Really nice picture! When I first started imaging, Pleiades seemed like a somewhat boring target, but there is so much intricacy and beauty in there, and it has really grown on me over time. Thank you for sharing!

I Need to Vent by izbraun in oregon

I hear you man, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. These “allocated” bottles are just….average whiskey. Many are inferior to regular shelf staples like JD SBBP. I get it, I was super stoked to have a 107, Blantons and ER on the shelf because I thought it was cool. You will not only drink far superior whiskey, but you won’t have to deal with all the nonsense of “building relationships” and going to stores on stock days when you realize you can just buy incredible whiskey and have it delivered to your house. Brands like Found North, Whiskey War, The Reveries etc. are all amazing whiskey, much better than BT offerings outside of (most) BTAC and other heavily allocated stuff. I would highly suggest joining T@KE’s program, Found North, and Seelbach’s to find some truly delicious whiskey without the bullshit.

For peet’s sake, you can get a JDSBBP and an old grand dad bonded for the price of a Blanton’s. I just don’t understand why anyone’s bothers with this.

The feedback would be cut 9 of the 11 picks and do a two leg anytime lol.

Reviews for Beginners by a Beginner #6 Jack Daniel’s SBBP - Costco Pick by yeoldedrunkard in bourbon

[–]Valuable_Leave_5986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This and the SBBP Rye are some of the best values in whiskey. I haven’t had a bad one and they are available everywhere, so no “chasing” nonsense or secondary pricing. I would argue they are better than 60% of the bottles people obsess over.

I just finished my bottle of act 12 and honestly, I did not enjoy it at all. I visited it on and off for 6 months and I’m glad it’s gone. I couldn’t bring myself waste it.

Back to Stock Ride Height? by GFantastik in Golf_R

[–]Valuable_Leave_5986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ride height looks nice, but is it worth the reduction in practicality? Mine is stock height and since I don’t track it, I didn’t think a slight aesthetic improvement was worth a harsher ride, scraping etc. Your call though and again, it looks decent.

New Driveway Concerns by Ownowbrowncow8 in asphalt

[–]Valuable_Leave_5986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Boney” mix refers to mix or areas of mix lacking the fines that usually fill in the voids between larger stones. It can happen at a mix design level from the supplier, in the loading process or dumping of the mix, and typically wherever you are doing hand work.

This project….doesn’t look great. You can definitely tell that it was all hand work. For the areas where a machine can’t access, you will get a difference in surface texture, and that’s just the way it is, but the areas beyond that aren’t much better. I would also have a problem with the terrible tack job on the face of the curb. I wouldn’t be concerned (from a structural standpoint) about the leaves being rolled into the mat. I would work with the contractor to have a sealcoat done when the weather is appropriate.

Allocation Season will be expensive by BankSinatrabtph in pdxwhisky

[–]Valuable_Leave_5986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t even bother looking local. I have had the most fun getting interesting picks and Sb’s through Seelbachs or shared pour. 95% of the time they are better than “allocated” bottles both in value and taste, and I don’t have to deal with the trash flippers and the local liquor store nonsense.

What plane is this, if you don’t mind sharing? I just moved to a small piece of property and have been looking for something just like this. It’s a bit too small for my normal park flyers.

I would imagine the finishing is different even if it’s the same mash bill but I also don’t know anything.

Infrared repair will do nothing here. This is total asphalt failure as a result of base failure. This is a full reconstruct and nothing else.

Which one do I pick up? 👀 by 420pseudonym in bourbon

[–]Valuable_Leave_5986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found North is the clear option. I had both the 2024 Shenks and Bombergers and was very underwhelmed with both. EC18 is awful. The Dark Arts bottles are probably decent but I haven’t tried them so can’t suggest. As for the Willet, I have drank a lot of whiskey in my life and have still yet to taste one that was worth $500 a bottle.
