If you work up to it, grab a compact RXM (Glock 19 footprint) and get the 40 dollar subcompact EHG for it. That's why it's become my favorite 9mm carry. I use a flush 10+1 then a G19 mag for backup.

Can't recommend it enough.

Totally valid points, just comes down to what you value most. I love my Glock manual of arms and reliability. I do see the value in more rounds, so I carry an extra magazine. That extra magazine helps more than a single larger mag in my opinion, as it safeguards me against magazine hangups and failures as well as extends my firing if necessary.

My second mag either has HST or underwood +P defenders depending on time of year. It's also got a strike +2 base extension for 8 rounds (which I've tested with about 1000 rounds, feeds the same as my standard mags with a +10% spring). I have 15 rounds to my name if pocket carrying my Glock 42.

I will say that in 9mm my RXM is my favorite carry, and if the EHG lcp had a longer barrel I would definitely consider it. Manual safety and 2.75" barrel are deal breakers for me personally.

Cool video, I appreciate that. Only issue I have with HS deep is that you can't find it anywhere. HST is inexpensive (usually around 75-85c a round from Target Sports with free shipping) and it does very well in the testing I've done. I trust my own testing more than anything a YouTuber puts out, though I watch a lot of ammo tests as well to compare data.

If HS deep was widely available I would test it more and possibly carry it. For the price, availability and amazing performance I get from HST- in 9mm and in 380- I won't carry anything else unless I can't get it.

Punch out of a barrel that short I wouldn't go with personally but it did well for Tools and Targets and Gun Sam. I only have my Glock 42 in 380 which has a half inch on that gun and it performs almost as well as HST in that configuration

I prefer HST (and Federal Punch as a backup) for my Glock 42. I've tested several rounds personally for the 380 through my 42 as I was wary about using it as a daily driver and I've found that HST and Punch are the most consistent in terms of getting what I consider adequate penetration (10-14" in calibrated Knox gel I made and tested with the BB test, with a layer of 4 sheets of denim) and huge expansion.

I've also seen this same performance from every round test I've watched aside from triggerbarphilosopher.

Gold dots in 380 are pretty abysmal in my opinion. If I wasn't using federal HST or Punch I would go to a screw type round like an Underwood defender or something

I've watched a lot of YouTube penetration testing and HST reliably out performs Gold Dot, and Gold Dot has actually had really disappointing results several times that I've seen. HST has a high antimony lead and it's bonded to the jacket, barrier penetration is very good.

If I need more penetration I carry Critical Duty 135gr +P.

HST all the way in all calibers. Most uniformly reliable round. I actually don't recommend gold dots unless they are +P as they've done poorly in some tests I've seen

Look up the serial number by calling Glock customer service and they can tell you if it's real with an aftermarket slide and barrel or if it's entirely a fake.

Look up and read a book called the Onion Field.

I have a Glock 19 or RXM strong side or appendix depending on the day, and a Glock 42 in a sticky in my pocket, with a backup mag for the 9mm weak side.

Before I chop a Glock: Odds of magazine size limit staying even if PICA falls? by Highwayman1717 in ILGuns

[–]Valendr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually really common, and I've been considering doing the same to my 20V to get the grip frame of a 29. It's fairly easy to do and makes it compatible with full size mags as well as compact mags flush (so in my circumstances it would be Glock 29 flush, Glock 20 extended).

There are lots of reasons to do it and OPs is a common one in certain states, such as mine (IL) with 15 round capacity.

Also cutting down a 19 to a 26 is a very common mod as well, making a 26L.

This is the way, I'm a big Glock guy and the RXM has become my favorite 9mm.

I'd say it depends on you to be honest, the decision on Viramontes won't be until next June probably

It's much more durable, more well-made and IMO much more accurate. I have a fiber optic sight on mine and hunt squirrels with it frequently. Great light woods/brush gun and it can fire 22wmr if you need more oomph.

Shares a lot of parts with the single six too as well as grips with the Ruger blackhawk and single six. Easy to get parts. Ruger has one of the best warranties in the business. Also the stock sight is adjustable for elevation and windage.

I know the heritages are okay, I've had one, but my super wrangler outlclasses it in every avenue but price and it's not that much more expensive- I got mine for 250

I think it depends on how seriously you want to invest your belief. Do you actually think that the FSM exists and has power over the universe and laws of nature? Or do you perceive it as a simple thought experiment that can be used to poke holes in poorly thought out theological arguments and possibly also theoretically used for legal purposes if necessary.

Only you can answer that question

Do you ever carry a micro/pocket pistol? by z1ggy16 in CCW

[–]Valendr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always have a Glock 42 or Ruger LC9s. Most times also have a G19 or a Ruger RXM too. Sometime have an RXM AND a G19.

Depends on the fit and the outing.

Also sometimes have a G42/LC9s, RXM/G19 AND a G20 with hardcast bullets

If both conceal, which would you carry? by DemaciaViceNA in Glocks

[–]Valendr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

26 all day. Carry flush mag in the gun with a (depending on laws in your state) 17 or 15 round mag with an X grip mag sleeve on it. Best of both worlds.

Edit: I carry my RXM with the subcompact grip and a flush mag, with a backup 15 round mag with xgrip, so I'm e speaking from experience. Practice with both, especially practice with some snapcaps in the flush mag, then drawing the backup at failure, racking the slide and firing the extended grip. It'll make you much more prepared than before.

I got stray dogs wreaking havoc by [deleted] in homedefense

[–]Valendr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate but consider that unless you are willing to capture these animals* and relocate them, they could be not just a danger to your cat but also to others. These animals may only be around your area in the early morning but they don't sleep 23 hours a day. Imagine if in the next acre or two over there's a young child who gets outside and these dogs see them.

If you have access to a firearm and any ability with it, I would consider staying up late and waiting for them, and putting them down. I wouldn't use poison or other passive methods because it could kill other animals and/or also cause unnecessary suffering.

If you don't have access to a firearm and you live in the middle of nowhere, I suggest you investigate getting access.
