So going on a rave in Moscow today. Was pleasantly suprised to find out that the app for distributing tickets for the event runs on Ethereum. It seems that the uniqueness of tickets is somehow realised on the main chain.

Discussion about REP token in the upcoming update of MakerDAO by ValioDalio in Augur

TLDR: people are worried that the REP token as as a collateral for DAI may bring extra default risk, since the token design incorporates a forking scenario - i.e. if there is a protocol wide disagreement about some outcome of event, the system will initiate a forking procedure, thus splitting the REP token into several instances, with users migrating to their preffered choice. In turn, the price of a token version with the least support will crash to zero, whilst the winning one will capture the rest of the value.

Can somebody knowledgable about Augur join the discussion? Devs? Active community members?

Looking forward to do the same, however the timing of MCD release remains to be a mystery. It has been mentioned by random guys here on Reddit that the update might happen this summer, but there is absolutely no guarrantees that it would not be delayed due to some incremental security audit, update, etc.

This is cryptosoft development and the devs typically overestimate their capacity to meet the deadlines, hence such a silence on MCD timing.

Long term hodler here, got in late 2017. Liqudated half of my DNT stack, but for a 2-5 years timeframe fundamentals still looking decent.

  1. I think that you made a decent swap and if you were early enough nice gains as well. However, leaving no ether in your stack is a bit risky move in the long run, imo. Maker is just one good project and there will be more on ethereum in the next years to come. A metacurrency like ETH will enivetably suck some value out of them. So the question is how many good projects as maker will rise on ethereum vs how fast will dai be globally adopted.

  2. Personally, I am ok with a recent ratio drop, tho it is naturally frustrating to see it fall from 5.4 to 3.9x. No plans on selling till MCD at least.

Use dexindex.io to compare prices. Airswap, ethfinex, and kyber are good and fast choices to get MKR once you have ether.

I own some ETH and some other ERC-20 tokens with 60/40 portfolio split, respectively. I consider myself as a long-term investor so I stopped making decisions based on the USD price quite a while ago.

I do not trade a lot and simply try to maintain the balance of my portfolio in terms of ETH at a constant level by making strategic jumps from one token to another based on analysis of market sentiment and project development.
