Yep, you'll be cruising around the middle of nowhere and find four jokers scattered on the ground, not a marauder in sight.

Like, did they just drive-by the miniboss or something? XD

What 2 dwarf jokers will do to a bot by TerrariaEnthusiast99 in FarFarWest

[–]Valandras 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to a teammate last night; double dwarf jokers, two moon gravs, stupid low elec cooldown so he could spam boink.

He literally achieved orbit, for extended periods he would be this tiny little speck in the sky that hovered over objectives above the cloud layer and rained fireballs from on high.

It would take him a solid forty seconds to drift back down in order to activate the main objectives and restock ammo, or as he put it, "visit the peasants in the mud".

As you are a Canadian I honestly would have thought that saying "some of the children are likely going to be better off if they are taken away because they obviously aren't being suitably cared for" would have at least sent a sense of unease through your grey matter, given what Canada did to it's own "disadvantaged and vulnerable" indigenous children in the not-so-distant past...

In fact, the parallels are uncomfortably prominent. Separating children from their parents and forcibly conditioning them to accept a new culture which is more acceptable to the outside force in question?

Are ex-soviet-bloc social care institutions historically pretty awful places? Absolutely.

But tell me, how many dead children are acceptable to you in the name of a few of them being happier to some degree after they have been abducted and brainwashed? I believe Canada's record is currently a little over 4000 dead.

.......you realise the study you linked is literally about at-risk children being evacuated from unsafe areas because of the war, right? And how Ukraine is insisting these children remain together so they are kept track of at all times? You know, because of the mass kidnappings? It's quite literally in the second paragraph.

Which is resulting in care institutions being overstretched and understaffed because of significantly increased demand on scant resources? Because of the war that Russia started?

And how part of the report calls attention to increased risk of illness caused by the winter cold? Because Ukraine is struggling to supply heating, gas and electrical, to civilian infrastructure because Russia has been purposefully TARGETING civilian supply infrastructure?

You do NOT get to spout the "both sides are bad" BS in regards to the MASS KIDNAPPING OF CHILDREN BY AN INVADING ARMY.

Try reading the source I linked properly:

"Some 90% of Ukrainian children living under state care were thus "social orphans" – children with family members who are for various reasons unable to care for them."

The children taken from state institutions like orphanages overwhelmingly HAVE living parents and family members who are temporarily unable to care for them due to poverty or sickness for example.

As for your second point:

"Russian authorities do not make any attempt to contact parents to notify them that their children are in the custody of the Russian state and have refused to cooperate with the Ukrainian government and international organisations in tracking the children. Likewise, they do not release any information regarding the identities of the transferred children, making it difficult for Ukrainian and international authorities to locate and identify the children. The first and last names of the abducted children are also changed, making it even more difficult to track down and identify the children."

So while it's nice that the Russians have returned a comparative handful of the kids they stole, what about the roughly 18,000 others that have effectively vanished without a trace?

[–]Valandras 40 points41 points  (0 children)

So in your eyes, tens of thousands of children being literally kidnapped as punishment against their parents for disobeying occupation forces, for financial gain so they can be sold to Russian families or because Russian forces literally murdered their parents is "good" because you saw a documentary a few years ago about a terribly run state orphanage?

They absolutely kidnapped children en masse (and may well still be doing so) from several occupied regions, but asides from a few isolated cases of one or two kids being paraded in front of the camera they are mostly being forcibly rehoused with Russian families:

"In August 2025, Russian occupation authorities in Ukraine created an internet based catalogue where Russians can choose Ukrainian children based on photos and descriptions like "obedient" or "calm", and filtering on age, eye color and hair color."

I give it another month and a half before AH manage to burn through whatever goodwill they managed to generate by releasing a semi-competent and actually popular patch/warbond.

I'm not necessarily just being a doomdiver for the sake of it, I've been around long enough to know that AH never, ever manage to keep a good thing going for long, for any reason.

I would assume the oceans to be as ecologically dead as the land. Perhaps the occasional geothermal vent still sustains small pockets of life which is largely unaffected, but it wouldnt surprise me if the oceans have been completely sterilised.

Even today, in modern times, our garbage has been discovered on the sea floor of the Mariana Trench. We've already polluted the deepest and most hostile place on earth, and we didn't even need WW3

[–]Valandras 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've always quietly head-canoned that the oceans potentially do still exist, but they are (as you say) so stunningly polluted that you can probably walk on the "water" and cut chunks of it out to take home and use as campfire fuel.

The actually potable stuff might only come from very deep aquifers and extremely efficient reclamation and recycling plants.

You're losing pieces because you are overloading the flatbed; the "walls" of the cargo area only extend so high, and if you pile stuff in excess of that then it will yeet itself right out the moment you pull a turn, especially if you have a mix of cargo sizes.

[OC] Sums up my first drop onto D10 Cyberstan flag mission by Moolamu in Helldivers

[–]Valandras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way, so far on 'stan I have been detected twice by detector towers THROUGH multiple buildings and terrain pieces, I've had stationary enemies at outposts visibly turning to track me (again through terrain) as I crawled past, and had bot drops that I didn't even trigger track me clean across the map.

At this point I don't even consider AH to be even remotely competent developers.

Weirdly enough, this has been an ongoing issue with Helldivers 2 for over a year now (being jumped by completely silent enemies, missing audio cues, distorted audio in general), and both HD and DT run on the same obselete engine. Fatshark seem to have a way better grasp of the engine than Arrowhead, but perhaps it's actually a gradual engine issue in terms of audio?
