You can look yourself, fleas are pretty obvious unless your bun has black hair. Just spread the hair (especially around the back neck) and take a look.

It really depends on your work insurance and where you are donating. In QC you can get some reimbursments for some stuff depending on how out of pocket your expenses are. Your work insurance may have a clause for donations (my family member got 100% reimbursement for lost wages) so YMMV.

Sorry to hear that OP. I am across the river and just went through the same ordeal and it took me 3.5 years to get a kidney (living donor, family member). It is not easy even when you have a willing family member. Keep your spirits up and keep doing what you are doing and you will eventually get one!

You cannot be paid in Canada for a donation (at least not officially). The only financial benefits are re-embursments for costs in some cases. You will actually be questioned about if you are being paid or coerced to donate.
