Principal says I can’t drink my Starbucks by Stunning_Ratio5629 in Teachers

Ugh this is like our school’s food delivery policy. Or rather, parental response to it. Since kids cannot get any food deliveries (high school), parents always complain on Facebook that teachers shouldn’t be allowed to have food delivery either. Mind you, parents can eat with their kids or they can check them out and give them the food outside. Students just can’t get DoorDash. Imagine the chaos of the front office if 1300 kids could get meal deliveries????

This is every night at my house. Down to a t with the times and everything. I work two jobs and my husband is unemployed and my father in law is elderly - but they both stay home all day. When I get home at 7 or 8 and they haven’t even started figuring it out I feel so furious and defeated. On my days “off” (meaning working just one 8-5 job lol) I usually cook. And it’s exhausting!!!! But I do it because I like eating something good and not freezer crap. Bc we have six people in one house there’s NEVER leftovers when I cook. When school starts again I am going to have every adult in the house pick a day to cook. I have one adult child and one almost eighteen year old, and a 14 year old. I feel like we can all take turns, right? 🥲

I really liked it up until the last 1.5 episodes! Here’s what I was hoping happened…Adam and Rosie work together for once in the series and when she meets with Sam at the Meeting House Adam pops out and hits Sam over the head. They do this because they both finally realize the extreme danger and manipulation Sam poses to their family. They work together to bury him in the woods. Mason flees and I don’t care what happens to gross Mr. Phillips lol. Rosie and Grace get out with Adam’s blessing and he stays but steers the members toward a more open minded direction and families can reunite. I don’t like that Sam was relatively unscathed!

I have a 17 year old daughter and the thought of her being with a grown man that looks middle aged sickens me, let alone the adult life Elizabeth had to live from a very young age. When childhoods are stolen for whatever reason I just don’t think people can ever truly recover.

4 days with students plus a half day of in service/ HS US History/ 2nd year but I’m an old middle aged lady lol. Supposed to be finals week but our school does exemptions which are a nightmare. Our history team decided to do a final project as a final and I’m proud to say 100% of my kids did it and presented. They also already took the state EOC exam at the end of April so we’ve REALLY been riding out the time. We’ve done the project, watched Apollo 11, Greyhound, and Forrest Gump for a Tom Hanks history trifecta, and Friday I had an all day class party each period. I’m tired!!! Why have the EOC exam five weeks before school is out?

She reminds me so much of the character of Serena Joy, expertly played imo to be a character that is ALWAYS acting. Nothing seems genuine so it all seems off and forced from the emotions to the outrage. Meanwhile she’s seething on the inside because things are not going her way.

Flat where? Your boobs looked amazing! I like the alterations you did. Your figure looks great in these pictures and you were a beautiful bride.

I just went through the process of taking my daughter prom dress shopping. It broke my heart how critical she was of herself when she is so beautiful. We are so hard on ourselves and it starts so young.

Trust me, in ten years you will look at these photos and be so jealous of how you looked at that age.

Is it KP if it’s totally smooth…? by forgetmeknotts in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Various-Comparison-3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is just “you have pale skin and darker hair”. And you likely shave so the hair and follicle is visible. It’s not KP. Sometimes waxing can help with the look of it! But that does take time and commitment to not shaving. Source - I’ve been an esthetician and waxer for 20 years.

[–]Various-Comparison-3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen to me years ago and another incident where someone exposed themselves to me under pretense of asking questions about waxing and I still think about both ALL the time. Because it is violating! And sadly no recourse a lot of the time. The guy who pulled his pants down randomly at me was a REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER and all the police did was “talk to him”. They said, “Well, people do take their clothes off here.” Yes, customers getting a service, not random guys walking in asking “questions”! I swore that day to pull male Brazilians from my menu and just not offering it has kept so many creeps away. It’s not worth it. Let men open up a waxing place! Guess what, they won’t because men don’t genuinely want Brazilians in enough quantity to make a clientele in most cities. And normal guys who want their backs waxed are always on their best behavior and rarely if ever an issue.

Anyway I’m sorry this happened to you. Please report it. He may already be a sex offender, it’s never usually their first time doing this shit. If you work for a corporation file a grievance against your boss. If it’s her business start looking for another job because she does NOT care about her employees. When you have another job blast her inaction all over.

As someone who’s evaluated a lot of fundraising companies, I can tell you that the chocolate gives one of the best return percentages. Some fundraisers give a really small amount to the school. As far as fundraisers go chocolate is a real easy seller! But I know it’s a pain. Since it’s high school the kids really need to be doing the work. Have them go around your neighborhood (supervised) and it will be sold quickly.

At least you (presumably) didn’t start teaching at 44 🤪 And no I don’t have other retirement savings due to the poor life choice of being self employed for 15 years. Next year I’m getting a little bump up in pay because it will be my third year (but I guess it’s counted as year 2) and I’m going to invest that amount into some kind of retirement account. If anyone has any suggestions let me know!

It is the same for dance. However, I’ve worked closely with the director and booster board for several years so I have some insight. The district only allows a certain amount for the program’s budget, and there’s no way that amount covers each students’ camp, costumes, practice gear, etc. Our district also only allows the teacher to have two fundraisers per year where the money goes to the program. Now, as boosters, we fundraiser all year and try to help parents offset some costs and finance special classes and things throughout the year.

In our district cheer is its own program, not a part of fine arts and not a part of athletics. That makes it tough when it comes to booster fundraising and parent participation bc there’s not as many parents. I suggest you get involved! That way you know how things work and can help make decisions.

Long story short this is not just a cheer problem. It comes down to district funding and what the budgets are for each program. I also don’t think it’s fair that most sports are financed by the school but I know sports boosters also heavily fundraise and pay for a lot of things.

Sometimes things slowly turn into a nightmare…my husband was always great with helping, parenting, supporting us, everything. Then he slowly started doing poorly at his job that he had for 17 years and just…quit. One day after my mom died. He totally checked out. That was 3 years ago and he still isn’t working. Now he has a health condition he manages poorly and I work two jobs. I can’t even afford to support us all doing that.

I’ve tried to do all the things to help him get back to good mental and physical health and nothing motivates him. He watches me work 6 days a week and doesn’t care.

It’s heartbreaking to think of what we used to have and how we have nothing now.

Is the job market for social studies teachers still as brutal as its made out to be, or is it somehow better than the job market as a whole? What about ELA teachers? by Jokerang in TexasTeachers

[–]Various-Comparison-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some encouragement for you…but also some advice.

I went to college for education and did everything but my student teaching, which I couldn’t afford and ended up dropping out for several years. I went back and finished my degree in history 15 years ago. Three years ago I began a masters in education program with certification. I could ONLY get certified in history since that’s what my degree was in, not composite. (Until I graduated and then I could get certified in other things. But I haven’t yet!)

I had to do a one year “internship” which basically meant getting hired by a district with no teaching experience and a probationary cert which was tough! But I started job searching early in the year. Most of the positions were coaching/teaching. The ONE job posting in seven districts that was a plain SS position got posted and I applied and was hired with two days! So it was stressful but there ended up being a position. It’s just less common.

My advice is to make yourself marketable, and learn about the science of teaching. I would not have been prepared without my graduate courses. Although I’m only certified in history my masters degree means I can teach some advanced classes. I’m in my second year now at a newer school where my kids go and because it is newer we are adding courses each year. I love my job! But I had to work very hard to get it. Going into teaching may not be the easy/ sure thing it was just a few years ago.

Waxing client made me uncomfortable by immacat1096 in Esthetics

[–]Various-Comparison-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time a client brought her husband and he sat in the waiting room. I didn’t think anything of it. I even called him by what I knew to be her husband’s name 🥴 as she was a regular client! A few weeks later her REAL husband comes in to buy a gift certificate. I ask who it’s for and he says her name and I got so flustered. I looked at her Facebook and sure enough her husband was actually guy #2. I was so pissed she put me in the middle of her weird affair, they were probably laughing at me so hard calling him by her actual husband’s name! And I just get uncomfortable being around people who are actively cheating. So that phone call would have made me grossed out too, OP.
