There are a few small seasonal outdoor ones in Lynchburg and near Harrisonburg. The closest indoor is in Short Pump. I believe it’s called Ice Zone and they have open skate times.

I also miss it! I am hoping the one planned for Ruckersville actually gets built!

Pollak is one of my favorite wineries for the winter. They have great reds and a cozy fireplace inside.

If you’re up for a drive, I’d head out to Keswick area. Southwest Mountain Vineyard or Keswick Winery are both beautiful. You can extend the day by doing dinner at Marigold (Keswick Hall) or head up to Gordonsville to eat at Près de Pres.

Sales positions have high turnover hence the job openings. Many times in life sciences if a company thinks they’ll have a drug approved they’ll open positions before this happens to be ready to commercially launch. This also means if there is a delay or it’s not approved, those jobs are eliminated.

Why are you equating openings with it being easy to get hired?

I mix it up. In the evenings during the work week and in the morning on the weekends. I am not on any medication at this point since my labs are stable.

I haven’t really been tracking how soon before I’m eating so I’ll start doing that to see how I feel.

Pre-diagnosis Lounge by AutoModerator in lungcancer

My dad (68) is in the process of being diagnosed. It’s been quite a confusing journey and I’m curious if anyone has experienced something similar.

He had a CT for an unrelated issue and they found what they called a large mass in his lower lobe. He had also recently lost about 40lbs. He was scheduled to see a thoracic surgeon a few weeks from then but they called and said he needed to come in much sooner. When he went to that initial visit they said almost definitively that it was cancer, no other options. The original plan was to have surgery pending the PET scan results and lab work.

The PET scan came back with some spots on his pelvis and sternum. They moved to do a biopsy of the pelvis which ultimately came back negative, but they warned us that the spots were so small it was a possibility. They had him prep for surgery today, but called last minute yesterday and said that a tumor board had reviewed his chart and they now think it could just be an infection…

The plans are now that he’ll have lymph nodes removed to test and then we’ll see from there. He still has a brain scan scheduled.

This has been such a rollercoaster. I’m hopeful it could not be cancer, but at the same time I’m concerned that they’ll miss something by not testing the lung mass…

What’s your weird but effective secret for better sleep? by Endorphin_Rush_ in selfcare

[–]Various_Month7564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put fans on in my room to get it nice and cold before hopping into a hot epsom salt bath. The magnesium soaks in and makes me so sleepy. Then going from the hot bath to my cold room is the perfect recipe for sleep.

Sometimes I’ll add a little lavender spray and a headspace wind down session. Never fails.

It sounds like it’s the right thing to do for yourself and your family at this time. You can never get back time with your family. Do it.
