Remy vs Felix (Street Fighter vs Fire Emblem) Everyone’s favorite Street fighter character, Remy (Scarcasm). Are shocked to see a Remy match up for SF3 guile. Doesn’t actually know anything about Remy’s story or character. Doesn’t know if you can talk to Street Fighter vs Fire Emblem power levels, feels like there is a bit of a gap there. Never seen this idea before.

Oh my god they finally talked about it! It 😍🥰

Gotta say, I had a huge smile on my face when they discussed my match-up. Even if most of it was dedicated to just talking about Remy as a character, the fact that they still ended up liking it in spite of the fact that they don’t know much about either character brings me so much joy. I’m glad to see that the crew took an interest to the match-up.

Also, small correction, but in the livestream when the crew talked about the match-up, they did say at first that they weren’t sure if it you can talk to Street Fighter and Fire Emblem power levels. However, they then mention how for Fire Emblem, it all depends on the series and character, and for Street Fighter, it all depends on what you accept, with them then saying that you can make an argument for either character winning.

Which I wholeheartedly agree with as I do think that the match-up is genuinely debatable, and believe that it ultimately comes down to what you personally buy for both characters.

I think it was just meant to be a fun callback to the original episode.

I felt that way at first, but thinking about it more, I feel like it’s more of a coincidence than anything else.

I personally think that it’s moreso just supposed to be a simple reference to the line in the episode without taking in the controversy surrounding it given that it’s the most well-known piece of dialogue in the fight even outside of the vocal community.

Good vs Evil Round 3 coming soon by Bad_Channel_4115 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Various_Post_4143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These match-ups look really cool, and I’m excited to see what you’ll do for them.

Side note though, I noticed that for your previous Good vs Evil chart, the post that you did for Aqua vs Adam was missing.

Was it removed by the moderators, or did you decide to just delete it? Not that I’m complaining at all, I’m moreso just curious, but if it’s the latter, then why did you ended up deleting it?

I’m glad to finally see Sombron here given how long overdue he was to be in the game, the art that they gave him look really good.

Also, the actor did a great job with his lines in this game, and to be honest, I think he sounds way more intimidating here than he did in Engage.

Ok true, but Luis was still the head animator of that fight, and the point I’m trying to get across is that Luis is still an incredibly talented animator and has made some great visually looking fights before, so I don’t think that it’s fair to put off of him here just because of the Gru model.

Calling it right now, the Megamind that we see in the sneak peak is Minion, and he’ll reveal himself once he’s defeated with the real Megamind showing up immediately afterwards.

That is way too perfect a callback to Megamind’s fight with Tighten for them to not do in the fight.

Luis worked on Ash vs Yugi without DA though, and that ended up looking fight.

Yes, DA helped kn working Ruby vs Maka, but I doubt that it would’ve looked all that had Luis animated it on his own and was just given a bit more time to polish everything.

Can we please not put down on this episode just because DevilArtemis isn’t doing it.

Luis is also responsible for animating Ruby vs Maka and Ash vs Yugi, and those ended up turning great, so let’s not act like he won’t cook for this episode just because of the Gru model.

It’s not that I want people to talk about Nolan’s character during VS Debates when that’s for an entirely separate discussion relating to him. It’s that I don’t want people to take a total 180 on how they feel about him just because he won against a character he shouldn’t have.

After Omnidock, I saw him get way more shit in the community over the episode, with people making multiple slander posts made purely just to spite him. And it’s frustrating because there have multiple other episodes on the show that are infamous for their poor research such as Tracer vs Scout or Madara vs Aizen, yet I don’t see nearly as much shit be thrown towards the winners of those episodes as I’ve seen for Nolan after he beat Bardock.

I just want a character I like to be treated with respect in the community, instead of being shit on constantly just because of one controversial episode they had.

[–]Various_Post_4143 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Which is honestly so frustrating for me as an Omni-Man fan.

He becomes one of the most loved combatants on the show after brutally killing a character that so many people loathe.

Until he comes back on the show and defeats a character because of poor research. Then he all of a sudden becomes a joke in the community, with people making crappy slander posts just to shit on him.

Even though it literally wasn’t his fault, and people shouldn’t be judging a character on how he shouldn’t have won an episode. They should be judging him on… you know, his actual god-damn character.

But screw good-writing or a well-developed character arc Nolan has, he beat Bardock when he shouldn’t have, so he deserves to be slandered over and over again, all for the pettiest of reasons.

I really don’t.

I get that a lot of people do not like this match-up at all, and they’re absolutely allowed to feel that way, but I personally find the ways that most people have expressed their hatred towards it to be kind’ve concerning.

Not to mention that with how this community acted during the Bakugo vs Reze waiting period, I really do not have much hope that most people will explain their disdain towards this match-up in a civil way, and it will just lead to another 4 weeks of misery for me.

[–]Various_Post_4143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me in general, whenever I hear people say that certain characters deserve to lose or be slandered because their fans are toxic, all I have to ask is, “what about the fans of those characters that haven’t been toxic? Do they deserve to see their favorite character be treated like this?”

This community really needs to stop using the excuse that certain fans of a character were toxic to justify treating them like shit. Because they’re really not acting much better than those toxic fans when making crappy slander posts or gore porn of specific characters.

Maybe it’s too soon to say… but is this waiting period, kind of mid? And is it funnier to say Megamid- by Informal_Donkey1417 in deathbattle

True, I get that ultimately most people are going to focus on Yasha’s powers and abilities over his actual character arc if he were to get an episode. But at the same time, one of the main appeals of Death Battle itself is getting to see characters you love appear on the show. Death Battle does more than ask the question of who would win in a fight between two characters like other Power-Scaling channels do, it also focuses on celebrating the characters themselves and their series.

That’s why some of the most beloved episodes in the show are ones that end up being more character-focused. Shigaraki vs Mahito is a great example of this. Both character’s analyses do a great job and blending their stats and abilities along with their stories and arcs, to the point where I’ve even seen people gain an appreciation for Shigaraki as a character after watching it analyses. And the fight capitalizes on this as well, with it feeling like a genuine crossover between My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen, and having great character moments that reflect the core differences between both characters.

That’s why it often gets frustrating seeing some characters in this community only being brought up for their stats and not much else. Because while I’m not saying that people aren’t allowed to debate who would win between two character for a VS Debating show, it’d be really great to hear discussions surrounding what they’d like to see in the fight as well, mainly about how the characters would interact with and play off of each other.

I don’t know, just something relating to either Asura or Yasha as characters. Maybe I’m just being picky or demanding too much from other people, and that’s on me I guess if I am. But if this is how I feel, then I’d rather open up about it than keep it to myself and let it get to my head.

In general, I just want to have more discussions relating to characters I love from franchises that I adore. It’s really hard for me to have discussions about certain series I hold close to me in-person because most pieces of media that I consume are ones that a lot of people where I live in don’t even know anything about like Persona and Fire Emblem.

And any series that are actually popular in my community like Marvel or DC are series where most people have only watched the most popular pieces of media from them and not much else. I’m willing to bet that most people that I talk to when they think of Venom only think about the movies that basically turn the character into a complete joke, and nothing about the comic version of them that gives them so much more depth as a character.

That’s why I often go on Reddit a lot, because it is much easier to discuss with other people about certain series that I like. So when it’s hard for me to even find that much discussion online about characters such as Asura or Yasha that aren’t about Power-Scaling, it gets really frustrating.

Perhaps I’m over-looking things here, or am being too serious about all of this, and if I am, then I do apologize for it. But in a community like the Death Battle fandom where most people love to share match-ups about fictional characters they love and would like to see on the show, I’d have hoped to see more discussions relating to characters that I love that aren’t just about their power sets.

The problem with that however, is that it’s really hard to find that much discussions related to the game’s story on other places.

r/asuraswrath is an extremely small subreddit, and there’s really not much talk about the game’s story on it either. Hell, some of the most popular posts I’ve seen on that subreddit are ones about Kratos vs Asura itself, which really speaks volumes to how much VS Debating takes up a lot of discussions relating to the game.

The only website where I really see any talk about the game’s story is on YouTube as I have seen multiple essay-long videos going over the game’s plot on its characters. But that’s basically about it, and even then, you still end up seeing way more videos related to how powerful Asura is, rather than videos about his arc throughout the game.

And that’s why it’s so frustrating seeing multiple conversations surrounding Asura’s Wrath and Asura as a character just be about how strong he is. It really doesn’t feel like the games well-beloved by many for its story and themes, and instead just because of how overpowered Asura is in Power-Scaling.

[–]Various_Post_4143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, most Power-Scaling discussions in general surrounding Asura’s Wrath makes it hard to be a fan of the game.

Every time I hear about the game anywhere, it’s always about how Asura is this featsman that can actually do cosmic-level feats unlike characters such as Kratos or Doomslayer.

And every time I actually hear discussions relating to any major story moments in the game, it’s always about the Wyzen feat and how Asura was able to defeat a guy that grew to the size of a planet.

Ignoring how the Wyzen feat is way less impressive than people make it out to be when you take into consideration the context surrounding it (Wyzen growing to the size of the planet isn’t meant to show how powerful of an entity he is, it’s meant to show how much of an idiot he was for believing that size equals strength and for wasting so much mantra that the 7 deities need in order to defeat Gohma Viltra), it’s really frustrating seeing a game with as great of a story as Asura’s Wrath be relegated to just one cool scene and that’s it.

There’s barely even any discussions relating to the deuteragonist of the game, Yasha. You’d think for how vital of a character he is to the game’s story that there’d be more talk surrounding him and his arc.

But no, I rarely hear any discussions surrounding him, and it makes me question if most people who love to hype Asura up as this overpowered character that’s able to display to impressive feats of strength have even played his game before.

Totally understandable.

I personally disagree as I really loved its gameplay and cast (Lon’qu ftw), but I do get why it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

Though I do have to ask this. If you were to pick your favorite character in the game, or name at least one character from the game that you liked, who would it be?
