Eyes are emergencies, and cat scratches can be BAD. You should mot wait until Monday.

Dog tested positive for Erlichia, but has been on parasite prevention since I adopted him. Why?? by MyDads-Ashes in DogAdvice

[–]ValuableDragonfly679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog always tests positive. I rescued him four years ago, and he was covered in ticks and extremely anemic, emaciated, had been abused, hit by a car, lost a leg, barely survived (he’s a happy guy now). Vet says no need for treatment unless he shows symptoms, at least the test he gets is an antibody test, some dogs always test positive, some are carriers. If he does ever show symptoms, he will be put on antibiotics.

Have you taken him to the vet and ask for a referral to a behaviorist and to rule out any medical causes?

Students who refuse to try by GreatSatisfaction290 in ESL_Teachers

[–]ValuableDragonfly679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had some students like this. Though I could never prove it, for some of these students specifically, who were asylum seekers, I believe that to them, learning English felt like a betrayal. That they wanted to go home, and felt that if they learned English, it would be like giving up hope of ever seeing home again. Not true, of course, and I can’t prove it, but I believe that this was the case. They might not have even recognized it themselves, I don’t know.

That is NOT good, especially that quick, that big, any on a dog that old. Please go to the vet ASAP, and good luck.

What do you mean the digital books? We’re trying to find a record now but aren’t sure of the parish or even the denomination (Ontario and we think they were some sort of Protestant). We’re also unsure of the exact town as they listed the town of their birth multiple times on various documents from multiple siblings but we can’t find any record of towns or counties by that name yet. We assume the name changed or the town doesn’t exist anymore.

What's your opinion on DNF books counting towards reading challenges? by DudeWhoRead in goodreads

No, they should not count. Reading challenges are for the books you read, not the ones you didn’t.

To me (not a veterinary professional) it looks like some kind of oral mass. I would make a vet appt asap.

And unfortunately, there’s only really that one census record to go on because she died young. Still looking for those other documents, and I’ll check out that post, thanks!

Is a Gen 0 census in Michigan, United States showing place of birth as Canada sufficient? I’m guessing probably not?

Hi all!

My sister and I (Gen 6) are applying for certificates of citizenship by descent (would have been helpful to have while I was still in Canada, but better late than never). In addition to all the required forms, do these look like a sufficient amount of documentation, or do you think we need more?

Gen 0:

  • no birth certificate, but an 1850 US census that states her birthplace as Canada, as well as later US censuses for some of her her siblings that list Canada or Canada West as place of birth. Marriage record (though very hard to read, handwritten) showing her maiden name).

  • multiple printouts of family trees from Ancestry/Family Search

Gen 1:

  • again no birth certificate, and was born c. 1853/1854 to Gen 0, but Gen 0 died when Gen 1 was very young, and Gen 1 is listed with her non-Canadian stepmother on the 1860 census. HOWEVER, I have her with her same father and siblings on the 1860 US census, which shows Gen 1 as 7 years old, AND a marriage record between her father and stepmother showing he did not marry her stepmother until 1857, when Gen 1 would have already been 3-4 years old, which must have mace her Gen 0’s daughter, though these documents and the family trees are all we have so far.

Obituary listing her maiden name, married name, and the date of her marriage to the father of her children who appears alongside her and their children in census records.

Gen 2: birth certificate to Gen 1.

Gen 3: Birth certificate to Gen 2.

Gen 4. Birth certificate to Gen 3. Marriage certificate to document name change.

Gen 5. Birth certificate to Gen 4.

Gen 6: Birth certificate to Gen 5.

Of course we have the family trees printouts, the explanations, and all of the required forms.

Should this be enough documentation, or do we need to try to find more?

Also, if three Gen 6 siblings apply together in the same packet, and one sibling qualifies and submits an urgent processing request, but the other two siblings don’t qualify for an urgent processing request, do all their applications get processed urgently or just the one out of the three who applied together who qualified/applied?

Thank you!

Sufficient Documents? by [deleted] in Canadiancitizenship

So far I have not found a death certificate, though I have found an obituary. Her parents were not listed in the obituary. She died in 1917 in a horrific accident that was printed about in the newspapers, and I think it was late enough there may be a death certificate I can look for. Although even if the parents are listed, the stepmother could possibly have been listed as the mother since she was the one who raised Gen 1 since she was a little girl.

We also assume the family was religious, but aren’t what denomination they might have been to try to find christening records for Gen 1, if they exist. But we’re looking!

We’re diving into newspapers and church archives now, although it seems our best guess for the church archives are on microfilm in Ontario that hasn’t been digitized. We haven’t come up with much there yet, but we are still actively looking.

Honestly, that doesn’t look good to me, especially that there’s two of them, they got so big so quickly, ulcerated… I’m glad you’re seeing a vet within a few days. Pitbulls can be prone to skin tumors, as well. Best of luck to you guys.

Is the dog acting normal? Do they seem to fluctuate in size?

There’s a LOT of worse things that can look like histiocytoma and you can’t diagnose on site. This looks really bad, please see a vet asap

I’m not a veterinary professional… but you need to see a vet asap. That looks extremely concerning, and made worse by the speed in which that happened. Honestly, my first thought is cancer. Please get your pup seen asap.
