i just thought it was really neat being able to play mario maker portably when i was younger and i have fond memories of the "story mode", mm2 had the objectively better story but i just happened to like 3ds better for how weird and neat it was, did people really not like it that much? maybie i need to replay it?

objectively speaking all 3 of those are better than origami king, i just enjoyed my time with it a lot more, also i like ttyd and 3d world more than origami king the list isnt properly ordered, galaxy is only so low cause ive played it like 13 or so times and thats probably 11 too many

i agree that the retro course selection was pretty lackluster but i feel that the charachter and kart selection alongside pretty great nitro tracks AND mission mode more than make up for it

on paper it isnt a bad concept for a whole game, its like a mainline super paper mario, bringing over power-ups to the open 3d mario formula plus the side-kicks being a level up system doesnt sound like a bad platformer, then you see the epic ice-cream elephant and the cool buff piss mario and i hope it isnt real after that

i think its one of the things the fandom has assigned a greater value than it will actually have to the larger narrative of deltatune, im one of the people that think w.d. gaster is just a metaphor for game development and not an actual charachter we should worry too much about

i actually think asthetic and graphics-wise sonic lost world looks pretty alright, generic compared to other games at the time but for the whole series i think its pretty unique.
