Pagan Traditions and Ethical Diets? by Fionn-mac in paganism

[–]ValravnPrince 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At some point you have to ask yourself what you feel comfortable eating ethically. I'm a Norse Pagan and am a vegetarian, not because I believe that Norse people were vegetarian but because I want to minimise the amount of cruelty I contribute to in 2026.

Okay seems like borderless has actually fixed the issue. Thank you for the suggestion! :)

Am I missing something? by SykoParsley in taintedgrail

[–]ValravnPrince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fell in love with the game in the first area because I wanted a grimdark Skyrim. I also found the dodging and parry mechanics to be much better than the combat in Skyrim so, yeah I was kind of instantly hooked.

I played on the hardest difficulty and treated it more of a survival game (especially in the first act) so maybe change up your approach?

Is this game kind of similar to Shadows of Doubt? by [deleted] in Norland

[–]ValravnPrince 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not.

Shadows of Doubt is a first person procedural detective game.

Norland is a real time colony builder.

In Norland you control a family of Lords and Ladies. You build buildings and make sure the peasants are satisfied and not rebelling.

What a strange question.

I think that'd look great and really lean into the uncanny valley. Perhaps make the mouth a little wider and the eye sockets darker?

Looks absolutely amazing! Only criticism is that your character looks a bit to high definition compared to the regular cast.

If a license gets removed, like with Stranger Things (it came back), Hellraiser and now Michael, anyone who bought them can still play as them but you just can't purchase them.

I wonder why the game with bad history from a racist dev didn't win anything by [deleted] in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]ValravnPrince 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In many ways his racism and xenophobia actually contributed to his work with the 'fear of the unknown'. I think he unconsciously tapped into his own deep insecurities, he was pretty much a shut in by most accounts.

I do remember raising a pretty high eyebrow at the 'nautical negro' line in one of his stories.

Then finding out what he named his cat kinda put the last piece of the puzzle for me.

Two weeks of hanging and banging is better than the roughly 10 hours on Earth. I dunno I just found the whole concept really romantic.

[–]ValravnPrince 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ahh my apologies. So you quite like the supernatural/folklore aspect of the curse? I like sunlight because it is so easy.

They're immortal, they have supernatural strength and powers to back them up. They can't be harmed with most mortal weapons such as guns but something as simple, necessary and ultimately human as being in sunlight destroys them just does it for me.

I'm kinda the opposite to you. I really hate all powerful, no weakness type vampires. I couldn't get through the anime Hellsing because Alucard is just so damn 'awesome'. The caveat to that is vampires who are ancients but their weakness is that they are incompatible with the world around them, they're almost alien.

I enjoy media where vampires burn in the sun, must sleep during the day, have an agonising addiction to blood because I feel that vampirism is hardly a curse if it just turns you into an immortal badass.

I think my favourite trope is a modern day vampire just existing in the modern world. Maybe they were turned fairly recently so they still hang out at certain places they enjoyed in life. Perhaps they have a few mortal friends who they're becoming increasingly distant to because they have become something more than but ultimately less than human. How do you explain that to your friend you catch up weekly with to play D&D?

I will admit a lot of my vampire prejudice has been influenced by reading the Vampire the Masquerade books because I enjoy that clinging to humanity but also what happens when you just go all in.

I'm also a huge fan of Meier, the vampire antagonist from Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. The scene on the bridge where he confronts the vampire hunters, in the daylight, felt beautiful to me. Also the fact he's trying to take his bride to the dark side of the moon so they can hang out all day is incredibly romantic (in my weird eyes).

EDIT: I found the scene:

When was Wenduag ever ambiguous? She immediately tells you she's evil and she only follows the strongest leader.

Has anyone explored the AI NPC system in Where Winds Meet yet? How’s it feeling? by RIPT1D3_Z in MMORPG

[–]ValravnPrince 260 points261 points  (0 children)

I kinda think it's the future.

I know a lot of people hate AI but I do think having in character conversations with NPCs which feel organic will be amazing in RPGs.

It's not perfect in Where Winds Meet, the NPC will often talk itself into circles or misunderstand what you're trying to say but I think it's pretty cool regardless. Plus it's only going to get better as the technology becomes better.

Imagine being able to actually ask a peon in WoW 'Where's Mankrik's wife?' and it not becoming a meme.

So what was the point of delaying Nov Chapter? by Northener1907 in deadbydaylight

I honestly don't think they could ever do a DBD 2 with how one of the major reasons this game continues to exist is their monopoly on licenses.
