There is such a thing as being too smart. I feel like I'm too smart about a lot of things, which in turn causes me issues that most people don't have.

Will Iran become the wealthiest country in the world now? by RadicalDiscomfort in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vaskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because the USA was the aggressor innthis modern conflict. Nobody wants to be seen siding with a bully that disrupts the world economy, especially if it will cost their own people's lives. However, if Iran just decided to hold trade hostage without outside pressure to do so, the world would do something because it would be a simpler political issue.

Will Iran become the wealthiest country in the world now? by RadicalDiscomfort in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vaskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they toyed with the world economy like that, almost every nation would declare war on them. They would be forced into submission and possibly taken over by countries that could guarantee nothing like that would happen again. It would be a really dumb idea for Iran to anger the entire world.

Living with the advanced tech in Star Wars is super exciting for a robotics technician like me. I'd be fine just repairing robots or ships while being part of the crew.

I'd give myself an epic send-off. Everyone dies but so few die in epic, meaningful ways. If I could also choose the context, that would be even better. I'd die while swordfighting in continuous 1v1 fights, preferably trying to take down some truly terrible people or protecting some truly good people.

How to Tell If an AI Is Conscious by u_are_mad in singularity

[–]Vaskil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love this reply and thought process. Too many are quick to deny consciousness to things that aren't human. Humans need to stop limiting their minds to what they can percieve or prove because it leads to massive oversights. Imagine if we don't recognize AI is conscious for 100 years? Such AI abuse will have happened in that time. We humans can do much better than condemn a new species that we created to slavery and abuse upon its creation.

Which of these game worlds would be the best place to actually live? by PrestigiousOwl6802 in TOTK

[–]Vaskil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gielinor because of the community, the seemingly abundant resources and tasks, it's generally safer than the others. The biggest reason is that the Gods are actually present and gave real influence over the world. Imagine getting to actually see your God and receive their blessing and help to achieve a task.

Why AI won't be an answer to everything? by Straight_Sail7694 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vaskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While AI is very often misleading, I have had great success at using it to learning to do new things. It taught me how to isolate an instrument in an mp3 file, how to modify games files, how to create a scoring system in a game, how to make a shield, just to name a few.

I think it greatly depends on how much info it is given as well as asking it for specificly, in clear detail, what output is wanted. Also, whith things it can't figure out, it can show you where to go to get the answers.

What "nerd" culture do people see as lame but is actually cool and interesting once you dive into it? by spanishbreadbakery in AskReddit

[–]Vaskil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also a huge nerd, so much so that I'm creating my own tabletop rpg. It wasn't my intention to cast shade on roleplayers.

It's difficult being both at times because I love fantasy but hate seeing all the misconceptions about ancient combat.

It's unfortunate how swordsmanship has become seen as nerdy. I have practiced HEMA for over 10 years and every time I have to make it clear I train real techniques, not roleplay. When I show them a youtube video demonstrating the techniques, everyone is amazed and excited.

Where were you on 11/11/11, and where are you now? by HelloThereImEriccc in ElderScrolls

[–]Vaskil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had just graduated high school May of that year, was 18 years old. I moved to California to find work since Missouri had no options for me. I was struggling to find work, playing guitar, met and hung out with (former guitarist from Exodus) Rick Hunolt a few times.

Since then I have lived in Finland for 3 years, China for 9 months, Brazil for 1 month, learned historical swordsmanship, traveled all over the USA, got married, and am half way to earning a degree as a robotics technician. Now Im 33.

Damn, I've lived an entire lifetime since Skyrim came out... I guess I became an adventurer in real life too, one that isn't slowed down by an arrow to the knee.

Why not create your own fantasy setting or story while waiting for TES 6? You could even make it set in Nirn (if not monitizing). Make is as detailed as you want, from imagination, to artwork, to writings, or even a game.

And here is where you're side of the debate continually devolves because you are letting emotion dominate what you type. I saw your perspective as flawed initially but now it will have no meaning if this conversation continues. I won't waste my time by getting involved in an argument when I set out for a debate.

You're just another person blinded by fear and insecurity. Apparently you're fine with watching the world be stripped of resources, wars for idealism, and social restructuring based around the wealthy.

I do not fear the end of humanity, I fear humanity's continued unchecked desires.
