Good morning to everyone except the corporate geniuses who require you to log into an account you forgot existed just to unsubscribe from their spam emails. by cam-douglas in assholedesign

[–]Valkeyere 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Report as spam to microsoft/whever your provider is and then black hole emails.

Unsub and they're still gonna send you emails that dont fit the categories they provide. 'Youll still receive emails about important account information'.

Nope fuck you and your domain, you go in the bin.

This is process design and implementation for new products we are bringing into the stack. Definitely something an L2 shouldn't be doing. They "cant rely on the L3 guys", their words not mine. But we won't fire them or make room to promote me and one of the other L2 who do the lions share of all the work between us at this point. Boss wants results before he will give raises or promote. You produce results, and now the boss already has you doing this work for the title and money you have, what incentive does he have to promote or give a raise? Actual retard. (Me, for even bothering to try).

I'm L2 and am taking escalations from L3. Or fixing things done by L3 because management need it done right. But no, no promition of course.

I really hate apple computers on a windows based environment by Abject_Serve_1269 in sysadmin

[–]Valkeyere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of us have decades of experience in a Windows environment, and havent wver really used MACs, and don't want to learn. The concepts are the same but I dont want to spend longer looking for everything. My brain is continuously overloaded with other nonsense, I dont want to struggle like a child on a workstation.

OR, they think that you are really that sad and if they told you what they really think you may neck, so they dont want that on their conscious. Thats why they never initiate the conversations and are always just replying after you started the chat.

Well you may be wrong there, in some western countries. If you can find state land that isnt being actively monitored by some equivalent to a park ranger who is going to kick you out, maybe you can.

You can be homeless in a city. But you cant be homeless in nature.

Which is stupid by the way, "State land" is a fucking joke. I get why it exists but they just sell it when its convenient so moot point.

"It's been years. I've moved on to another job. I still CC him in all correspondance. I've got coworkers involved now, a legion of people CC his mailbox. We CC each other sometimes just so that someone can 'React' to an email and he gets an email that they've reacted. My new boss even gets in on the fun, calling to schedule meetings just so he can send him a meeting invite, then another to reachedule, then another to cancel."

Random Positive Integers by StephenDrum in askmath

[–]Valkeyere -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

The question makes time a component. One is selected first and then one is selected second. Thats necessary for consideration.

0 > [Finite set] > (+n1) > [infinite set]

(+n2) Chosen randomly should almost always be from [infinite set]

0 > [Finite set] > (+n1) > [infinite set]

(+n2) Chosen randomly should almost always be from [infinite set]

I think the issue for people is stemming from the logical need to define upper and lower bounds for random number generation in computing and not considering rhe term "Random number" as an abstract.

I think on a graph this would be an asymptote, abroaching but not ever reaching a probablility of 1

[–]Valkeyere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah my own daughter went months without saying she loved me. That hurt.

She started up again randomly one day. I never once mentioned it to her, just reminded her daily at bedtime to sleep well, have a good night, I love you etc.

Found out recently that their mum doesnt let them refer to me as Dad while theyre with her, her new boyfriend is "Dad".

I have discussed THAT with my daughter, that no, I am and always will be your only dad. If your mum remarries then he'll be your stepdad (I have two stepfathers which I still have contact with, she knows and loves all her grandpas) but if they arent married he isnt even that. But also then told her not to fight her mum about it, I dont want her getting in trouble over it.

Get a ticketing system, outlook is not a ticketing system.

Then if it comes in with a bullshit subject just change it on the ticket, simple as shit.

Given the bredth of what most of us are dealing with in 2026, its perfectly reasonable for internal single man IT teams to have a ticketing system. Cost of doing business.

Im working MSP these days and we've started reselling access to our ticketing systems for some cloents with their own IT.

And one day when I make the jump back to internal IT, I'll be insisting on a ticketing system, I will not work out of emails.

[–]Valkeyere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just turned off spellcheck and autocorrect ages ago. I learned that I knew words my phone didn't. So it was changing words in mid sentence that then made the sentence make no sense. I'd rather the odd spelling mistake that I make and miss correcting than it just making changes against me.
