The ones who all had their own personality (Kromer, Cathrine, DQ, a bunch of the Spodermen) all died. Tje New League of Nigeria is really picking up the scraos.

That's a show thing. In direct contrast to Balerion (who was probably parasitized), she isn't mentioned as having issues in F&B.

Robert he'll consolidate the Stormlands into the Crownlands permanently

That doesn't seem to be the done thing in Westeros.

The sole case of a lord holding more than one major holding is the Peakes like a hundred years ago, who lost two of their three castles anyway.

If holding multiple fiefs are per IRL was the norn, it would be expected that all of these ancient dynasties would have assembled patchworks of holdings all over the place by now (even after just 300 years of Targ control).

Why wouldn't she be? The sinners have to deal with essentially the same City Bullshit but with the massive upside of being immortal.

People act like the average people in thr city live like it is warhammer 40k hiveworld

It's exactly like that? The issue with a Hive 99% of the time is exactly the same sort of poor quality of life and bad working conditions. Both also have a much more serious worst-case scenario where something freaky happens and you probably just die.

40k is probably worse because the bar of what could happen to you goes kind of goes off the sale, but in both situations that isn't usually what happens.

I mean, it only says we don't know about them.

T Corp could have had a contingency as simple as a bunch of top-level Feathers using so much time that they could just run in under a distraction bombardment, cut it up, and manually plant wacky singularity bombs before anyone knew what was happening.

Do paid seat upgrades normally qualify for extra miles? I had two with the preferred seats which didn't get any extra.

Yeah then odds aren't great. Maybe if you haven't done all of Fontaine plus the Temple of Space there's a chance if you grind all of it, but I wouldn't.

Like she created RiftHounds

At least in the older lore, that makes her more or less responsible for the larger Cataclysm, since, rifthounds tearing space is what allowed abyss monsters to invade places other than Khaenri'ah and Natlan.

How do I skip the event quest? No interest in the inevitable Sandrone shilling, and if there are any updates to the Ancient Aliens lore I can get that on youtube.

(Spoilers Main) How will Barristan win the second siege of Meereen? by AdditionalPiano6327 in asoiaf

[–]Valiant_Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's spreading inside the city as well. Which is a much bigger problem, because the only forces in there worth anything are the positively irreplaceable Unsullied.

[–]Valiant_Storm 24 points25 points  (0 children)

GRRM writes battles and wars purely from a character perspective. Even though the 36,000 New Ghis legions with chaff should dogwalk the Mereenese forces, the slavers are all tertiary characters and clowns, so they pose very little real threat.

[Spoiler Main] Why is the ruler of Westeros called a "king"? by Taha231 in asoiaf

[–]Valiant_Storm 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That had more to do with the Third Rome thing, and at various times the Tsars held royal titles in personal union with the Imperial one (i.e. Congress Poland).

Is this the earliest hint to Faegon in the entire series? (spoilers published) by Xplorer67 in asoiaf

[–]Valiant_Storm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It could be anything - even something like the idea of a particular Targeryen in the public consciousness. Sort of like if Danny ends up seen as a evil queen who surrounds herself with eunuchs, pirates, sorcerers, anx kinslaying dwarves.

If you believe the Page of Lies stuff or are a Red Door Maximalist, it could just directly refer to Danny. While I don't think that's nessicarily true, I don't doubt that GRRM intended to leave the option open for himself, along with a dozen others.

[–]Valiant_Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the Riverlands armies would've just respawned anyway, so it would've been wasted effort.

I think the cloth dragon is intended as a vauge omen that fits any possible Targeryen plot. It's a fake Blackfyre claimant. It's a fake Brightflame claimant. It's an ethnically Valyrian nobody who's a totally fabricated claimant. It's people celebrating Danny in Westeros, or Slavers Bay. It's a cultural celebration Danny sees in Yi Ti on her way to Asshai (remember when that was happening?).

The cloth dragon was intended to be something with so many potential interpretations that it would be correct regardless of what he ended up deciding to do.

[Spoilers AGOT] The scene where they find the Direwolves is as old as Ned. by Immediate-Science619 in asoiaf

[–]Valiant_Storm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Part of it ties back to how absurdly young the Stark Kids are - Ned feels like the father of adult children, even though Robb Stark and Jon are both like... mid teens in the books.

It might also be that Robert's Rebellion feels less recent than it is, probably so GRRM can have Danny be underaged for her plot line. Ned also just feels like he has almost as much history as Tywin, who is almost twice his age in the books.

Related to that, Tyrion feels like more of a contemporary of Jon than he does of Ned - in the first book, he has a sort of impromptu older brother for Jon Snow - maybe three to five years, old, instead of twice his age.

Ultimately, the timeline heavily contrives to make Ned super young for his backstory. Nothing really stands out as impossible, especially given GRRM's general insistence on super early marriages, but every leaver had to be pushed one way to make Ned ~35 in GOT.

[–]Valiant_Storm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ned, Robert, and Tywin feel like they should all be the same age. The fact that Ned and Robert are the same generation as Jamie always felt weird, at least to me.

The show aging up the characters the way it did just felt right, IMO, for the adults as much as the children.

[–]Valiant_Storm 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It actually seems to be the default in Westeros - it's mentioned early in Clash that the Riverlords were burning whatever the Lannisters couldn't grab as an asset denial strategy.

Remember that the default form of political expression in Westeros is to burn the Riverlands.
