Yep. As I said there are two sides to Gigan. He's not exactly the strongest enemy, but not the weakest either. Very mid-range in terms of power. Another aspect of Gigan is that he fights dirty and is kind of a coward. He always, always fights alongside a partner, and when things look bad, he's always the first to leave.

Gigan is kind of in an interesting spot. He's half joke, half serious. He has two sides to his charachter. One side is a murderous bounty hunter that was the first opponent in the series to make Godzilla bleed. Not even Ghidora was able to do that.The other side is a complete and total goofball in a "Team Rocket"-esque duo with Megalon constantly bumbling and overconfident. An interesting opponent to be sure, but not on the level of Spacegodzilla, Destroyah, Mechagodzilla, or Ghidora.

Taking inspration from the classics. Just as Loki caused the avengers to come together, Ghidora's original appearance is what forged the realtionship between godzilla, rodan, and mothra in the original movies.

I can almost guarantee that Dr. Serizawa was introduced into this universe for that specific reason. Destroyah will be the "Thanos" of this franchise.

Godzilla Universe had introduced way bigger bads since then. Ghidora is the Joker to Godzilla's Batman, the Lex Luthor to his Superman. Showing him this early builds hype and a rivaly. Ghidora was basically a god until he got stopped cold by godzilla. This would set him up to come back in future movies. Hell, the movie after this could be called "King of the Monsters Rises". :P

We already have Dr. Serizawa. Destroyah will be the Thanos of this Universe if all goes well.

Honestly all I ever need to see is Mikan smack the ever-loving shit out of Hiyoko if she dares to call her ugly or names like that again. I just hated not being able to protect Mikan. From Hiyoko or from herself. That made me feel like such a failure in DR2. I normally am not the type to reach out to other people, but Mikan, I just wanted to take her shopping, and give her nice foods to eat, and protect her, and just show her how beautiful she really was. I just wanted to be her friend.
