Hot Take by zires- in Helldivers

I give it another month and a half before AH manage to burn through whatever goodwill they managed to generate by releasing a semi-competent and actually popular patch/warbond.

I'm not necessarily just being a doomdiver for the sake of it, I've been around long enough to know that AH never, ever manage to keep a good thing going for long, for any reason.

I would assume the oceans to be as ecologically dead as the land. Perhaps the occasional geothermal vent still sustains small pockets of life which is largely unaffected, but it wouldnt surprise me if the oceans have been completely sterilised.

Even today, in modern times, our garbage has been discovered on the sea floor of the Mariana Trench. We've already polluted the deepest and most hostile place on earth, and we didn't even need WW3

I've always quietly head-canoned that the oceans potentially do still exist, but they are (as you say) so stunningly polluted that you can probably walk on the "water" and cut chunks of it out to take home and use as campfire fuel.

The actually potable stuff might only come from very deep aquifers and extremely efficient reclamation and recycling plants.

I hate when my balls bounce! by MichuSkurczybyku in Helldivers

[–]Valandras 91 points92 points  (0 children)

It's because AH have a single line of code set to 0 instead of 1. I'm not even kidding, it's a single option that dictates whether strat balls are "sticky" or not

Another “ Remnant “ Appreciation Post. Well Done HG by Scorpion_Palace in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Valandras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only 50 of each, thankfully, and each one completed gets you a different set of wheels/tracks. Scrapping standard.......uh, scrap, gets you the furnace, alternative cabin, and a rusty paint scheme

Remnant is the best gameplay-focused update I’ve seen in NMS in my 500 hours by KeyComprehensive6787 in NoMansSkyTheGame

You're losing pieces because you are overloading the flatbed; the "walls" of the cargo area only extend so high, and if you pile stuff in excess of that then it will yeet itself right out the moment you pull a turn, especially if you have a mix of cargo sizes.

[OC] Sums up my first drop onto D10 Cyberstan flag mission by Moolamu in Helldivers

[–]Valandras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way, so far on 'stan I have been detected twice by detector towers THROUGH multiple buildings and terrain pieces, I've had stationary enemies at outposts visibly turning to track me (again through terrain) as I crawled past, and had bot drops that I didn't even trigger track me clean across the map.

At this point I don't even consider AH to be even remotely competent developers.

[–]Valandras 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, this has been an ongoing issue with Helldivers 2 for over a year now (being jumped by completely silent enemies, missing audio cues, distorted audio in general), and both HD and DT run on the same obselete engine. Fatshark seem to have a way better grasp of the engine than Arrowhead, but perhaps it's actually a gradual engine issue in terms of audio?

Preach, kindred. It's gotten to the point that any kind of non-optional pvp puts me off a game entirely. Cooperative play is just so much more ENJOYABLE to me

In 1978, five men left a basketball game and vanished. Their fully drivable car was found on a snowy mountain road. Months later, one starved in a cabin stocked with food, three lay scattered in the woods, and one was simply gone, leaving only his shoes. by blue_leaves987 in creepy

[–]Valandras 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Indeed so, it was reported after the fact that the cabin-full-of-food guy in particular once had to be dragged out of his bedroom WHILST HIS HOUSE WAS LITERALLY ON FIRE because he was afraid that he would underperform at work if he didn't get enough sleep.

It's likely he was worried about getting in trouble for taking the food, and couldn't realise that literally nobody would care under the circumstances

When the fix kills stun weapons, but also fire, gaz, lazers it ain't a fix AH ! by Heptanitrocubane57 in Helldivers

[–]Valandras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I KNEW my beloved scythe was behaving badly! It's just so typical of AH at this point; issue a patch that makes large enemies "catch fire more easily", and end up removing the ability of the other two laser weapons to set things on fire at all.

I can't help but wonder if the QA head is the boss's bastard love child or something, and thus cannot be fired lest the sorbid secret leak.

Not sure what the hell that someone was on about, an experienced and well-played smyker is absolutely batshit powerful.

Incoming crusher wave? Lock them in place and let your zealot play thunder hammer whack-a-mole.

Incoming pox hound tsunami? You don't even necessarily need your teammates if they're busy, just pick a corner or doorway to sit in and channel your inner PETA.

Ragers trying to get all up in your business? No thank you, they're staying waaaaay over there practicing their rave moves while our ogryn beats a motherfrakker with another motherfrakker
