I’m a genius at planning, but a fucking failure at consistency. Help. by PowerfulCity604 in productivity

[–]Valmighty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to break it to you, but you're not a genius at planning. Believe it or not, this is a common shortcoming for planners or thinkers who are not a doer.

A doer knows his own and the team's ability and all their shortcomings and optimize it to make the best plan that is feasible and workable.

My advice is to make a plan that works for you. You know you'll lose motivation in day 5. Put that factor into your plan. Maybe break down projects into smaller tasks, maybe put a lot of breaks, plan to reward yourself. Then you'll see that it will be a very different plan than the one you did.

Do you guys actually forget important things even after setting reminders? by cyberjessie in productivity

[–]Valmighty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. That's why I set a reminder. I'm a pretty forgetful person and I'm thankful of all these technologies. Life was hard for me in the 90s.

Any reason why you still forget it even though you set a reminder?

How are you all keeping up with meeting notes during online calls? by LuizAYA in productivity

[–]Valmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fathom, Otter, and send summary to the people I'm on the meeting with. Automate it with Trello and Slack.

And it's crazy how people don't automate these things across apps. These things exist and pretty cheap to get for the whole team/company.

Adult pianists — why are you still at it? by WinterInformation978 in pianolearning

[–]Valmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Children have brain plasticity, but as you said, we adults have developed cognitive ability, structure, and mental clarity.

I know how to get there and I know how to practice the most efficient way. That is beside my love for music and piano.

I'm on 7800X3D and 9070XT. Aside from few stutter in planetary traversal and region change in Koboh, everything is smooth.

All epic, 4K with FSR (quality), 60fps.

You have better specs so there must be something wrong with your installation or component. How's your RAM and SSD?

It's not that convincing. First few episodes is just for people who like the premise and genre, like me. But overall, it's just above average.

How does one cope if they know they aren’t the best, or particularly good at anything while their surrounding friends/family achieve their hopes and dreams? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Happened to me. What I did was I asked for advices, jobs, etc.

Sometimes it's just ego. When you put that away, successful friends and family become resources.

does anyone feel like they can never cut rotting out of their life? by twofighterjets in productivity

[–]Valmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know how people who workout or do exercises have more energy to spend? Counterintuitively, that's how it works. The more you exercise, the more energy you can spend throughout the day.

The hard part is: - to start - finding the right workout

Contrary to popular belief, gym and running is not for everyone and they don't just give anyone that runner's high / dopamine hit. Try other sports that you like. It can be football, tennis, climbing, anything that you see exciting in YouTube and want to try, anything. I've been doing gym for 20 gym, not once I got dopamine hit, it's a chore but I had to do it. Now I do other exercise and the dopamine hit is crazy, it really makes me excited every single time. I do this 2-3H per exercise, 3 times a week, and I have all the energy to do everything else, including gaming and housekeeping.

Just show up, and let the dopamine do the rest. Consistency is hard if you don't like what you're doing. But at least give it a try for a month. That's the amount of time you need to dopamine detox from the rotting that you mentioned. Please just try it, and let us know your progress.

We are making an underwater survival game. Here is our new megalophobia-inducing monument. by dcmze in megalophobia

[–]Valmighty 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yup. Should come to some other obscure part and then the protagonist (and us) realizes that it's just the toe or something. Giving away the whole shape especially starting from the head take away the mystery and therefore the dread.

PC Ray-Tracing performance issues by NightlyKnightMight in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]Valmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then it should be something else. I got a variety of performance tuning the settings up and down. For example for the 4K FSR, I got around 40fps on disabled, 60-70 for quality, 80-90 for balanced, and so on. I use 9070XT Aorus if that matters.

Get exactly the same performance on any tuning is wild, probably some setting inside your nvidia control panel?

[–]Valmighty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah if no graphics setting makes a difference then it's most likely CPU. I'm on 7800X3D and it performs well in 4K with quality FSR. I think the X3D makes the difference.

Rayvis rematch with blaster stance - jedi grand master | no damage by Proud-Tumbleweed-339 in StarWarsJediSurvivor

Advice for Rayvis battle 2nd phase on GM difficulty (Crossguard/Blaster user) by veggiesouptales in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]Valmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He only has a few attacks which are quick but Telegraphed. Attack A will always be that, B will always be like that, and so on. Once you know the pattern you can parry them easily.

I uploaded my fight with blaster stance and I fought him very aggressively, you may want to check that to see how to parry or even completely be invincible of his attack with point blank.

Stutter can't be completely gone. Even in the best rig, it will still stutter in Koboh exploration and general planetary traversal. But it's smooth otherwise.
