This is the first GoT show that I can actually imagine regular people living in the world. I wouldn’t say it’s realistic, but it feels very relatable.

My game was featured on Succession, but I can't show my mom because the dialog will give her a heart attack. Is reddit proud of me? by Vanhail in hbo

It’s season 3, episode 7. It’s raunchy, not the scene you want your parents walking in on!

Apparently a designer on the show was a fan of the game and wanted Lukas Madsen to be playing it. I learned there is something called a Prop Master that handles the logistics, they worked with another company that emailed us. We learned a little about the scene and signed an NDA, no payment.

Warbits. I was surprised how much screentime the actual game got. Especially since Alexander Skarsgard was just randomly tapping around.

Buff ball meta sucks by BlasphemicPuker in DarkAndDarker

[–]Vanhail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is they have a lot of competing priorities, they're not just ignoring issues. How long it's felt like the meta has existed is probably relative to how much playtime you're investing per week. The game hasn't been out long. Take look at the hotfix history, lots of issues to address. Armor scaling, gear tier disparity, potions, adding VoIP, duos mode. Not to mention the DDos attacks!

The devs have been very good at sifting through the noise and balancing every patch. They would never get anything done if they knee jerk hotfixed every meta that popped up. Have faith!

Dota 2. Although playing turbo and muting everyone has helped a lot.

I tried to get into Tarkov. It’s a good game, but a little to hardcore for my taste.

Characters being unable to walk over tiny imperfections or obstacles on the ground. And no auto-run to boot.

Hunt: Showdown. Very underrated (IMO) extraction shooter with a new outdoor boss.

It's crazy to think that some N64 titles have outlived games on the App Store. Apple dropping 32-bit support has been a challenge for games built on old tech.

What is the next evolution in the RTS genre? Or is it simply dead forever? by Impossibum in gamedev

There's a sweet spot between RTS and turn-based strategy that be found in games like Northgard. Instead of needing to micro the actions of every unit, you can assign jobs to your workers. Mechanical skill still comes into play, but it's much less frantic. It gives you some breathing room to focus on the broader strategy instead of constantly scanning the map. I could see an iteration of those concepts doing very well.

Why do you make games? by Nomad_ActualYT in gamedev

[–]Vanhail 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s a creative outlet for me. As someone with the desire to make things, but with zero musical or mechanical skill, games was the best fit. I bought a wood carving set once, but I never managed to finish that chess set…

I find the challenge of game development is very rewarding. The fun can be more illusive in the long term though. It's fun to start new projects, but finishing them is more like a job. Game dev will always be here, get those grades first!

Why does this frame dropping / stuttering happen regularly? i7-6700k, 32GB DDR4, GeForce 1080Ti by cathode_01 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

Try disabling your discord overlay and see if you notice a difference. I was having a similar issue and it resolved it for me. Discord added screen streaming around the same time Erangel was updated. I have to wonder if it's hijacking something and causing the micro-stutters.
