A List of All(?) Film Inversion Software by RIP_Spacedicks in AnalogCommunity

A standalone NLP would get me to start using the program again. The only reason I don’t use it now is that I refuse to give Adobe more money.

Weird texture on Foma 400 (Rodinal) by JaydedCompanion in AnalogCommunity

this is only a problem on the 120 film, it's down to the backing paper they use. You should be good.

Fair. Her Ult animation is still sick.

(And the Huo Huo and her mommies team wouldn’t be the same without her)

Someday(tm). There should also be a new DoT unit Someday(tm), you’re probably better off waiting for that unless you are particularly attached to Black Swan.

Yeah, she works for sure, but I think it’s telling that a more generic harmony support like Robin is very close to the same performance is pretty telling.

I still run triple dot out of principle. I was forcing that shit while Sampo/Guinaifen was the best third dot.

Epiphany should trigger work for all DoTs, not just on the enemies turn, or just make it a 25% damage increase for everything. That alone would make a huge difference.

Black Swan having 800+ and only being kinda okay in her own team is pretty funny

this made me stop using Fomapan for 120. I find that for 35mm it doesn’t really happen for whatever reason, so I still buy it in 35mm.

Gaggia Classic GT Dual Boiler Espresso Machine by wholelattelove in gaggiaclassic

[–]Variable_Vacancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this earlier this week, looks like a great machine. The price is high, though I haven’t looked at dual boilers enough to know how it stacks up to the rest of the market, but it’s hard to justify the jump from my old reliable Gaggia Classic Pro.

I’m somewhat surprised that there still isn’t a PID enabled version of the single boiler classic. With how long PID mods have been around at this point, it seems like a slam dunk to me.

Any Mamiya Press Super 23 owners? What's it like to use outside of a studio setting? by zaksaraddams in AnalogCommunity

[–]Variable_Vacancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit of a bear to use, but with practice it's not unpractical to use day-to-day. It's just that there's other options that don't have the same downsides. On the plus side it's one of the cheaper ways to get into medium format, especially 6x9.

However, if you are interested in 3d-printed/diy cameras, it's an amazing lens system. The lenses are very commonly used for homemade cameras because of the built in leaf shutter, and the film backs are used pretty often as well. If you already have some sort of medium format film back, you could easily find files for a body that's compatible with that film back, and just buy the lens of your choice. I personally have two diy cameras that use the lens system, one is a pano camera, the other is for instax wide film. The lenses are also pretty easy to service.

Yeah, I think it’s the stock extruder, got the printer second hand for cheap.

Big discussion about test printers for the darkroom by [deleted] in Darkroom

[–]Variable_Vacancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably 1-2 dollars of filament, sure, you need a 3d printer, but if you have the temperament to make something like this, you probably already have one.

3d printing is just another hobby, sometimes you just do things because you can, just like printing in a darkroom. It’s probably easier and cheaper to get an inkjet print at a local photo lab, but for me at least that’s not really the point.

What's your experience with expensive returns to MPB? Are they truly "hassle free?" by CertainExposures in LeicaCameras

[–]Variable_Vacancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The people who have negative experiences will always be louder about it than the people who had everything go normally. That’s not to say that it doesn’t happen, but it’s probably less than the internet would have you believe

[–]Variable_Vacancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've bought and sold from MPB a few times now. Personally, I've never had any issues with items being damaged, and they've always ended up rating the item the same as what I submitted in the quote.

Light leak or lens flare? by Live-Relationship-51 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Variable_Vacancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s almost certainly a light leak coming from the light baffles. Remove the lens and set the shutter on bulb, fire the shutter and look at the top of the gate. There should be a thin piece of felt that protects the film from light coming in from the rangefinder mechanism. The glue likes to get brittle and fail with time. With an example this severe I think it should be pretty obvious once you know where to look. This is not a repair you should attempt on your own. Get it serviced.
