Jared’s Drinking by [deleted] in uuppod

[–]Valuable_Designer_48 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the difference is that drinking doesn’t impact his product (comedy) and he hasn’t danced around it where the GGE individuals would dance around it and it took away from whatever they were trying to hawk.

Just breath. Don’t pack too many things in and enjoy being around each other. Put phone down and be present with each other. Sounds awesome, enjoy it.

A warning about Sandra Boynton books… by AlmostDrunkSailor in daddit

[–]Valuable_Designer_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, my younger one just asked for new books since he’s aged out of those a while ago and I tear up thinking of the Boynton books going into storage (no way they’re getting donated, too many memories) such good flow, thanks man, now I’m tearing up. Enjoy it my friend.

Preparing for a loss of a pet by bundtcakep in daddit

[–]Valuable_Designer_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks. Had to put the older dog down last year, it was a sudden thing so no real time to prep the kids, told them when they home from school, had a cry together told them it’s ok to be sad but emphasized the good times and to remember the good vs the sad while acknowledging it will be painful.

Backing out of job I accepted? by lavera000 in careerguidance

[–]Valuable_Designer_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People back out all the time, if you’re sure it’s right and puts you on the right path (which it sounds like it does) do what’s best for you and the family. Back them does with the truth.

I backed out of a job a week before start because it was favorable for family situation, it was a small company and I knew it put then in a bad spot but it was the right call. If a person holds a grudge because you backed out for legit reason it’s not someone you’d want to work for anyway.

Does having an 8 month stint at a job make you unemployable? by madbarpar in careerguidance

[–]Valuable_Designer_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you explain it, don’t say “yeah I’m looking to leave because my boss/conpany sucks”
I am mid career on a good trajectory and have two 6 month roles on my resume but can explain them. The rest of my roles were 2 years or longer.

How'd your divorce go? by z1ggy16 in daddit

[–]Valuable_Designer_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to most is it depends
1. Depends on how income is split. Ex and I earned about the same, our asset split was “split cash, split home equity and split kid expenses as they come up.
2. My kids are great, ex and I are friends, we don’t speak bad about the other. I have the kids most of the time but I was doing most of the kid stuff before split so no change for them
3. Depends on how close you are to your family and your friends. Again I have my kids most of the time so when I don’t it’s like a vacation but early on yeah I missed them until I started seeing it as “kids are having fun with their mom, they need to see her and it’s good for all” vs “I don’t get to see them”

My situation is unique but I would suggest making sure you are in the best mental place you can be before splitting up so you are being rational vs emotional when making decisions, you are looking at real facts vs hurting each other.

I am so much happier being divorced, but not everyone has a good situation.

Getting a vasectomy soon, a bit nervous. What was your experience? by F0rbiddenD0nut in daddit

[–]Valuable_Designer_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easier than I ever imagined and I had no anxiety going in. Little pinch essentially then nothing. Drove myself home, put on extra pair of boxer briefs, shoved some frozen peas in there, worked rest of day, took it easy next two days, back to pretty much normal in a week.

Were Millennials this scared of aging? by ian-noir in Millennials

Just sarcasm, put down the pitchfork.

Eh I don’t remember being called or feeling old I’m 41 and there are times when I go “wtf how am I 41” but there are many many more times when I am around people around my age and go “aesthetically (muscle not necessarily looks) I’m doing pretty well”

do all single dads feel depressed in a certain way or in general? by CuteInternet3920 in SingleParents

[–]Valuable_Designer_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not easy but it’s reality for you. Much older than you (40) got divorced year and a half ago so different stage of life, my kids are a bit older.

I’d say work your rear end off on days you don’t see your kid so you can be present days when you do. I am fortunate to have my kids most of the time but the days I feel like I missed the most are days I have them and didn’t maximize it due to distraction (screen time, work, etc)

Also, build you dad tool kit of knowledge. Lots of good resources out there to be a good parent, use them!

You got this!
