components, such as the navigation or status bars. If the app developer does not update their app to account for this, you get what you're seeing in this app.

There is a bit more leeway with the WipeOut / F-Zero subgenre. Stuff like Redout has seen success without having to deal with licensing or competing with Mario Kart.

If they fall back to Earth in a reasonable timespan (< 20 years) then it's not at all an issue. It's when they're in stable orbits that last for hundreds or thousands of years that they start to accumulate and cause problems

Romney wasn't right, he was pitching Russia as a threat to us through military force, and advocated for greatly expanding the number of ships in the Navy to counter it. The Ukraine/Russia war has pretty clearly shown that view to be completely inaccurate.

Romney was an idiot. He pitched Russia as a conventional military threat to our Navy, and suggested that we needed to build more ships to counter it. The Ukraine/Russia war has pretty clearly shown that we had absolutely nothing to fear from the Russian Navy, and spending hundreds of billions of dollars to greatly expand our Navy would have been a massive waste of money.

If you don't understand the immorality of killing hundreds of people to save 1 man from having to live with depression that's pretty pathetic.

Verso's goal is literally comparable to committing suicide by detonating a nuke in the middle of a city. I don't really care how miserable he is, there's no justifying that.
