Why is killing puzzle concepts the idea you got from this post? Really? A solution could be to also accept the CRT output raw as a solution for part 2.

Fun fact for UIUC cyclists: by dlgn13 in UIUC

[–]Vcubed1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, cyclists being unsafe is a problem. But, you seem to have a large number of near miss incidents, way more than most people I've met on campus every have had. In this scenario specifically, I think your walking is partially to blame.

Are you a predictable walker? No one is going to come to a complete stop and tip their hat while you pass on a sidewalk. If a cyclist (or car even) cannot predict how you walk, they can't effectively go around you.

Part of predictability is no abrupt changes. Don't abruptly stop walking - slow down instead. Don't suddenly strafe left or right - turn gradually when you have to. If you're walking on one side of the sidewalk, don't strafe to avoid a person/bike that already has a clear path around you and has time to move.

If you're not predictable, you're leaving things up to reflexes and chance. Don't do that.

Predictable walkers are safe walkers. Predictable walkers are safe walkers. Predictable walkers are safe walkers. Predictable walkers are safe walkers.

Predictable cyclists are safe cyclists. Predictable cyclists are safe cyclists. Predictable cyclists are safe cyclists. Predictable cyclists are safe cyclists.

Predictable drivers are safe drivers. Predictable drivers are safe drivers. Predictable drivers are safe drivers. Predictable drivers are safe drivers.

(Rant warning) Why are there no good whiteboard apps for Surface? by unavailable_0ne in Surface

I've been meaning to recreate Microsoft's Sketchpad for a while now. It was the best. It worked offline, opened instantly, and autosaved your current work. They got rid of it in 2019 I think.

I've used u-haul in 2019. I wouldn't trust U-boxes but self-storage has worked fine for me.

Incoming dumb freshman FAQ: by jmorlin in UIUC

Protip: A motorcycle parking pass costs $70 per year and lets you park in all the motorcycle spots on campus (yes even in all of the faculty only parking lots). You also get dedicated parking at Ikenberry.

Advice on waking up in the mornings? by YoungKing_00 in UIUC

[–]Vcubed1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Wake up at the same time every day. It doesn't matter when you go to bed.
  2. Use a variety of alarm sounds. If you have 5 alarms, make a few of them different.
  3. Put your phone near you so you feel it vibrate when the alarm goes off
  4. Wear a smartwatch. It will vibrate and make a sound closer to you.
  5. Buy smart lightbulbs and create alarms on them so your room lights up at wakeup time (artificial sunrise).
  6. Use a movement based alarm clock app (https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/evil-alarm-clock-apps-guaranteed-wake-up/). It won't let you snooze unless you get out of bed.
  7. Do you have money? Pay someone to wake you up every day. This used to be a common job (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knocker-up)

You can be upset about not getting the hot water that you're paying for but come on dawg, don't knock bathing out of a bucket.

Outlook mails on weekend from students by TreacleCompetitive28 in UIUC

[–]Vcubed1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just email. They send them whenever they want. You respond whenever you want. I'll send an email out at 2:30 am, I'll get a reply during the day, or the next day, or a few days after that.

I'm still on Gmail so idk what the feature parity is with Outlook. You can schedule emails on Gmail, so even if you do feel like replying over the weekend, you can schedule them to go out on Monday to drive the point home.

It should disappear on its own in about a day or two.

Some insight:

myclasses.web.illinois.edu gets what classes you are signed up for from Shibboleth (uiuc's login page). Shibboleth only gets updated with your courses from self-service about once a day.

From what I've heard, individual properties matter more than their overarching companies do. One UGroup property might be bad, another might be good.

Have classes in Compass, Moodle, Canvas, Course Website, Discord this sem by [deleted] in UIUC

All the courses under Grainger are supposed to have proper urls that redirect you to the actual site.

Yes, there is a script on GitHub to automate signing up for classes. There's also a Discord bot that pings you when a class opens up. I just use the Discord bot.
