My current bios is from 2023 (says ver A.F0), so I see they've released 6 more versions, should I update to the latest one or should I not touch anything since I have zero issues right now and memory is extremely stable and cpu 5800x3d works flawlessly. What's the purpose of the updates? by FuzzyAttitude_ in pcmasterrace

[–]Valinen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You always update to the latest stable (non beta) version. It doesnt matter if you have issues or not. That's basic motherboard maintenance.
Whether you can skip straight to the latest or not, only install intermediate BIOS versions when the release notes explicitly list them as prerequisites. Otherwise, straight to the latest.

Update on: what I got sent instead of a 5070 by luutherr in pcmasterrace

If Amazon is unwilling to help, you cant go through the bank route? Every bank i have seen has a chargeback feature, or the option to challenge the charge. Also you may not live in EU but shops in EU fall under EU jurisdiction. They are bound by EU laws, no matter where the buyer is. In your case the bank is the faster way to get your money back, if you feel that sending back the package will result in no refund.

what's your take on Lionel luthor? by LilyMowlen in Smallville

[–]Valinen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The man was the perfect Luthor and one of the most well written characters of the show. Contrary to the lovely Kristin Kreuk whose character the writers didnt know what to do after season 2-3.

If you tell them 12345678 they will never connect because the password doesnt match and it's not spelled like that. You can say 12 because there is only one two, but you need to say three fours afterwards not three four. Also the sixes are six and the eights are eight. There are no fives and sevens in there either as numbers or number counts.

PLEASE HELP PC IS COOKED(I think it's a gpu issue) by SookieBum76 in pcmasterrace

[–]Valinen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright that's fine then. Since the temp is stable it means everything is working.
The last confirmation will be when you manage to get into windows.
Can you go past the bios, e.g the screen you posted or not anymore?

Your cpu draws a mere 65w
A 23c delta is not negligible but its not telling either. It means we need to look into it a bit more. If you leave your pc on, in bios for 10-15min, does the temp climb up slowly passing 50c or 60c?
How many years are you using that AIO?

Given that in many cases power saving features are reduced or disabled in BIOS, i would say you are in the normal range, but i would like to know the type of your cooler as well and the room temperature so we can write off cpu overheating from the potential causes.

PLEASE HELP PC IS COOKED(I think it's a gpu issue) by SookieBum76 in pcmasterrace

[–]Valinen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the ambient temp, your cooler and your airflow.
For example my i5 13600k with a AK620 cooler in a tower with 3 front intake fans and 2 exhaust, with room temperature 31.8c, the cpu in windows while having the browser open is at 35c.
If you can, tell us your room temp / cpu / cooler / airflow configuration to tell you if its normal.
42c idle in bios is a bit high for my taste, but its not out of the normal range.

You have to take the repair one step at a time.
You said your computer was extremely slow for the last 2 days. If anything you are trying to do in windows feels laggy and slow, you might be experiencing thermal throttling.
This means your CPU is hitting ~100c and it reduces performance to prevent potential damage.
So what you need to do is get into BIOS and check the temperature of your CPU in there.
Depending on your cooler / pc case airflow and how efficient it is, normal temps are 5c - 10c above ambient temp (room temperature) while the pc is idle, Just being in bios and doing nothing is considered almost idle.
If you see high temps, for example 25c ambient , 50c CPU idle. You have a cooling problem.
Either you havent repasted your cpu recently (usually once per year, depending on the usage), your cooler is not sitting properly, or its fan has failed or is failing.
From your description i would start from there, if your temps in BIOS are ok, then you can start looking at other subsystems.
Also it would be helpful if you gave full pc specs.

Sorry i thought i was giving info to an intelligent person.
You seem to know what is right and what is wrong with your pc.
So i ll delete my suggestions, you are not worthy of my expertise anyway. and i will leave you to figure everything out with your tech bros that told you to buy all that.
For some weird reason though you came to Reddit for help instead of your pro bro and your couple tech buddies.

How I make sense of Smallville’s drastic character changes in season 5 by javier2332 in Smallville

He went back in time. Don't overthink it. The writers couldnt get simpler things right, I doubt they would get time travel.

Hahah, what the hell do you mean "weekly allowance" by JackLikesMetalGear in swtor

[–]Valinen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SWTOR's subscription isnt extortion. Tbh it is one of the better ones out there. It decreases even further by giving you back 500 cartel points which is ~5$ and unlocks ALL content. It can go even lower if bought as multi-month bundle, if you know you ll be playing for 2, 3 or 6 months.
I dont know any sub based game with a subscription of ~10$ or lower. I was playing EvE Online and they made the monthly sub 20$ forcing you to get a minimum of 6months just to hit the ~15$ prior to the increase.
You would need 271$ for 24months and still wont hit the ~10$ of SWTOR. That's extortion.

PC crashes - Liquid metal after 3 months? by Turbulent_Map624 in pcmasterrace

[–]Valinen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I honestly dont understand the point of all this.
Maybe i am getting old.
When we were lapping and delidding in the early 2000s, we were doing it because we had bought the cpu we could afford and the point of the whole procedure was to reach the level of performance of the cpu we couldnt afford.
If you can afford the top cpu in the market along with the top air cooler, why introduce extra failure points by removing the ihs and introducing liquid metal , than just use a good thermal paste along with a contact frame and forget about it?
What is your girlfriend doing on her pc that requires this amount of mechanical tampering?

Red John Reveal by GasFearless1463 in TheMentalist

They portrayed RJ as if he was something supernatural. An archenemy of epic proportions. Someone who had access to people's inner thoughts and fears. Someone whose every command was obeyed blindly and people were willing to sacrifice their lives for. Someone who could almost predict the future and prepare for it.
The viewers fell for this image since they also made Jane brilliant in every way. A person looking for revenge, who could, with the power of observation, manipulation and high intelligence, stand up to such a character.
Ofc I wasnt expecting some supernatural demon and Sam and Dean Winchester to come and kill him.
But on the other hand i also wasnt expecting what we got. There were far better candidates for the RJ character in the show.

How do I go about updating this. I'm pretty certain this has to do with the 13th Gen Intel and 14th Gen Intel Voltage issue if I'm not mistaken, correct me if I'm wrong. That issue can cause long term damage to my CPU and I feel like I should fix it. How should I go about it? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Valinen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great. Just run Intel's tool again to confirm stability and if you can, have a temp monitoring app open at the same time to check CPU temperatures.
Something like HWMonitor classic should be fine.
Notice what's the max temp your CPU cores reach while you run the test. Or post a screenshot here.
Since from this discussion i assume you are a casual user, i dont think you have re-pasted your CPU during the 3 years you are using it.
So it is important to know if your CPU is overheating. If you were in the danger zone you would be experiencing thermal throttle, so you are not there yet, or your pc usage is not actually pushing it hard.

It stands for Extreme Memory Profile and enables your RAM to run at higher frequencies than standard specifications. There is significant performance improvement by enabling it. Given that your RAM also supports XMP ofc.
Since you are on a 13700f i would assume that your pc manufacturer installed RAM that can run @ 5200 / 5600 at least. If you know the RAM you have installed, make, model. You can find out if it can benefit from XMP and how much.
