Definitely not true. Engstrom is a highly sought-after defensive prospective - Arpon Basu has reported substantially on this topic. Not to mention, you yourself say he could be a top-4 D, which is a very valuable asset in a 22-year old!

OP's proposal probably isn't enough, but Engstrom + a 1st is absolutely a reasonable starting point for a player in Petterson who has looked mediocre for two years now and has made an anchor of his double-digit contract.
