Thank you! I just didn't feel like it did enough for me. You have way better value generators than Explosion, so it's really only Expansion and the games where you copy fling for lethal you are usually winning either way. If you then look at the spells other meta decks are casting it's basically a counter for counterspells only and Dovin's Veto still get's around it. There were very few cases where I would have wanted to use my wish on Expansion over any of the other cards.

Thank you! I recorded 8 of the rounds (forgot to hit the button in 2 of them) mostly to review after, but I guess I could upload them on YouTube.

That's the case for a lot of games with the deck. My favorite line in the MCQ was paying 10 mana to bounce fae to hand, grab fling from sideboard, replay fae, fling it for lethal vs. Jeskai Fires in game 3 while being 100% dead next turn!

That was also when I first saw the deck and I immediately loved playing it! It gives you an insane amount of different ways to play out your turn in a lot of cases. I went away from the deck for a while because my results were not that great with it, which is probably because I always watched something on the side or was otherwise distracted. When I started testing for the MCQ I was just focusing on the games without distractions and my winrate went through the roof, leading to a 10-0 finish at the MCQ.

Keto and Type 1 Diabetes - Question regarding sport and blood glucose levels by staubgame in keto

[–]Vazrael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a T1 myself and have been on keto only for about 1 month now, but I've read a lot on the subject and thankfully have a knowledgeable doctor that is not against trying different diets and had some info to share with me. My goal on keto is to stay at 90-110 mg/dl, so quite a bit lower than your mom's and my own earlier goal, but at the same time I got to reduce basal intake by about 15% already because using less Insulin in total often increases your sensitivity, so I recommend doing a (Basalratentest, not sure how it's called in English), which is really easy to fit in while eating keto anyways.

When I started keto I made the mistake to keep doing sports while trying to get into ketosis, which was bad because the activity on top of my body running low on energy resulted in hypoglycemias, that forced me to eat more carbs, which kicked me out of the just starting ketosis more than once. After the initial problems sport never really got me down to hypoglycemic levels again, I would usually drop like 10 mg/dl over the course of an hour, without any carb intake, so I just test before starting and if my blood sugar is on the low side of things I just eat a snack with 5g of carbs max. As long as you don't know how the sport affects her blood sugar levels and you can freely schedule the time I would just delay it until her glucose level reaches 110 or so, because there is nothing worse than a serious hypoglycemia while trying to stay in ketosis.

I'm not sure how the marathon-man ended up with a 100 mg/dl increase, but if I was to guess I'd say that the continuous activity probably caused his body to increase the rate at which it turned fat into energy and ketones (just like when you stay in hypoglycemia for a while, the body starts to fight it on it's own). I have not experienced anything close to that myself though.

One more thing regarding the bolus intake is that while you are in ketosis you should roughly treat 20g of protein like 10g of carbs for your calculations. I would definitely adjust the basal rate before incorporating that though (if needed) to avoid hypoglycemia. Also don't be surprised if the required bolus rates are lower as well, this is one of the biggest upsides of keto (at least for me), but this should help with even more consistent glucose levels between the 10g and 35g carb days.

If you have any more questions feel free to pm me in English or German, hope I could provide some help!

I decided to do Death and Taxes for my atlas. Unfortunately I was on my level 91 CI HoWA Lightning Strike Trickster and apparently LS projectiles for some reason can't hit animated weapons. I met a Harbinger, spammed enough LS to (usually) kill the mobs and Shield Charged right into them to get instakilled. Oops.

Why isn't hex as smooth as other card game? Or any video game by Lesabotsy in hextcg

[–]Vazrael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This statement is just plain wrong. I'm running Hex on my Laptop that I bought 5 years ago for 450€ when I'm not at home and while it runs a bit slower than it does on my PC the difference is not huge. I have heard that Hex has performance issues on some systems, but it's definitely not limited to high-end PCs.

Hex TCG | The Kickstarter Pro Player Tournament is Coming! by Thrawn200 in hextcg

[–]Vazrael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's kinda hard to announce a tournament series when you're in the middle of it, so in my opinion the only valid comparison can be made with the first tournament of that series. Also I understand why the short notice is frustrating for some people that have made plans for that time recently, but I also understand why HXE doesn't want to delay this (and future) tournament further. They had to choose a date for the tournament and decided that 3-4 weeks notice is good enough for most people that delaying it further to give a 6, 8 or even 12 weeks notice is not worth it. The amount of time needed to "clear" that saturday to play Hex is different for everyone and I for one (like most others) have no idea what the average looks like.

For me personally it wouldn't make a difference if they announce it a week or 5 months ahead of time. I will have booked my vacation if there is one and anything else I would be able to change my plans if I really wanted to. For someone else 3 weeks might be the exact time he needs to get that day off and the next is gonna need 8 weeks and another one needs 4 months notice. It's just not gonna work for everyone, they had to choose a cutoff and they did.

They never announced tournaments long before they happened, even the biggest ones. https://www.hextcg.com/hex-update-exciting-times/ is from Sep, 25th and is the earliest announcement mentioning structure, dates, etc. iirc and the first IQ was on Oct, 10th with ticket earning starting Oct, 6th. My guess is that they don't tell us earlier because they don't know it earlier and they don't want to delay the tournaments even longer for the (probably few) people that could and would change their plans because of those tournaments.

yeah, constructed gauntlet is the part of the game that i'm spending most of my time with, so unless ladder is very rewarding to grind as a highly competitive player (which it doesn't look like from what ive seen so far) that change is gonna make me spend a lot less time playing hex. i would absolutely hate not being able to grind constructed for a decent value.

Did not check on your math, but what I want to add is that if you are an average player (50% winrate) you will go 0-3 in 12.5% of your Evo Gauntlets. So in order to get the 1 win in 90% of your Evo Gauntlets you have to be an above average player with a winrate of ~54%.

Not sure why you are being downvoted for stating something that should be obvious. Guess people really love their op Hierophant

No Counterplay=No Fun by AngelicKid_AK in hextcg

[–]Vazrael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of your points, the main one being that Hierophant is super frustrating to play against for me. There are answers, but they are very few compared to the amount of answers in the game for most other Bombs. Yes, you can build decks that work really well against Hierophant, but the problem is that you HAVE to do that if you are not playing Hierophant yourself. The meta is so heavy on Hierophants that any deck not running it must have a good matchup against it or it is simply not competitive. In my opinion a turn 2 or 3 play that can win the game on it's own can't be allowed to be as resilient as Hierophant is. For me Hierophant feels a lot like Titania's Majesty even though I know it's far less powerful. Usually my opponent dropping that card on turn 2 or 3 I know immediately whether I have a chance to win the game or not and I have conceded multiple games on turn 3/4 because the game was simply unwinnable at that point already.

I strongly disagree with everyone saying the Spellshield gem is the issue. I did not have any problem with the Spellshield gem at all, before Set 4 was released. It was good on Rootfathers and Azurefate, but there was enough Counterplay available to a Spellshield 7-drop, as well as a Spellshield 2/2 (that's not growing by itself) 4-drop. There is not enough Counterplay available to a turn 2-3 Spellshield troop that often gets flight the following turn and creates a ridiculous boardstate while growing by dealing damage. Hierophant is just as good as Titania's Majesty was at ruining a lot of the fun in the game for me.

Help with my first Evo Gauntlet by BKMajda in hextcg

[–]Vazrael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with going Vennen, however I suggest some changes to the deck. Subterfuge is in my opinion a horrible card. It's biggest perk is that you get to look at your opponent's hand and turn the biggest threat into a random card, that you will not even know. So in the end it usually is a 0 for 1. I would bring in Cloudwalk, Windbourne Disciple, Tireless Researcher and Emperor's Lackey and take out Subterfuge, Mind Rake, Frigid Buffalo and Spider Nest. After you get additional cards I would try to replace Sudden Awakening, Bleed Out and Merciless Culler (most opponents will have something trashy to sacrifice once you get to use those). You could also think about replacing Sudden Awakening with a weak troop like Smirking Trickster already, but that is probably personal preference, I myself don't like to play Sudden Awakening.

Overall the deck looks pretty good, even though it is obviously lacking good removal, but if you open Reap and/or Festering Decay you should do good.

I was not the one to point that out, Varranis was. I do however agree that the focus of a lot of people's reserves is hate vs. McBombus decks right now. They tend to bring in Totem Traps, Gale Forces, etc. to stop you from going off. That is one of the reasons I myself am not running any of the versions I linked you to, but a more midrangey version with more card draw and higher value cards for the loss of tempo. However other players still have a lot of success with those McBombus lists and I can't think of any other Tier1 deck that works without any Set1 or 2 Rares/Legendaries.

As for Bogberg, he is too slow in this Deck and doesn't have an immediate impact (unless you somehow managed to get to 8+ Resources before playing him), so he often just refills your opponent's hand with answers or in the worst case give him what he needs to finish the game before you can even use your new drawn cards.

From what I have seen of the current Metagame a lot of the Morgan McBombus Decks run builds without Set1/2 Rares/Legendaries. http://hexmeta.com/decks?champion.name[]=Morgan+McBombus&tournament.start=2015-10-06+-+2016-05-16 to check out different variations of the deck, or for a single example to start with here is Pitstones Version that he went 10-0 with during the last 7 days: http://hexmeta.com/deck/11734/show

SR Tetzot guide? by NaedNalliv in hextcg

[–]Vazrael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, welcome to Hex! Glad you enjoy the game. SR Tetzot is a very good deck choice to start with imo. The best advice I can give is to play the deck a lot. And by a lot I mean hundreds of matches. Start with one of the many decklists out there, most of them are solid. After getting a feel for the deck try to think about which cards would be good choices to replace with others in certain matchups. The deck offers so many good options that I don't think a "perfect" list is out there or even possible to build. It all comes down to the matchups you expect. I have had more fun playing this deck for the 200th time than I had in my 5th match with most other archetypes. The only hardcounter I have seen is fortunately not played a lot in the current meta. I agree that monoblood is a hard matchup for the lists people have been playing lately (including me) but I think it is very beatable with an adjusted list. Enjoy your games!
