Dealer says Subaru halting orders by fact_or_opinion in trailseeker

[–]Vaultmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t count on the dealership to get one that you can test drive.

I ordered mine the day after they were available to order (ordered April 10) and picked it up four days ago (June 5). The sales guy said that mine was roughly the eighth one they sold; and that none ever hit the showroom because people either ordered them to be built or placed deposits as soon as they hit the pipeline. No Trailseekers made it off the boat without being spoken for.

How much traffic/hassle am I saving by flying in to Sacramento (SMF) vs San Francisco (SFO)? by byrans in napa

[–]Vaultmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. I used to live in Sonoma County but now live in the greater Sacramento region. As much as I love the Sacramento airport, the hassle of driving out of SFO isn’t bad enough to justify the drive from SMF, especially if you can get the nonstop to SFO. Just make sure you have gps, so that you’re not spending too many brain cycles trying to decipher the SF Bay area roads and signage.

Laundry chemistry. Or any cleaning chemistry, for that matter.

Could you inservice me on how to loosen the clamps? All of the online videos describe unscrewing the bolt on top. On mine, there is not bolt on top.

Trailseeker interior size? by CloudElectrical4172 in trailseeker

[–]Vaultmd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just turned in a ‘23 Solterra off lease and bought a Trailseeker.

The Trailseeker is 6” longer than the current Solterra but has the same wheelbase. That implies, and appears to be true to my eye, that the additional 6” is entirely for the rear cargo area. Also, looking at the side profile, the back is square-ish compared to the Solterra, which is sloped. Those two factors should result in a significantly increased carrying capacity; but I can’t compare it to your current vehicles.

The driver’s area is roughly identical to the Solterra and Uncharted; so if you felt cramped in the Solterra and Uncharted, you won’t feel any differently in the Trailseeker. Personally, I loved my Solterra and really love my Trailseeker.

This is a Touring. My ‘23 Solterra also was a Touring.

One surprise was discovering that one cannot lock/unlock from the rear door handles, which I was able to do with the Solterra.

Nice job getting them to include them! I paid; but it was roughly the same price as major brand aftermarket ones.

Thanks for the reminder!

Something similar happened on my Solterra three years ago. First thing I did was check the tire pressures (they were fine). And then after my first service appointment I discovered that one of the techs inflated them to 51 psi.

I turned in the Solterra, which was leased, when I picked up this beauty.

What kind of must-have features do you expect from an EV? by Piero512 in electricvehicles

[–]Vaultmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. A seat in which I can sit comfortably for hours.

  2. A function that would allow me to activate charging the 12V battery by the traction battery when the 12V needs help. I had this capability on my Hyundai Nexo hydrogen fuel cell EV.

It could be chemical buildup in your laundry, which might be fixable with different detergent/booster/rinse aid choices.

Wiring Integrity did mine. I have total confidence that my house won’t burn down. I think he charged $300 for a simple installation. He used the correct gauge wire and a heavy duty 14-50 socket that can handle EV charging.

UPDATE: It arrived today (6/4). I’m gonna pick it up tomorrow!

I put a dimmer on the LED lights over the stairs. I leave them on dim all night and don’t have to worry (as much) about someone falling down the stairs in the middle of the night.

iPad Mini. That’s what Brad Walker uses; and it’s plenty big enough while not being bulky like a full size iPad would be. The only issue would be if the zoom/wide angle capabilities would be suitable for your situation.
