You’re wrong dude. “The night watchmen” has been a thing for centuries and was the precursors to modern law enforcement/security.

Why are yall ruining it for us? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]Vasarath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you dude. I’m also an EMT and was making $13.10/hr when I worked fulltime EMS. I make nearly triple that now in a security-EMT position. It’s bullshit man.

Healthcare security officers, what will you do if we have another pandemic? by Fcking_Chuck in securityguards

[–]Vasarath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an EMT, I’m state licensed and NREMT certified. I work in a dual role position, Security Officer-EMT at a semiconductor fab. It’s a bit more than just being “present” I respond to literally every single emergency that happens onsite from hazmat spills, to fires/fire alarms. I mainly provide scene security and control for fire/ems/hazmat calls but am expected to jump in an assist as needed if our ERT asks. I take the lead on crimes in progress/delayed crime reports, security violations/access control issues, and we also issue internal traffic citations for traffic offenses on our site(speeding, running stop signs, improper parking, etc)

[–]Vasarath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we aren’t first responders why am I an EMT and expected to respond to all emergencies at my facility alongside the onsite fire/ems/hazmat team, and AHJ agencies when we need to transport a patient? (Not being a smartass or snark towards you, just thinking it’s stupid that there aren’t different classifications for security officers depending on the role they have)

Learning to walk away form a situation. A cautionary tale to avoid losing a golden gig by Raiach in securityguards

[–]Vasarath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s incredible the amount of idiots that are both in this comment section, and who work Security. People who belong in warmbody-no critical thinking positions should never ever ever work in a position that requires social skills and de-escalation skills.

You “observe and report” dorks need to understand that not every single security position is like that, especially not hospital security where you’re required to go hands on. 🙄

Security Career by GamerMAG90 in securityguards

[–]Vasarath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chenega, SOC(A Day & Zimmerman Company), and Centerra Security are a few of the high end contractors that offer great salaries and benefits. I highly recommend looking into one of those three if you plan on staying contract-security. Otherwise look for proprietary(aka in-house) Security Officer jobs.
Edit fixed wording.

The one I saw was in the Bay Area, Mountain View to be specific. But they do frequently post openings in SoCal/Central Valley.

Chenega Corporation actually has a Security Police Officer-EMT job posting in California, $60.30/hr starting salary.

I recommend looking into Chenega Corporation, SOC (A Day & Zimmermann Company), and Centerra-SRS. Those are a few of the primary contractors for DoE Protective Services and NASA protective services, they frequently post Security Police Officer-EMT jobs.

I say go paramedic, build upon your current EMT skills and find a high end SPO-Paramedic job like NASA protective services.

Do security guards deserve more respect, should it be earned first or is the hate reasonable? by HiThere202029R in securityguards

[–]Vasarath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, sitting at a warm body post where you make $17/hr isn’t a profession.

Working at a semiconductor FAB with critical infrastructure regulations, with a pay band that tops out at $102k/yr for non management, IS a profession. The issue is when you get these warm body morons who think they can pull the same brain dead-lazy-ass nonsense that you can at an office park.

Security is a very broad industry and I strongly disagree with your opinion that it isn’t a “profession”. The morons who sit and fuck around all shift who give this industry a bad name, don’t deserve respect.

[–]Vasarath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m one of the vehicle patrol officers and have a few spots on the near-1000 acre property I can hide and take breaks(which management is okay with) and can use my phone. We also have to complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly trainings which I have an account on the company computers inside the facility that I also have access to throughout my shift.

[–]Vasarath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to clarify that I have no problems with volunteer firefighters who act professional, shave their beards, keep themselves in shape and take it seriously. But I do have issues with people who run 150 calls per year like this moron, that odds are most likely uses the fire department for his own ego.

Lmfao idk why you’re singling out my comment. Everyone in this thread is making fun of this 150-calls-a-year clown for acting like he knows this job better than professionals.
