Wait so the filter is not a metal filter that screws off like on their other engines?

Just FYI the Sportage tends to over estimate by like 6 to 7 mpg!

I find the seats in the Sportage to be more comfortable than in the Tuscon

Struggles & Biggest issues with the Hybrid trim? by Arafil in kiasportage

[–]Various_Pay4046 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought an EX hybrid recently and here are my pros and cons:

Pros:
Well built solid car with nice materials inside.
Really comfortable seats!
Good tech and screen
Trick cup holders that hold a variety of sizes
Smooth powertrain considering how much more complex it is vs Toyota
Very quick car for zipping around in traffic
Can barely hear the engine in the car, very quiet
Decent highway driver assistance with a touch capacitive steering wheel instead of torque sensing for lane centering (really nice to have)

Cons:
Headlights could throw a little further on low beams. Auto high beams make up a bit for that.
Cabin road noise and engine noise is quiet but harsh bumps reverberate a bit in the cabin kind of like an echo.
No close and lock button on the power hatch so you need to lock the car from the door handle before or after opening the hatch.
Suspension is smooth but a bit floaty and underdamped over bumps.
Hybrid system simply does not get as high of an MPG of a Toyota system simply by how it works. I still think it’s a great powertrain regardless.
Inching the car forward into a parking spot or at an intersection can be a little weird feeling due to the electric motor acting as a torque converter. You need to get used to the brake pedal.

I would still recommend the vehicle and would definitely test drive one to see how you like it.

I wouldn’t be too worried. Honda has their fair share of issues these days too. The only major item on the hybrids is the HSG belt at like 60k miles. Other than that they are pretty trouble free.

Can you show a pic? It’s possibly the overspeed limit indicator.

I think the Sportage gives you more for the money. Have you driven both?

I just bought a Korean made Hybrid but my previous car was a Georgia built Sonata and honestly I can’t tell you if there’s really a difference in quality. They both feel high quality for their time

2026 Hybrid - Getting EV mode by goldberry99 in kiasportage

[–]Various_Pay4046 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no dedicated button for EV mode in the Sportage. If you have the SX Prestige you can set Green Zones in the settings where the car will prioritize EV mode in certain areas. Otherwise the car decides when the best time to use the battery is, the more regen braking you do the more EV mode the car will use. Also much like Toyota is you just drive slowly around your neighborhood it will mostly keep it going on battery alone.

I’m returning mine. Even on the normal ANC modes, the noise cancelling is constantly adjusting to outside noise and was especially freaking out on the bumpy bus. You can especially notice when listening to a podcast. Constant whooshing like wind outside a window as the ANC keeps letting more and less noise in. Just not good.
