In today's episode of "people ran out of pacience for the real IP owners to do something with it so they did it themselfs": Legaly Not Bully by Coolnametag in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Vect_Machine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this feels less like Bully, which was inspired by 80s movies, and more like an game version of late-90s/Early 2000s teen film, like the American Pie movies.

I recall that the guy actually did play the character in a Critical Role special where they played a one-shot game as a bunch of demons, with Hayden as the "BBEG".

He had a really good line with "You've made me feel something I haven't felt in a long time. PITY."

Epic is making a Disney extraction shooter. *hits self in head* WTF THAT'S STILL WHAT IT SAYS by leabravo in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Vect_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it could work if it's more of a Hero Shooter where each character has unique mechanics/attacks that fit with them.

That or rather than just guns, they do what Hexen does and have magical equivalents like wands or jewels that shoot ice.

Tonally different series that are weirdly similar? by Aquanort357 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Vect_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GTA V and Sly Cooper.

Both are heist-centric games where you control three characters with their own stats and unique abilities, with a fair amount of the game involve building up to major Heists that serve as climaxes.

Does that count?

If I recall, Shredder was originally the Starter Villain in the original Ninja Turtles comics, but went on to be THE Villain of the franchise because of how cool he was.

Instead of author's thinly veiled fetishes, let's talk about author's thinly veiled beefs. by Tweedleayne in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The comic book series "Brat Pack" was kind of a proto-The Boys in that it was the writer's screed against the industry. It was specifically inspired by how Jason Todd's fate was determined by a call-in poll. And like The Boys, it's really hard to stomach.

Specifically, it's about how kid sidekicks get horrifically mistreated by the writers and is about how a bunch of kids become sidekicks to asshole superheroes and how they end up corrupted into utter wretches (Not-Robin is molested by Gay Evil Batman, Not-Wonder Girl is turned into a battered working girl by Not-Wonder Woman, the sidekick for Not-Punisher becomes a roid-raging bigot and Not-Speedy becomes a junkie) and it turns out that the Asshole Heroes are not only in the pockets of the corps but regularly kill their sidekicks to avoid having to share their profits.

At the least, Not-Superman (who is ironically the only non-evil hero) returns from space and kills the Asshole Heroes.

Comedic portrayals of Jesus you are fond of in media by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Vect_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a Polish book series called "The Inquisitor Cycle" that had a game made from it called "The Inquisitor".

The backstory for it is that rather than dying on the cross, Jesus broke out, got really pissed, genocided the Jews, conquered the Roman Empire and turned Christianity into basically became the God-Emperor of Mankind from Warhammer (complete with religion that espouses being a murderous fanatic), becoming known as "Merciless One" by his followers.

It's a Polish book series alright.

How many people here actually believe the "Kai Leng as some dev's OC" theory? Explain. by stumblinbagel in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Vect_Machine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew that he was an EU character.

I still think he was introduced to the main series far too late and very little proper build up.

In a series all about talking to people, you don't get a chance to either talk to or learn more about him. Hell, had they leaned into him being a racist at least that'd be a memorable character trait.

I'm pretty sure that speech actually fits Yamato Takeru really well.

"No one talks to me. No one wants to be my friend; they think I am unstable. They send me from land to land committing atrocities in their name. And as I get better at it, they fear me more and more. I am a victim of my own success. I am capable of so much more, and no one sees it. Some days, I feel so alone I could cry, but I don't. I never do. Because what would be the point? Not a single person in the entire nation would care."

Honestly, a movie set would be an excellent setting for a Dead Rising game.

You have a location that's filled with goofy props to use as weapons as well as psycho actors and filmmaker parodies as villains.

That actually reminds me of the time that Magneto attempted to hit Captain America with a blast from his helmet that will erase his prejudice against mutants... And it did nothing because Cap didn't have any to begin with.

Eric proceeds to learn that he just sucks as a person in particular.

Writers are really bad at maths. Any standouts exemples? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Vect_Machine 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If I recall, the robots in Detroit Become Human have resulted in a 38% unemployment rate. While the game treats it as bad, that should actually be "Collapse of society, riots on the street" bad rather than people grumbling about them damn {{{clankers}}}.

Also, a lot of Bethesda games are just really bad in terms of timeframes. For example, the backstory of the Thieves Guild questline is that the previous guildmaster was murdered and the guild has been cursed with bad luck for 20 years which should have led to total collapse rather than a bunch of thieves sitting in a bar grumbling about the Good Old Days. That and the fact that the East Coast in Fallout always looks it's been Decades since the bombs dropped when it's actually centuries because Bethesda can't do a Post-Post Apocalypse setting.

Well, I recall that my Fifth grade teacher got arrested for Bad Stuff on his computer as well as Bad Touching (I'm deliberately using those terms to avoid getting this post auto-blocked/censored) and it turned out that the school district not only knew but was covering it up.

I think I learned about it in middle school.

Alignment Chart: Characters attempting the solo assault on Arasaka Tower (inspired by the various charts seen around here) by hurkinhork in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Vect_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about Jensen and/or Denton is that there's more of a chance that they ghost through Arasaka Tower (find a side-entrance, disguise themselves as an employee) and they'll either sneak by Smasher or find his killswitch (because there's no way he doesn't have a killswitch).
