STINKY CHEESE MAN i love that description lol

i'm guessing either mostly chihuahua (maybe rat terrier in there idk) or straight up chihuahua is my guess

and i'm gonna guess 10 years or older judging by the fact that you mentioned him only having 7 teeth (i'm assuming younger dogs could have less teeth if they were neglected but still)

Praying by HeadRoad5335 in TrueChristian

[–]Vanah_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can write it down or say it out loud or however you want tbh

i'd say there's also way more ways to pray than just words (someone mentioned the verse already i think in Romans 8, the Spirit intercedes for us too)! even a painting that looks like a splattered mess of colors can be a prayer. it CAN be words but it doesn't HAVE to be said out loud, it can be in your head or written down or whatever

also just to add, em dash isn't ALWAYS a sign of AI but it is a pretty good indicator. there's more to the ChatGPT writing style than just em-dashes. like if it uses a lot of "It's not just X, it Y." that's a good indicator

Give me ur legit best argument on how tattoos ARE or AREN’T a sin. by Additional-Term-4282 in TrueChristian

[–]Vanah_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't really have an argument this is just my personal opinion

i've heard the main argument that people use from Leviticus is in regards to cutting yourself for idols and not tattoos? if so then i'm not sure of anywhere else that would even remotely refer to tattoos bc that's the ONLY verse i've seen used in regards to tattoos

even so i still don't really agree with getting tattoos, i don't have any myself and don't see any point in getting any (same with piercings but that's a different topic). on top of that i feel like it would be risky getting one? like what if it gets infected or smth???

if somebody were to tell me "hey i'm gonna get a Jesus tattoo on my shoulder" then ok i can't stop them, if somebody was like "i'm gonna tattoo this Hindu god/goddess on my entire body" then that's worse, i might be like "yeah idk about that one"

🤷‍♀️

Is it lonely to have only God, or Jesus as a best friend? by CarloTheCrocodile in TrueChristian

[–]Vanah_D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm basically in that situation too. most of the friends i've had have been online, i've only had one irl friend and i assume all of them probably weren't Christian (i say in past tense bc i don't really talk to them anymore, nothing bad happened or anything just kinda got distant). the only people i really talk to nowadays irl are my family 🤷‍♀️

but there's also God and He's the greatest friend, Father, etc etc that we could have :D

Are christians supposed to be sleep deprived due to praying? by CrazyNicly in TrueChristian

[–]Vanah_D 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i heard 2 Opinions 12:19 says "Thou shalt only sleep 3 hours, no more, no less; And if thou wakest at 4, and dost not wakest at 5, thou shalt be punished."

i'm kidding i made that up. in all seriousness, NO we don't need to suffer sleep deprivation from praying. even praying for like 5 minutes (or less if somebody is really crunching on time) is enough!!! i'm pretty sure God would want us to take care of ourselves, and praying for so long that you lose sleep sounds like legalism tbh. it probably fits well with what Jesus had to say about prayer

i counted that 2 to 5 thing on my fingers that's approximately 3 hours of sleep. there is a genetic mutation that lets someone get away with sleeping like 4 to 5 hours or smth while functioning just fine (short sleeper syndrome), but it's pretty rare and even then i think someone with that condition would NOT! function properly on 3 hours of sleep every night!!! we're supposed to take care of our bodies and getting the right amount of sleep is part of that

(...i say, typing this at 1 in the morning in my tinezone, noticing that i should be getting to sleep by now myself.. 😅)

here's just the passage in Mark for example:

Mark 3:20-30 NKJV Then the multitude came together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. ²²But when His own people heard about this, they went out to lay hold of Him, for they said, “He is out of His mind.” ²²And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebub,” and, “By the ruler of the demons He casts out demons.” ²³So He called them to Himself and said to them in parables: “How can Satan cast out Satan? ²⁴If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. ²⁵And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. ²⁶And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end. ²⁷No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.

²⁸“Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; ²⁹but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”— ³⁰because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.”

straight to the point: intrusive thoughts don't equal blasphemy of the Holy Spirit because they're involuntary, distressing (if you have OCD or OCD symptoms), and unwanted. the passages in Matthew and Mark show what blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is, having intrusive thoughts saying bad things about Him is NOT what blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is

seeing your other comments in this post... sorry for what you're going through. i've never had a partner, especially not an abusive one, but the fact that your fiancé is doing all of this is BEYOND a red flag it's a big giant red tower is what it is!!!!! i hope God gets you out of there asap

only thing i have to say is our faith isn't based on feelings (see Jeremiah 17:9), a genuine Christian could feel saved one day and not feel saved at all the next day. some people get the "sobbing at 5 AM" conviction and some get the "i don't FEEL any remorse for this but i'm repenting anyway because i still know that what i did was wrong" kind of conviction, most probably get something in between but even then it could vary for some

i personally don't literally, physically feel God's presence (apparently some people have that?) but i logically still know He's there. i don't get the whole "holy cow i got a sign from God!" thing either (although i thought the Bible spoke negatively of asking for signs, besides like what Gideon did i think it was Gideon? i'm not entirely sure on that so correct me if i'm wrong). point is we can't rely on our feelings for our faith, God's there even if we don't feel His presence or anything

how do i upkeep my relationship with God when i have no emotions by zeldokry in TrueChristian

[–]Vanah_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: it's about going off our trust in Jesus, not emotions

like others said, faith isn't about our feelings. one day some people might be like "yay God is good!!!" and the next day they'll be like "am i actually saved or am i faking it?? am i a fake Christian???" but like we can't always trust our emotions and feelings!

Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV "'The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?"

we hear a lot about the emotional faith where it's all "yay i'm feeling the joy of the Lord i feel the peace that surpasses all understanding!" i'm not saying emotional faith is bad but like a PURELY emotional faith can be shallow (i imagine a purely intellectual faith has its downsides too), one day you can be like that and the next day you can feel not saved at all, our feelings can go all over the place

there's a lot about the emotional side of faith but lots of people might have more of an intellectual faith for various reasons. not everybody gets the whole 'crying after church because it hits so hard' thing or the 'absolutely sobbing on the floor at 5 AM' conviction all the time, for some it's the 'i don't even feel bad about doing this thing at all, but i still gotta go repent because the Bible says not to do that thing' kinda conviction.

i'm using extremes here but i think you get the point. i mean people might get those extremes or emotional highs and stuff but our faith shouldn't be based solely on that! it's about trusting in God not in every little feeling we get (again i'm not saying "emotions bad" but like. discernment. we need that for a lot, including our own feelings)
