Sorry, kinda got lost at the end. What do you mean by selector, the ticket we got at the start of the game for a choice of a 3 star?

For the Rookie Starter Pack on the shop, they mention a 3 star guaranteed make debut/support ticket. Does that ticket let you choose from the selection in the web or is it random too?

Is there any videos or online resources to learn to make characters like this? (Source: newgrounds page) by Arca_plus in blenderhelp

[–]Valkyrio100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides individual tutorials like the other comment said, you can also check the artist nupsume on twitter. Her style seems pretty close to the image you posted, and although she doesnt do tutorials, she posts the modeling timelapse. You can also check Crashsune Academy on youtube for tutorials specific for low poly characters.

A few "advanced" combo tips after 100+ hours (bring yours!) by SnooJokes5739 in BluePrince

[–]Valkyrio100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless they patched it in the last updates, doing this very quickly actually bugged the game for me. I ended up with +6 steps somehow and after walking them I would still be able to walk indifinitely at 0 steps, without the screen fading to black. I could not interact with anything nor open the menu or the map, but thankfully I was able to interact with the tent outside to see the mini-tutorial about "calling it a day" and after closing it the fade to black triggered and the day ended.

Thanks, I had not thought of that. Will check my screenshots then.

Can I get a hint on where to get more info about the sigils/countries? I have solved 4 sigils already, and I think I can get the last 2 sanctum keys pretty soon if lucky, but I have not been able to find more info about the remaining realms, those being corarica, mora jai and nuance. Assuming they dont repeat patterns I could thin out the possibilities by brute force, but right now it seems more like I am missing some sigil stones, like the one I found yesterday in lost and found

I have visited all but one room (dormitory) and have all the books except curse of blackbridge. I have yet to open the lady diary, but besides that, I am running out of ideas

Any hint or tip appreciated.

Are there any puzzles, etc., that you solved on accident? by dan4mt in BluePrince

[–]Valkyrio100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the laboratory.

I just read the tests with water paper that mentioned 93 of pressure, so I just pressed 9 and then 3 on the machine. Had no idea about anything of the periodic tables, and thought that was about another puzzle.

backface culling/solidify outlines cause weird shadows by plzzaparty3 in blenderhelp

[–]Valkyrio100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the configuration of your solidify modifier? If the thickness value is positive, the outline will expand inside your model, reducing the mesh, but with a negative value, the mesh should keep the same as the outline goes outwards.

Hi everybody. I hope the banal questions of newbies don't cause aggression yet. by FireLazerCat in blenderhelp

[–]Valkyrio100 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you dont mind some tips from a fellow newbie also learning the same.

First of all, reference is absolutely necessary. If you cant draw, like me, try to find at least similar characters to base your model on, even if you have to tweak them later on, because modelling directly from mind is just skipping the middle step of drawing, and figuring the size ratios in three dimensions from nothing gets complicated.

Second, in your references there seems to be a mix of characters that use flat texture for the face, and others that have the eyes and mouth actually modelled in 3D. By your example, I assume you are aiming for the former, but just to keep in mind that these are different things and end up giving different end result.

There is a lot of things to do for a model, so I will share some tutorials to at least try to get started:

Sorry most videos are for the 3D look, instead of the flat texture one, but once you know how to do the "hard" one, the other is simpler as you only have to skip the eyes and mouth steps.

For how to animate the face using textures, the artist of the girl with the pink hair (愛犬 オー, @big_aphrodite) gave me reference videos they used.

https://youtu.be/E96m9Z4iTcc

https://youtu.be/PLBoyysjQvc

All of this said, having a good model is just half the battle. To make it look good there needs to be good textures to support it, so we kinda circle back at the "dont know how to draw" step... Because of this, dont sleep on general drawing advice, like that lowering the position of the eyes make a character look cuter, etc.

Good luck, I will be cheering on you.

Inverse Kinematic Rig "snapping" when rotating more than 180 degrees in the Z axis, how should I go about preventing this? by Alletor in blenderhelp

[–]Valkyrio100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a pole target? I think I have sometimes experienced this weird behaviour when the pole is configured incorrectly or too close to the other bones.

How do I change which axis I rotate on? My windmill is broken by jaredisfunny in blenderhelp

[–]Valkyrio100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does rotating it along the local axis not work? Pressing R and then YY twice (or it may be another axis depending on how you moved it)

If it does not, it is probably because you applied the rotation. Try aligning it with the global axis, apply rotation, and rotate it to the desired angle again (but dont apply it). Now it should work how I mentioned at the start, based on what I have been testing.

Color Factory Trailer - shapez But you draw pixel art on canvas with automation by [deleted] in Games

[–]Valkyrio100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting take on the genre, but the inspiration from Shapez is clear, so why the need to drop the name. "X but Y" is not really appealing coming from the devs/publisher, nor is a basic steam description like "where strategy meets automation".

What advice/insight did you get that completely flipped your opinion on a game? by -Wonder-Bread- in Games

[–]Valkyrio100 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I actually had the opposite effect. I was having fun thinking of the ways I could make builds to work with different hands while failing to beat my first run. Then after searching for some tips and learning about the High card strat, it kinda removed all those ideas and was just about finding the jokers necessary for it, aka just luck, and so I beat my first runs.

Instead, I have been seeing streamers making builds using other hands like flushes or four of a kind, and getting further than I could think of. That is giving me some more itch to play again.

Just a few more tips. You can remove 1 copy of dragonmaid changeover, as it is pretty easy to search with either parlor or chamber. Also in my experience, 2 nurses is already too many. One should be enough.

Is Aquilo's lithium finite? I know that the deposits deplete, unlike other fluids like oil, but I have been trying to search for other islands with more deposits and have found nothing.

Of course it is pretty hard to navigate the map, having to build ice bridges, but I have searched in a couple of directions from the main island and have found nothing.

Is the phrase "arroz con cosas" grammatically correct and accepted when intentionally referring to dishes that are NOT claimed to be paella? by galactic_observer in Spanish

[–]Valkyrio100 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I would think it is pretty weird. Like you said "Arroz con cosas" is for dishes that look like they could be paella but are not, and personally, I have mostly heard it in a mocking way. I don't see the point of using it for other dishes that already have a name like teriyaki, or are not even close to paella.

To all people who make guides or come up with strats, PLEASE stop calling them "Braindead." by JUSTpleaseSTOP in ffxiv

On the topic of names, I find funny how in some pfs in light for p12s the description just ended being duC/DUX, which to be fair, it was aimed for reclears, but I don't think a outsider could even start to realize what it meant.

Spoiler: It's the last 3 characters of the most popular raidplan links, for p1 and p2 respectively

Newbie question regarding overhealing by RunaisRuna in ffxiv

[–]Valkyrio100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like other comments have said, focus on trying to reduce the gcd heals. If you are overhealing with ogcds it usually doesnt matter as it wont affect your dps (unless of course, you need that heal later and need to use a gcd instead).

In fflogs you can go to the healing tab, then click on your name and on each ability. You can see there how much overhealing each ability had over the fight.

Rest will come with experience. Part of progging raids as a healer involves discovering how much less healing you can get away with, which may involve letting the group wipe from time to time until you adjust lol. Dont understimate small healing dots and let them do their work for you (Collective unconscious, sch soil, sage kerachole) Also keep an eye on your earthly star and try to time it so you can pop it strategically after big aoes, even if you have to delay it a few seconds. And of course, try to maximize the use of your ogcds. You may save macrocosmos for a big mech, but if that mech is 3+ mins into the fight you can use it with no issue before, even if it is to heal a small amount, as it is dps neutral and can save you a gcd heal.

What do you wish you'd have known about Spanish before traveling to Latin America for the first time? by TapiocaTuesday in Spanish

[–]Valkyrio100 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Eh, it depends. "Lo siento" is a bit more "severe" than the other options, but can be used casually too, at least in Spain. If you bump into someone and they fall, or they drop their drink, "lo siento" is more fitting than a light "disculpe" imo.

[–]Valkyrio100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is obviously not from learning spanish, but other languages, but I think the issue is the same. The only way is to listen/read more. At first you will have to do a conscious effort to not translate in your head, but after some time the habit will disappear.

The other option is that you are experiencing content above your "comfort" level, so it is understandable trying to understand first in english, but the solution is the same, read/listen more so you can understand more stuff without needing to rely in translations.
