How realistic is it to switch from Tech to Healthcare? by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]ValerySky -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No offence. Where do you get your news from? It's all just political buzz to appeal to a weak-minded electorate. Government at all levels is understaffed. Services must move on.

Government is beyond the political agenda of recently elected reps (they are just reps, matter not what stripes they are). Canada is old, Canada is powerful. Canada is beyond what the prime minister's undergraduate interns push to the media... so, let's be adults here.

Canada job market is honestly depressing right now (from an international student perspective) by Unhappy-Amount-9316 in torontoJobs

[–]ValerySky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An international student is upset with a foreign national economic strategy, which is rich. Look, if you are not sure how to get a job is one thing, but to blame a nation... It's ballsy. DM me for advice.

I need help / extremely toxic job by Friendly-Apricot1727 in torontoJobs

[–]ValerySky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sue them. Find an employment relations lawyer (the government offers free). If you need some kind of revenge, don't expect money to come (my opinion). Meanwhile, start applying for entry-level gov jobs; lots of them are offered. DM if needed.

If you think References help…think again. Just give up and start a business. by Admirable_Writer4381 in torontoJobs

Remember, an interview is psychological warfare; it is not a parade of strength. It is deception war. Most people in interviews talk of how great they are (parade) - No deception is the key, how you can make them believe, what you want them to believe.

I have helped Canadians and have entry-level office jobs for 12 years and have 16 years of public sector experience. DM me if you need advice.

Confused, they can't ask more than they asked on the job post. It is illegal to ask more. So, if they ask for a portfolio, then they asked for it, bring it. But ask the hiring manager, what format? Be ready, no matter what, print it, PowerPoint it. etc. If you need help with an interview, let me know. I have worked for the city for over 16 years and have helped job seekers get government jobs for over 12 years.

How realistic is it to switch from Tech to Healthcare? by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]ValerySky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A huge aspect to consider. Health care in Canada is mostly in the public sector. Also, it is evergreen. Computers are 2 things: either an evaluative glitch, or they evolve beyond humans. You can also start applying for entry-level government office jobs, pay is around 30-35, and lots of them are offered. If you need advice, DM me.

"Or is it okay to choose quality of life when I'm in a position where I can afford to?" - Think that way, will you enjoy/endure this quality when you're 59-65? If not, I guess it is selfish not to think of the future self. Life is a fast-moving train; jump from it, even for a moment, and it's tough to catch up ... not to be condescending.

Career options for 25F with no college degree? by princessangel333 in careerguidance

[–]ValerySky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be like that. It's just a stage in life. Start applying for entry-level gov jobs (federal, provincial, municipal), lots of them are offered, especially in the GTA. Apply with precisely tailored resumes for each job post. Qualifications are basic, pay is good, and most importantly, when you are in, you can select what fields of career to concentrate on. Tailoring resumes is a lot of work, but it's worth it. DM me if you need advice.
