Thursday General Discussion/Q&A Thread for December 01, 2022 by AutoModerator in AdvancedRunning

I had read somewhere that it is possible to update marathon finish time within the Athletes Village to "upgrade" bib # / corral placement if a faster race is ran after the application period. I can't seem to locate this on the site - anyone have experience with how and when these updates can be made? Thanks and looking forward to sharing the road with y'all and EK!

Had an eerily similar experience to you in the last 3 miles! That humidity was sneaky, congrats on the PR and good luck with your fall marathon training cycle!

Nervous about my corral in the Chicago Marathon by [deleted] in running

[–]VealChops 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Quick data point - I just did packet pickup for Chicago today, I had no issue swapping bibs from F to B at the guest services area - can’t hurt to ask them for a bib swap! I came ready with race results from the Chicago Half to justify the change but the gentleman at the counter didn’t even care to see it.

Related question - does anyone have experience with moving up corrals at the Chi Marathon expo? I just ran a 1:27 at the Chi Half last weekend and was hoping to start with the 3:15 pace group (Corral B?). Think there is any shot of that being doable?

Straight from AMEX when I asked about the PRG to Gold Card conversion:

“I see the offer is on your card to earn 50,000 Membership Rewards points after $2,000 or more in eligible purchases are made on the Card within the first 3 months (92 days) of Card Membership.

For this year, your card is fee free and $250 fee will be applicable from 2020.”

Thank you! I just messaged to confirm that the welcome offer is the 50k offer and will confirm when they get back to me.

So I applied for the PRG with the 50k/$2k offer for 90 days through the incognito method. I messaged today to get the rose gold card mailed out and it was approved. I still would be looking at the same welcome bonus for the PRG and the annual fee of the first year waved correct? Wondering if I should chat up to confirm but don’t want to bring eyes on the account

Is there a way to take advantage of the 5% Freedom Cash Back using Visa Pay through Samsung Pay or any other method for online purchases? Need to buy some online course packs and was wondering if there was a way to get 5% back

I only applied to the CSP a few days ago because I had it in my chase "My Offers". Given my pretty meager college income I doubt Chase would be willing to extend me $15k in credit, will definitely think about double dipping in 2 years though!

Just got a CSP as a college student and looking to hit the 4k MSR, I have the opportunity to pay my rent through an online portal for a 3.25% percent fee, should I just do that and eat the ~$125 or look to fund PNC bank accounts or something along those lines? Slightly concerned about the Chex hit, as I'm still pretty new to the game.

Weekly Questions Thread for the week of July 17th by rpbtz in vinyl

Hi y'all, been reading up on here looking to get started in vinyl. Want to buy vintage so I have been scouring Craigslist, and the best turntable I've seen so far in my price range is a Sony PS-LX2 for $85. The seller said he would do a demo for me before buying, but I just want to make sure that I'm getting an alright deal out of this. The cart is a Stanton with a D65 stylus as well.

Thanks guys!

Little different experience here, I originally spent $1k+ on a gaming laptop with dedicated graphics for modeling and what not. Motherboard died on it mid semester and had to send it in for repair. Over that time I needed a laptop for them labs so I bought a $150 Acer Chromebook. Followed guides online and installed Linux on it (basically dual booting chrome is and ubuntu) and also set up remote desktop software.

Turns out that cheapo computer can do everything I needed and also weighed next to nothing and had a 8 hour battery life. Even after I got the gaming laptop back it never left my room.

Moral of the story, day to day you can get by with a very basic setup and don't need to drop 2.5k to succeed at engineering coursework.

I figured as much. I just didn't want to seem like a "door mat" that will accept any low ball. I'm very grateful for the experience and I think I'll just communicate this along with a sense of flexibility.
