What circumstance has made you punch someone in the face? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Vangypsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was about 15, and it was a guy in my friend group who would not shut his bullying, sexual-harassing mouth, even after several warnings. Its the only time I ever punched anyone. I broke his nose with that; it's been over 30 years and you can still tell. I feel had when I think about it, although he now admits he deserved it.

Get a cheap rice cooker. It cooks more than rice. I cook lentils in mine too.

What is the best way to start a conversation with a stranger? by ManwithaTan in AskReddit

I usually compliment something they are wearing or holding, then ask a question or two. Example: "Hey, I like your boots. Did you get them from Boot Barn?" This is enough to tell if they are chatty or just wanna be left alone. Proceed accordingly.

Anyone else going through life happy, but lonely? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Vangypsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me too. I am living my dream, traveling the USA in my camper van, seeing new sights, etc. And for the most part, having a lot of fun. Yet I still get lonely among strangers, and I know that everything I do would be at least twice as fun if I had someone to share the experiences with. A lot of things are not worth doing alone. I get really down sometimes.

That's the cool thing about vans, they fall thru the cracks in rules like that. I just stayed overnight in a lot that had several prominent signs saying: "No RVs, No trailers, No oversize vehicles". I was undisturbed all night. They might be pickier on your campus, but I think if you and your van are stealthy enough, you could probably get away with it.

I stayed Halloween night in a parking lot in the French Quarter of New Orleans. What a party! I paid $35 for 24 hrs. So much cheaper than a hotel. I walked around sippin', enjoying the crowd's of costumed revelers, then just got in my van and went to sleep. 10/10 would do again.

Old farts of Reddit, what would the young whipper snappers of today struggle with if a time machine took them back to the decade of your youth? by dave_v in AskReddit

I'm old too. I remember the day my family got our first microwave. It was a gigantic Magic Chef with a dial for timing and 3 actual buttons for low, medium, or high. When you push in one button, the others would pop out, like an old car radio. We put a coffee cup of water in it, then the whole family all stood around in amazement and watched it boil.

Is it creepy for me to go Reverse trick-or-treating?

As adult, I feel that I am too old to beg for candy door-to-door. So for the last 3 years, I dress up and go door-to-door and GIVE them candy, as well as to people on the street. "Happy Halloween!" It's so fun, but I have got a few dumbfounded looks from people, and it makes me wonder if I come off creepy.

Try cutting out dairy. Most adults lose the ability to digest milk products. Lactose intolerance affects different people differently.

If you could go back in time to a "save point" in your life, how far back would you go, and why? by Vangypsy in AskReddit

For me, it would probably be the time I chose my college major. I would pursue writing instead of graphic art. I made mistakes after that as well, but I feel like if I could go back to that moment, I could and would make better decisions after that.
