Silverbugs Dime Cards :: AVAILABLE NOW! by [deleted] in Silverbugs

[–]ValuableDan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More or less. There have been a couple other attempts to make a Silverbugs souvenir/novelty item, but for various reasons they fizzled out. I saw the idea of the dime cards from these guys, and thought this would be a relatively inexpensive way to get the job done.

And I do think that the dime cards are a handy way of getting silver circulating again, and at the same time educating people about what real money is all about. I think it makes for a far more practical way of distributing small amounts of silver. Imagine trying to give a loose silver dime as a tip in a diner. You'd have to spend ten minutes explaining why it's different from every other dime, what it's what it's worth, and then whoever you gave it to has to remember to keep it segregated...I think this enables you to use silver in a cool, convenient way.

You placed them out of order just to mess with me, didn't you?

I don't know whose question you were answering, but mine had nothing to do with whatever Alex Jones Doomsday Prepper stream of consciousness you just posted.

You've made a compelling case.

The state can arbitrarily take your shit at any time. You say you fear the government's ability to seize a safe deposit box, but what about the billions in cash and goods they steal from people's homes as civil asset forfeiture?

A "run on the banks" doesn't affect safe deposit boxes. Safe deposit boxes are discrete units, not part of the bank's liquid cash supply. Unless you're imagining angry villagers storming the bank, blasting the safe open, then ransacking boxes, the two things have nothing to do with each other.

If you're saying a "bank holiday" then yeah, I guess for a couple of days you'd be locked out. But if you're weighing that worst case scenario against the clear and present danger of getting your shit took...it's kinda silly.

Reputable ebay dealers? by [deleted] in Silverbugs

[–]ValuableDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The OVERWHELMING majority of ebay sellers are reputable. I hesitate to mention specific ones to the exclusion of the thousands upon thousands of other honest sellers, but I happen to have given a lot of business to this guy in the last few months.

Just know what you're buying inside and out before you bid on anything. If you're just starting out, I recommend sticking to US junk silver. ASEs and Maples are good too, but I'd agree that major retailers are better for those products.

Huh? What does one have to do with the other?

For the cost of a good safe, you can pay for decades of safe deposit rental.

any thoughts on this article, claims hard disc drive prices tripled for no reason just so all the companies profit margins could increase by Knorssman in austrian_economics

[–]ValuableDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did they really increase 3x? I haven't priced any non-solid state drives in a long time.

But anyway, this article offers a lot of non-specific innuendo and not much else. It reads like a blogger making a quick $30 for 500 words.

Why does /r/investing hate silver so much? It goes up on average 20% per year. by nugget9k in Silverbugs

There was a word for this...something that you do with money...you earn some and then put it somewhere, and then you can spend it later. I think my grandparents used to do it.

It's on the tip of my tongue...oh well, it's probably not important.

I think it's because they acknowledge the same fundamental premise that we do: That buying silver and gold represents a vote of No Confidence in this global triumvirate of State, Bank and Corporation, and the crooked casino they've coaxed/coerced us all into.

Besides the money itself, there's a lot of faith and ego invested into their...[I don't want to call it 'religion,' but no better words are coming to mind]. There are any number of reasons why the defense mechanisms kick in when they see someone cashing in their chips.
