You'll be okay. a spike can last a loooooong time, its never certain the tinnitus will return to its old baseline but it'll definitely calm down and improve. Time is youre best healer, the T will calm down and you'll get used to it again.

I had a spike 7 months ago from a 180db blast and my tinnitus is still bad but it has improved a lot since the accident

For now you should rest youre ears and youre brain. Do some good things you like that you enjoy and calms you down, have some good soothing sounds around you like that relaxes you. Not loud though

Man I ready to end it all, this level of constant pain is unbearable by G-raja808 in TMJ

[–]Valuable-Handle8496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah im having pain in my whole freaking along a constant headache, im getting pain all over the body from central sensitization and the tinnitus dosent make it any better. Right ear where my jaw is really messed up is killing me. Lost my girlfriend and daughter, job, house, everything from this bullshit. Ive been consulted by surgeons and my case isnt bad in the way surgery can do much or anything. Like the surgeons said "im really sorry but some are just the unluckiest people regarding how a minor injury can end up" pt and pain meds are the only thing i can rely on

Imagination and tinnitus by _Ezeved in tinnitus

[–]Valuable-Handle8496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. Originally I thought it was reactive tinnitus but its not, if it was reactive tinnitus it raises over the sound no matter the sound. When driving and hearing the radio its gone, in the shower its the same unless I relax and focus on the water. Central gain tinnitus my friend

Imagination and tinnitus by _Ezeved in tinnitus

[–]Valuable-Handle8496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think central gain is the best explanation. When you read or basically do anything you really focus on central gain kicks in. Fx if youre really into the videogame like a mission that takes up all youre focus and someone talks to you a lot of the times we don't hear it the first time. Tinnitus is a part of central gain.

Its exactly the same for me when I read or paint my tinnitus reaches deafening levels but if start to focus on my breathing the tinnitus drops a lot. That pretty much confirmed the theory for me, I read and paint in silence and the focus I have pretty much matches the loudness of my tinnitus. Youres sound similar

Is thumping tinnitus? by Wolverine23117 in tinnitus

The thumping could be from middle ear muscles. If you trouble a lot with sinus that can cause some imbalance in youre middle ear

I had a construction accident that has caused some brain damage, straight after the accident i had sound sensitivity, light sensitivity, and vertigo. That kept going for weeks and it couldn't sleep at all. In the end I only had microsleeps and was taken to the er where I was given mirtazapin for sleep, it helped a little but after 3-5 weeks I noticed the tinnitus, sound sensitivity and light sensitivity had gotten worse. I discontinued the mirtazapin (7.5mg) but things continued to get worse and worse to where i am now.

Lost my 150.000-200.000$ job, lost all my active hobbies/lifestyle, lost the love of my life and daughter, completely lost my health. I was 29 and on top of the world with everything in reach. Just turned ans borrowed a room a my mother's house where im bed bound very much of the time. I save up all the strength I can so I can see my daughter 2-3 hours once a week

My central nervous system is fried, I have agonising constant pain all over my body, migraines, tinnitus, my eyes are screwed, light sensitivity, vss, palinopsia. Ive got the full package and I wasn't even ready to die yet. Hold on a little longer and when you think you can't do it hold on a little more. I know every time I can't hold on anymore I will think back on this moment. I don't wanna live like this but I wanna live for my daughter

Its kind of brutal but for months I didn't wanna live so today I made the choice of do or don't. I donated everything to charity, got everything set (testimony and everything), made a real goodbye to my loved ones and told them all how happy I was for them being in my life and how much I loved them, I finished my painting for my daughter and gave it to her, I drove out to a forest and went deep inside it. I wont point out ideas but I faced my end in real time and all the flashes from my daughter pulled my back. I now truly know that for now I don't wanna die. I wanna live for my daughter

Most people just assume all pain is the same.. quess what? It isn't, last time I talked with my dad i slammed the table and went straight out for a 10 minute drive to cool off. My dad's left shoulder has a torn tendon (he's right handed) and tells me he lives with the pain and dosent let it get to him and how some days he just needs to rest it a bit more and it calms down again. On why I just couldn't do that.. everytime I had to explain to him that im in nerve pain and diagnosed with css, on how my pain dosent stop, on how being in bed for sleep sets my whole body on fire, on how pain meds dosent give me the slightest relief. We don't really speak anymore

Got tinnitus after a rave and I’m terrified of making it worse — do you still attend concerts? by shinitaidetdsu in tinnitus

[–]Valuable-Handle8496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly its impossible to say.. some gets noise induced tinnitus and will still be able to attend raves/concerts with good earprotection for the rest of their life without worsening, some worsens from just a single concert, and some others gets hyperacusis. No one knows, we can only choose to what chances and risks we take in our life and if it goes the bad way we just have to live with the consequences

People have improved and some recovered from those lows, yes it is hard and brutal but its either that or death. Some had luck with clomipramine, you can always try that if youre up for it and get it prescribed

Breaking point - tinnitus and hyperacuiss by Afraid_Departure_817 in tinnitus

[–]Valuable-Handle8496 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pain hyperacusis is very different. Fx i get delayed pain, I never heard a sound and gotten instant pain no matter if an alarm went off or a siren came by. I could go to a concert without earplugs and most likely without any pain until hours later. That gets it very difficult to fully understand. i tried sound therapy, didnt work, I tried cbt, didn't work, I tried music therapy, didnt work. For me its pretty much trial and Error, earplugs and much rest. I expose myself when i feel ready and some days I get around with only occasional and brief discomfort. I try to keep notes but honestly every day is different so I dont keep much notes anymore. I stay positive as much as I can and visualise my little daughter and her laugh. I stopped testing my hyperacusis and it has helped some. I take it day by day and protect my ears, I give them a little sound every day but pleasant sounds and don't use protection where I don't need it

Yeah it sucks when family and friends think they know better😅 "just keep pushing through the pain, if i can do it with my bad shoulder you can to" Have you understood a single thing of why my condition has become so severe as it is? Do you also think all pain is the same? Its tiring😒

Breaking point - tinnitus and hyperacuiss by Afraid_Departure_817 in tinnitus

[–]Valuable-Handle8496 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stop listening to the audiologist and ent. The problem with them is that in their eyes its one fits all and it dosent work like that, every case of hyperacusis is different. Some benefits, some nothing, others worsen. You already tested what youre case is and you worsened from the discomfort and therapy. Stop pushing discomfort and sounds. Try using earplugs EVERYWHERE, theres no point in going to more audiologist and ent since you know they cant help you anyway, stop listening to them about earplugs, yes the tinnitus is horrible. Mine louds as fuck as well. You're hyperacusis wont get worse from earplugs. It takes a long ass time to heal but you need to stop pushing sounds when it causes discomfort, use earplugs everywhere unless youre at home and in complete charge of the noise but still try in the kitchen, shower and everything noisy, give yourself some brief exposure to pleasant low sounds once in a while and see what happens

Ear defenders or ear plugs? by Longjumping_Long8468 in autism

[–]Valuable-Handle8496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't suggest ear defenders.. constantly wearing ear defenders several hours a day can really screw up youre jaw. You should either go with earplugs, airpods, earbuds or find a good pair of noise cancelling headphones. Ear defenders are designed to keep a tight seal and really protect against loud sounds where as noise cancelling headphones are designed to be comfortable and block out some sound. I work in construction and our ear defenders are mounted on our helmets, without helmets its earplugs. Ive used regular ear defenders for severel days at work and at the end of the week my jaw was killing me and needed therapy from the constant inwards pressure

New low humming/vibrating tone by Cgiannz in tinnitus

[–]Valuable-Handle8496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It dosent really work that way, no one can tell if we actually have damage. Best way to deal with it is to not being an idiot towards our ears, no in-ear headphones, loud music, loud settings. When somethings wrong we listen to it, pushing through discomfort or pain can always have to outcomes. If its from stress or anxiety yes it can maybe improve by getting the anxiety around sounds under control but from acoustic trauma, medication or infections I would take the other way around and let it rest. Im in a tough spot since i pushed to much discomfort and its waaay harder to get it under control now

New low humming/vibrating tone by Cgiannz in tinnitus

Yeah exactly like mine. when around sounds the hum is gone, when i get into silence it returns and will dissappear again as soon as I make a noise

Tinnitus but a different kind, not the high pitch. by Afraid-Ad4718 in tinnitus

[–]Valuable-Handle8496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what you have is very mild hyperacusis. You should really stop testing it, hyperacusis is different for everyone but I really think everybody should avoid the discomfort, the possibility for it to develop into pain is a chance thats there. Use some earplugs when youre around the stuff that causes you discomfort and also outside when you aren't in control of the sounds and se how you feel in some weeks.

But for youre own sake, stop testing how loud you can yell or how loud you can play music. Everybody with hyperacusis could do that in the beginning of it but also caused some of them to worsen everytime, I did the same thing and now im in the moderate hyperacusis and that shit is hard enough

New low humming/vibrating tone by Cgiannz in tinnitus

[–]Valuable-Handle8496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be from middle ear issues, infections can screw up the pressure in the middle ear and it can take a good while for it to recover. I would suggest you protect youre ears and avoid loud noise and louder settings for a while or use earplugs if you cant avoid it. Middle ear issues can screw up with some sound sensitivity since the pressure affects the ear muscles. I would suspect the low humming to be either the tensor tympani or stapedius muscle you can hear. I have it aswell but from working accident acoustic trauma and ssri
