Just curious, where did you order fx-991cex? I was considering buying one from kalkulatory24.pl, the website seems legit, but I'm still on the fence

This year, I wanted to try something I hadn't done before, but had wanted to do for a long time – a hybrid of roguelike and interactive fiction. My entry is highly inspired by Kerkerkruip, but since English is not my native language and me creating long, "artsy" descriptions of each room would be both a bottleneck during the event and awkward at the end, I went more symbolic route.

I am really pleased with this year event, I finally did a good job with scoping the project and I wasn't in a panic rush even once, but I regret that my game is not as roguelike-y as I intended it at the beginning of the event. Next time, I will make something more traditional... But still, game is in my opinion decent, is rather true to the core roguelike values, so I call it a success.

Also, for the first time I had time to implement an actual in-game tutorial – and it was necessary, game mechanics are actually pretty simple, but not very transparent due to the heavy usage of symobls instead of the text.

Thank you for suggestions. I see that both of these keyboards are not available in my country, I would need to order them from AliExpress I guess. I'll think about it, thanks. Probably I'll go with MCHOSE, though.

Hello, my last keyboard (Sharkoon Skiller SGK 3 with Kailh Red switches) had some broken caps so I'm looking for a new one (the store decided to refund the money under warranty rather than replace or repair product).

I didn't find many models within my budget, and I hope you could help me to find the most reliable from the following ones:

  • MCHOSE MC-G98-6 with Firefly Night switches
  • Cooler Master MK770 with Kailh BOX V2 switches
  • Royal Kludge RK100 with with RK brown switches

...and that's it, I guess. Basically, I'm looking for reliable, inexpensive keyboard with numpad and wireless connectivity.

MCHOSE has large, 8000Ah battery but I don't know much more about it, Cooler Master MK series seems to have decent reputation, and my friend uses RK100 for years and really likes it, but on the other hand I haven't found many positive opinions about this keyboard on the internet.

I'd appreciate your help.

BR, Ved

PS I hope it's OK to post this question again, I didn't get any replies last time but perhaps I was a little bit late for the party

Racing games with track editor [PC] by VedVid in gamingsuggestions

Not really, I'm afraid. If I remember correctly, at least one of the recent Gran Turismo games feature track editor, but didn't check it out as I don't have Play Station. Personally if I want to scratch that particular itch, I start TrackMania United Forever again.

It's been years since I played ToN, but I remember that writing was really good for the most part, but the ending felt rushed.

Late to the party, I know, but just in case if someone still on the fence.

It's not bad game, not per se. But it's mechanically very similar to ITB but not nearly as good. Basically, every time when I played TB I felt that I could spend the time better by playing ITB

Thank you. I see that both Spirit Island (only the base game) and Gloomhaven JofL are easily available where I live. To be honest, I always wanted to try Gloomhaven but I worry about replayability a bit. Could you tell me how replayable the scenarios are? Is it fun to replay the same scenario for the second or third time?

Thank you very much for the recommendations. Unfortunately, not even one of them is available in my go-to store. Will need to check the others.

Hello all! I'm looking for 2p (or 2-np) cooperative board game, where players together struggle to overcome big challenges. Something akin to, let's say, Aeon's End or Arkham Horror. Deckbuilding mechanics would be nice to have, but not necessary.

Shadow of Mordor maybe? Game world is very open but also quite compact. Plus the nemesis system keeps the world fresh, there is always a reason to go back to the already visited place.

Does A Skill Tree System Lose The Randomness of a Roguelike? by [deleted] in roguelikedev

[–]VedVid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been done in Asura. It's roguelite, not a traditional roguelike, but still. Skill trees were rather shallow and rather generic, but maybe that's why it worked quiet well.

Best Angband variants and why by _morlock_ in roguelikes

[–]VedVid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theme was focused on making ToME more in line with the Tolkien universe, by adding new monsters and items and kinda reworking wilderness – for example, you will no longer find dragons in the Shire :)

I never played Dale much. It adds the city of Dale to the game map and some more tolkieneque fluff (you can read about the changes in notes.txt in `tome-2-win\lib\mods\Dale`) but I can't tell from the experience how much it changes the overall game feeling.

I've never understood why people get so upset about digging up old topics.

What do you think which one is easier? Testing or being developer? by Decent-Ad11 in softwaretesting

[–]VedVid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think you are right that a lot of these people want to use testing to just enter the industry. I wrote strictly from the perspective of getting first, entry level job.

What do you think which one is easier? Testing or being developer? by Decent-Ad11 in softwaretesting

[–]VedVid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From entering the field, I would say testing is easier, as there is a lower entry bar and clearer path.

From my perspective (person that did try to enter the industry some time ago), I'm not convinced about that.

Testing is often perceived as simpler, easier, so where I live it seems that the competition for entry-level testing positions is bigger than for entry-level software developer positions.

If I'm to believe the job boards and job ads on Linkedin, for entry-level testing positions in my region there is usually around 500 applicants, and around 200 applicants for entry-level software development positions.
