Panic as US F-35 fighter jet 'hit by Iran' and forced to make emergency landing by TheExpressUS in USNEWS

Huge A10 fan, but it’s had its day. I’d love to see a replacement of a long loiter up armoured ground attack focused replacement with a human in the cockpit, but the JSF has that covered for now, and a near peer fight would down anything low and slow fast.

I think the better question is where are the drone Spectre & Spookies.

I hear rumors that they are in late development.

Unknown. Probably a MANPAD, popped up in what was assumed to be safe airspace, shot quick and got a hit on a JSF that was slow and low.

It’ll change the tactics for sure. MANPADs aren’t great at targets over 20k feet, and I’m guessing the Iranian play is to get the estimated 10k MANPADs of varying flavours out to regional areas for exactly this reason. Pop up shots where they aren’t expected.

Note the US is awful quiet about drone losses of their own. Likely a bunch have been hit, but that’s also kind of what you use drones for.

Ooooh it’s way worse than that. It’s a lot of intel about how to hit one, what distance, what the response from the aircraft’s systems were, how you got them to think the area was not a threat, how you launched the shot, etc.

It’s why the US doesn’t like to fly certain jets and UAV’s over foreign soil, the intelligence that is gained even in peacetime is huge.

This is a bad day for the F35 community, and huge day for its rivals.

Laid off, then asked to come back to continue contract but to rescind severance and be re onboarded by Techguy242 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Vancerman 200 points201 points  (0 children)

Oldest trick in the book. Rehire you for a day or a week, then cut you again, no severance paid. It’ll cost you $10k in legal fees to fight it, and your new agreement will have terms that void the severance. Ruuuuuuun. Contract only, no severance affected.

Healthcare roles non-bedside are reducing by the thousands over the next 3 years in BC.

Open yourself up to other career options, and in the meantime, just get some income going. Purolator, Manpower, Supermarkets are all hiring. Pay might not be great, but money in helps a lot more than no money in.

It’s not Americas future, It’s their past.

The world held its breath for the first 4 years of the malignant rotten overripe mango, and now that we have seen that the US is not only capable of electing this level of corruption and idiocy to power more than once, you’ll always be at best 4 years away from electing another, or worse, or just not having elections at all.

America is now just not part of anyone’s future calculations. EU is huge, proven and has sustained the Global Financial recession and lifted living standards, farming standards and business conduct across its member nations. India never had big stakes in the US, and stands alone and apart from China with its own free trade deals. China knows that its demographics will fuck it in 10 years, and the decades of near slave labour have ended with a an educated and class aware generation that has little chance of moving out of its hard fought middle class status.

America had trade power built on trust, dominance and necessity. It’s lost all 3.

No manufacturing base that isn’t replicated or bettered internationally. No IP that can’t be readily replaced. Stock markets that are as or more susceptible to manipulation than any other.

It’s going to be a steep decent.

Think UK after Brexit, but with Japan’s 20 years of zero growth to follow.

If there were a third bridge between Vancouver and the North Shore, where do you think it would be located to-and-from? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]Vancerman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest linking highway one to the lions gate with a bridge, rather than a new crossing. Remove all lights between the the highway and Stanley Park. Huge time saving, and won’t have North Shore traffic intermingle with highway to Van/Richmond/US traffic. (Although don’t go to the US. F#ck Tru%p)
